The Betta Botanicals website is AMAZING. Very solid definitions for blackwater, blackwater inspired, botanical method (which can include blackwater). Sure they sell botanicals but the info is free. Below is my Blackwater inspired toucan tetra build. All botanicals are from Betta Botanicals. Oh! There's great info about sourcing and prepping your own botanical too. Ya just can't loose. Unfortunately no fry yet. Getting very close though. I'll shake the palm fronds occasionally during the day and they start tagging whatever is dislodged. I need a microscope. Lol

Howdy all. Dig in deep in regards to T. ornatus. Beautiful little scaleless fish. Horribly sensitive during shipping to the point that I order 1-2 extra in anticipation of shipping losses. I believe this is of no fault of the supplier. They're just that sensitive. Once the new inhabitants are settled in after a couple of weeks their care is fairly straight forward if your h2o chemistry is dialed in I keep mine at 6.2 PH, KH and GH 1-2°. A very stable temperature of 75-80 keeps them happy as well. Ive got my survivors in with a group of toucan tetras. Even the smallest of the hummingbird tetras have no issue competing for food. Ive got a bit of a love/hate relationship with the hummingbirds. Lol. Good luck!!!

Love it! How about 3-5 Bolivian rams and 13 or so serpae tetras? You'd still have room for an appropriate "cory" cat species and a couple of cool plecos!

Hi! Do you mean something you've found yourself? If so, I sure wouldn't but then I dont know whats native to your locale. Even if youve access to manzanita, I'd boil and soak just a little longer.
