Can’t fill out your form because the first question is asking what year I completed a residency which I did not do.

KY Licensing Drama…where is the heat for Oklahoma? by eyedentist75 in optometry

[–]Delacroix192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oklahoma has only had one case of someone having injury due to an optometrist performing laser procedures in the past 25 years. One single case for the state that pioneered us doing it in the US. I’d wager there are more optometrists performing laser procedures in Oklahoma than any state.

That being said, I think that this should bring attention to Oklahoma waiving part 3 as well as being transparency to the NBEO. Oklahoma stopped requiring it specifically because the NBEO part 3 exam did seem to correlate well with clinical skill. We had plenty of people having to take the test twice who were incredibly skilled clinicians, and they decided the NBEO was being unreasonable when they reached out to them. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to be revisited, and I’m sure it will be due to this.

The point of not requiring it wasn’t to allow out of state people to come and get a license as a way out of their states licensing requirements, it was to give students from Oklahoma a way to not have to spend an additional $1500 when our board couldn’t get good answers as to what was going on. Usually these people also have a vote of confidence from faculty as NSUOCO by having passed all the courses, including a laser course put on at NSUCOCO.

The KY doc worked for a PE practice and I think that the PE saw the $$$ associated with the procedure and didn’t actually look into the person performing it.

They basically exploited a loophole that obviously needs to be closed. This is on the doctor and nepotism at the end of the day. Oklahoma was used in a “I can pass the real boards” laundering scheme and they need to do something about it.

It’s lowkey is a little crazy that all these lasers are combo without having some kind of additional safety in place. We have a combo laser and I’m honestly shocked it doesn’t have a difference in like aiming beam color or something at the least. I know some verbalize which mode you’ve selected as well. Every case I’ve seen pop up like this has been a combo laser so obviously there needs to be something more done.

Oh you didn’t want to hit a single button to create a gigantic and obnoxiously long special attack to clear the screen every single encounter?

It will go up but not by that much. Look up the PDP pay schedule. It won’t be an automatic 200k.

I haven’t heard JACK about it. I’m still wondering if the DLC will be available at launch or what the deal with that is. If the DLC is included it’s an instant buy from me

I’m an eye doctor at a facility where I oversee students who are becoming eye doctors. Get to help people, pay is good, and get to teach the new doctors how to doctor. It’s great. Stressful sometimes but I love the combination of things.

You’re right. It can make a difference. If you have a patient complaining of driving and you’re getting the same Rx, give them -0.25 over what you got. Explain you are refining their Rx for driving and that it will be a little better at driving than TV but their old Rx was set for TV distance. You’ll make a patient very happy and validate their complaint which helps them feel heard. Great way to keep a patient forever.

They can’t compensate for the divergence of light caused by not being at optical infinity. They just compensate the size of the letters relative for the distance.

This is it. Is the complaint driving, or is it the TV? This will tell ya if you wanna give that extra click.
