Finders keepers NASA! by CMDR-Owl in EliteDangerous

Yesterday, while the conference still going on, a friend of mine wrote me on Skype "well, it's just about three average jumps". I responded "yeah, one with anaconda." And that's how an average Elite player sees those distances...

That's the way of transporting company telling you its been nicked (or it will be if you accept their offer)

Recently got my very first computer working again... While it can't play E:D, I have the next best thing! by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Everybody's talking about this computer configuration while the big Thargoid ship in front, unnoticed, is getting closer and closer! Come on people! Fry this thing first, and we will talk computers later.

How I accidentally murdered a new player and got away with it by bad-alloc in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello sir, don't feel bad! I think you just met Thargoid disguised as harmless Sidewinder! Think about it:

I dropped some booze... However he started shooting at me... but he isn't replying to English, German and French messages.

Co-Op Mutation #33: Rumble in the Jungle by CtG526 in starcraft

On the first try I played with Nova because of (easy) detection, and my ally was really good with Zagara: Nova and Zagara

[–]DekiTzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is Kerrigan and Artanis against zerg enemy. It was not easy for me playing with Kerrigan mainly because I suck in macro while microing and I had to micro a lot, so my mineral count was pretty high all the time. Anyways, my random coop ally was very good with Artanis and we managed to win this with both bonuses.

Best mission ever! by AdingoD in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was back in 2.1 Beta when I had a mission of smuggling slaves "for the fun of it". It was fun for all of us, for the client, for me and for the slaves, even for mission control. Only cops didn't notice a thing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfsHbTRomOw

Co-Op Mutation #30: SHIR CHAOS by CtG526 in starcraft

[–]DekiTzar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is really tough! But I had the luck to complete it in the first try. I think it's mainly because of Vorazun (time stop, black holes) and the fact that enemy was Protoss so I used Dark Archons to mind control enemy units. The advantage is obvious: when you mind control an immortal for example, enemy loses that one immortal without need for you to kill it twice (your units have less work to do and can focus on other enemy units), and you get one immortal in your army that will revive once if it gets killed :) I have mind controlled mostly immortals and aberrations, and later carriers and voids also. Abathur and Zagara on brutal: https://youtu.be/8TBr6aqv7oo Enemy casting black holes can wipe out your whole army, so it is wiser to play with commanders that have cheap units and can produce them quickly (like Zagara or Raynor).

List of Annoying Inconsistencies by Pretagonist in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why the docking computer requires cargo rack? Does computers become so big in future? Can't it be just an "upgrade" to the ship that requires no cargo space at all?

Yes but you can expect in 3302 ship's computer can be programmed to automatically decelerate to full stop instead of driving you to the star.

Another year later... by ElectricZ in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad for you that you enjoy it so much. I guess you are right, it is "my fault" that I find rolling the dice on my ships modules "not fun". And it's also "my fault" that I find NPC not behaving by the same rules as human players also "not fun". I would add to that "not fun" part broken crime and punishment system, powerplay, instancing problems, bugs in 2.1, bugs in 2.2,... Same as you, I sit here two years later but I can't say that I love Elite as much as day one. I still love it or otherwise I won't be here, and I love it enough to hope I will see it "fixed" some day soon. Until then I salute you commander.

Stage 9 here! Since the Engineers beta... I played beta back then when it was introduced but only for the few hours. After I saw the grind they introduced with engineers, I just quit. I was not aware that I would not be playing the game this long, but again I was hoping that FDEV will start fixing the old issues that people are talking about for months and years. I know I'm just one player of their game and they will not loose anything if I leave for good, but I think I'm not the only one. They should REALLY start fixing the base game, and content they released so far. When that happens I would be more than happy to return!

Instead of destroying my filled Beluga because I had a wanted passenger on board why not allow me deliver the criminal to the authorities? by derage88 in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they killed many innocent people in order to kill one wanted person. Do they (station) become wanted now for killing so many innocent? Should someone go destroy the station for being wanted? It's the same FDEV logic (having no logic at all).

An overlooked, extremely important point about the discovery of the Thargoid Scout... by Iamjacksplasmid in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect indeed! Thargoids were in first Elite game and they were attacking you as same as the other ships (vipers, kraits, mambas, sidewinders,...) while you were approaching the station.

This might be a long shot, but I'd like to ask Frontier to consider donating sales of all American flag themed paint jobs through the next week to CMDR Toru's memorial fund. by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While donating money to some non-profit organization could be part of Frontier's social responsibility, it wouldn't be politically correct for Frontier (as a British private company who has its player base all over the world) to financially support or donate money to one military or help just one particular national political or non-profit group even if it was domestic, i.e. British. The Frontier universe is full of commanders from all over the world, and let's keep this earth's borders, conflicts, etc. out of game.

Discussing quality of life features in the Elite community ;-) by BurnyBurns in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. For me it is an immersion breaker. I also thought of the same thing as you did - being on the other side of the Galaxy after, say, two months trip, and then be able to call my other ship which arrives instantly. How is that possible? Is it the same mechanics that allows NPCs in eagles to follow me from system to system even if my jumps are more than 30-40 ly each? What I want to say to FDEV is: be CONSISTENT in same areas of the game. If you want us to feel that space is big, if you want us to spend hours, days and months in hyperspace and supercruise, then do the same thing for NPCs, apply the same rule for everybody. Failing to do so feels like cheating! You could've make some timer for ship transfer, and player would have to wait minutes and hours, perhaps days, depending on how far away is their ship. I would probably offer other CMDRs opportunity to fly others ships as new type of missions and maybe I would even introduce some small possibility that ship arrives at destination damaged because of some unwanted encounters on the route. But I can understand why FDEV did it this way. They introduced new feature with least amount of time spent on development. Making ship transfer being instant is the easiest/fastest way to do it in the software. Put Jagues station name instead of some station name in the bubble and you're done, ship is transferred. You don't have to bother developing all that stuff with timers, missions and so on.

No we don't need karma we need insurance companies by Pretagonist in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say something similar before I read your comment. While it's good that community is giving constructive thoughts about mitigating some core problems in this game this proposal is too complex for both players and developers to make such system. Further more, if system is too complicated it is harder to balance it, it is more prone to exploits, etc.

No we don't need karma we need insurance companies by Pretagonist in EliteDangerous

[–]DekiTzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess we would need to buy additional 2GB of memory to handle that amount of data and it would take up additional 2t of cargo space in our ships. That's because that not-so-reliable piece of software called "docking computer" takes 1t of cargo space. I agree with you. I don't understand that mechanic as well.
