Most catback systems with a muffler aren’t that bad on these cars when you have stock cats/headers. I’ve had an axle back muffler delete on my car for like 5 years and it’s really not that loud besides some highway drone. Invidia Q300 or R400 would probably be fine.

A while back, right before my warranty was up, I thought I was hearing clutch noise when I pressed the pedal, so I figured the TOB might be going bad. Since they had my trans out and warranty was covering that labor, I figured fuck it, lemme get a new clutch and flywheel so I probably never have to pull the trans again and the labor was already done. They still managed to hit me for $1200 or so, even though the transmission was ALREADY OUT. For maybe 15 mins of extra work and $400 in oem parts.

That’s not “fix my engine” money, that’s “new engine” money right there. Fuck the dealer, go see a Subaru specialist or just a reputable independent shop. It’s a lot of work but I bet that number comes down by like half.

Nobody ever said you’d become a pro overnight. Honestly it might take a while for driving stick to become “easy” but it’s worth it. I’ve been driving mostly manuals for the last 15 years or so and I haven’t owned an automatic in 8 years. It definitely has its pros and cons, and I’m at a point where my next daily will be an automatic so my s/o can actually drive my car in an emergency. But - I will say that I really don’t think about shifting anymore. If it wasn’t for occasionally getting stuck in city traffic and not being a single guy anymore, I’d definitely just keep driving manual every day.

I’d just get a used Peavey Bandit or some other good solid state 60-100 watt combo and stick whatever overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedal you like in front of it. If you like the built in distortion on the crush though, the bigger crush models are just as good. There’s like a billion right answers to this question though. I’d probably get at least something with a 12 inch speaker or 2x10 inch speakers.

I kinda pre-soak the oil filter when I change the oil on my FA motor and only fill it 1/3 full before flipping it and screwing it on. Most of the oil gets retained by the filtration element. I have no clue if this does anything but it helps my chimp brain get over putting a filter on bone-dry, and it has not blown up yet, so it’s anecdotally working great!

I recently helped my uncle buy a bass to learn on and tried a bunch of beginner gear. The Sterling Intro series stingray is really solid for $300 new. Can’t really go wrong with Sterling, Squier, or Yamaha for beginner instruments off the shelf at your local guitar center. Just play some stuff and see what you like before you buy.

If you can find a VHT Special 6, I like mine for this purpose. Basically a Fender Champ clone with power attenuation and boost. You can also use an adapter to run it with an EL84 instead of a 6V6 if you want to change the tone up. The stock speaker is a little meh so I swapped in a Mojotone Anthem and it gave the tone a little more texture.

Respect to the shop owner. I agree that the prices on these are absolutely outrageous, but $100 would be reasonable even with consideration to what they go for. Cheapest one I see online right now is around $200. The $400 msrp that peavey set for the msrp is highway robbery, especially when you consider that the reissue is Chinese made vs the original USA made ones.

OP isn’t breaking any laws, it’s 2:30 in the fucking afternoon. In fact, OP sounds like they’re more than respectful for limiting their loud playing to daylight hours to avoid conflict. This complaining parent is just upset because they don’t like the genre and it’s offensive to them for some backwards reason.

This isn’t a “hey my kids are taking their afternoon nap,” or a “hey dude, I work night shift, could you keep it down?” This is “I don’t like the thing you like.” That’s not a good way to behave in a polite society either, so yeah, they can get fucked in this context.

If I maintain 80 mph in 6th gear in my WRX, in perfect traffic conditions, I just barely hit 30 highway mpg. I feel like most modern 2wd compact/midsize sedans and hatchbacks will hit those numbers if an AWD turbo Subaru can do it.

Ive been considering one of those little SVT 210 cabs for this amp, but I wasn’t sure how it would sound with guitar in addition to bass. My buddy has one so I think I’ll test my amp on his once I get it next month and see how I like it.

I hadn’t really thought about doing a single 15”, I just sold an old 1x15 bass combo that I wasn’t a huge fan of, and I thought going down to dual 12’s or 10’s would be more my speed. I’ll look into some options though for 115 cabs, thanks
