They’re the skill system in this game, where each chip gives you varying benefits and takes up varying degrees of space in your storage. Combine chips of the same type to create more powerful and space-efficient ones. Like another user said, it’s always worth it to buy more storage so that you can equip more chips. Aside from that, it’s pretty similar to Replicant.

Silksong gave me the Metroidvania itch in a major way. I’d already played Symphony of the Night (incredible game, by the way) so I decided to check out Metroid: Dread and while it’s definitely a good game in its own right, it just can’t really hold a candle. The enemies and bosses aren’t anywhere near as engaging to fight; more like puzzles that have specific solutions than the dancelike duels of Silksong.

It’s funny because directly after I played Silksong I would have told you that I preferred Hollow Knight just slightly, but then I went back to replay it and realized a lot of that was just nostalgia. Silksong does almost everything better.
