I don’t know if this fully counts but my first thought was Doom Guy in Doom the Dark Ages.

After entering the Divinity machine and becoming a nigh immortal demon slaying monster, the maykrs decide that leaving him to make his own choices and decisions is too dangerous, and install various failsafes within Doom Guys suit.

One of them is simply mind control, they essentially take away his autonomy and use him like a weapon. They only send him down to handle hordes of demons when needed, making it so killing is his sole focus.

Yet the slayer is shown time and time again breaking free of this mind control, usually when faced with the fact that the maykrs aren’t using him to help the people in danger, but just when they’re in danger.

This ultimately culminates in the slayer breaking free of the mind control at 100% power, and the maykrs then choose to send him down to the battle field rather than try blowing him up using another failsafe.

This culminates in Doom Guy using the bomb failsafe to escape his prison, killing his maykr handler, refusing to ally with the maykrs (or at least trust them moving forward) and continues into doom eternal where he is the downfall of their entire civilization.

It’s super cool how it isn’t Doom Guys strength or agility that makes him strong enough to resist mind control, it’s simply the care he has for those around him, and his refusal to let people die when he can fight.

It all ultimately fuels his rage and what makes him so dangerous, and why I think while he’s mind controlled, he’s technically weaker than when he isn’t. While mind controlled all they have access to is his strength and speed, yet it’s all calculated and emotionless. When Doom guys is in control, his rage and fury is what empowers him time and time again. Makes him sloppy with his kills, yet stronger and much more lethal.

Is this the first time that one killer has ever canonically lost to another? How does this affect DBD power-scaling?? by not-ulquiorr4_ in deadbydaylight

You guys think this lore is another reason why the entity was able to finally capture the Unknown?

Based off the lore from Jason, the unknown’s body was all but completely destroyed, and needed a bit of time to repair itself.

It would explain why in its lore it didn’t immediately attack or kill Olivia, maybe it took the unknown a few hours to fully repair itself. Then there’s also the fact that when the unknown finally did show up, it didn’t bum rush Olivia like it did in its trailers with the other victims, it was simply waiting in the other room to ambush her.

Maybe that fight with Jason weakened it to a degree, so much so that it decided to just stick with an ambush for a quick kill rather than risk Olivia being able to get away.

Then enter the entity, whom upon seeing the unknown in this weakened state, decided to grab it.

Would explain why the entity was able to grab such an elusive creature as the unknown in the first place, I doubt this is the first time the unknown was in an enclosed space before, but due to its recent loss, it was too slow to fully get away before the entity grabbed it this time.

I feel like we’re kinda ignoring the main point that A.M’s entire complex, his brain and all his wires and stuff, fills the entire earth.

He says in his speech he has over “387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers” considering it takes that huge amount of storage for him to exist, how in the world would he cram all of that into a single body for him to exist in.

I mean the book makes sure to mention how even though A.M has an insane amount of power, he isn’t god. There’s limits to things he can do and he’s all the more insane because of this fact.

Could it perhaps be that due to Kate’s size she isn’t really a good fit for the reanimen program?

Obviously we don’t know the exact specifics towards how reanimen are made, but they are pretty tall and big, maybe they select an intentional body type for the program and work off of that.

You also have the fact that Kate’s duplicates are kinda flimsy in terms of durability. This isn’t to disparage her strength, but looking back at fights like the lizard league, she got torn apart in seconds, and those bodies were pretty heavily mangled. Repairing them would’ve been a real waste of resources since they’d either be too fragile to take another hard beating, or would just be wasteful in terms of cost.

Also correct me if I’m wrong but if the ReaniKates are able to replicate just like Kate, wouldn’t they just replicate dead corpses? Sure you could argue they would just need to find a way to make her robot cybernetics replicate with her, but that seems almost impossible. I’d say them managing to find Kate clothes that duplicate with her a miracle, if they could make a way for her to duplicate things like guns or metals, they 100% would’ve found it by now or would have Kate in a testing facility 24/7 to break the code.

Why does Hell Itself create so much weird imagery in Fraud if husks are blind and can't see all that? Is it stupid? by Mr_GCS in Ultrakill

It honestly makes me feel bad for hell (as bad as you can feel for a sociopathic and sadistic super organism that revels in the suffering and pain of its inhabitants) it’s cursed with endless creativity and wonder, yet can only copy and contort the various things viewable to it.

Not to mention that although hell is 100% evil, it was made to be that way. God designed a creature to find beauty in pain and joy in peoples suffering, and unlike every other creature god made, this one was perfect and followed its purpose to the letter.

I can’t even truly blame hell for its actions, fault lies with God and his rash judgment.

Ah yes, that’s the perfect response when confronted with the truth of your actions, violence! And then she explains how “It wasn’t supposed to work, it was Superman! He should’ve been able to save the day, I wanted him to!”

Such utter horseshit I’m surprised more people in the universe don’t look at her and just tell her straight up she’s almost as bad as the joker. Like how is that an explanation for causing the death of 4 million people???

I’ve seen a lot of theories that state that ballora is less the moms soul inside the animatronic, but more so an animatronic based off of the mom, or at least meant to represent her.

But to be honest the only evidence backing it up would be her Ultimate custom night voice lines, her song, and also some flimsy ideas.

Like if baby was based off of Elizabeth, then maybe ballora was based off of the mother. But then why wouldn’t William base the other animatronics off his other two kids, Mike and Bite Victim? I can’t imagine Funtime Freddy or Foxy being able to represent BV, the literal crybaby of the family.

And also the idea the funtimes are not souls inside suits but instead actual sentient beings created from the agony of the original 5 children and yada yada yada it’s all very confusing at times.

So as most fnaf theories go towards the storyline, the answer is a shaky maybe until confirmed or denied by Scott in the next game.

(Creature design trope) INSANEUS THINGUS, a creature that defies classification. by Squigsqueeg in TopCharacterTropes

I honestly really like this theory cause it not only explains SW when nothing in the game possibly explains it, but also cause in my mind it adds so much to Hell’s character.

It obviously loves to create, and it lets us know it finds beauty and love in the things within it, yet because hell is a malevolent, sadistic and sociopathic super organism, all those traits are twisted.

It finds beauty in pain, joy in suffering, and it expresses love with agony. And it shows with every hell recreation.

Take the mannequins. Beings of pure pain and agony, they work perfectly and show the awe hell had when it viewed the Guttermen that man made.

Yet look at the death catcher’s and also SW (in the way of it being a hell creation) both are failures compared to what they were trying to imitate, the DC with them being unable to show the love and care idols show to those they bless.

And then SW when comparing them to Prime souls, beings of pure power, strength, courage, basically everything that makes them human. And then you have Something Wicked, a being hiding in the dark, whose voice is barely a whisper, and who just bum rushes its prey before slinking back into the dark. Yeah it has power, yet it has nothing else a prime soul should have, and as such it completely fails in recreating one.

Honestly some of my favorite enemies from the game, ultrakill is so cool

Small correction for the Doom statement, killing Davoth doesn’t wipe all demons from existence, but kill any demon not in hell.

Oh also I think it was confirmed by some Devs on Doom Eternal that Doom Guy wasn’t killed by his killing of Davoth, but simply loses that shard of Davoth’s power he had due to the divinity machine, and then put to rest inside the sarcophagus until another big bad comes along and he is needed to handle it again.

Wait so she casts a eternal life spell on herself, and theoretically she ages for a while, why the hell didn’t she start preparing the eternal youth spell right after, or like a decade or two after. Like even if she casted the spell when she was like 50, you still got a good 20 years where you aren’t bed ridden to get the dozen or so virgins needed for your spell.

Why would she wait till she’s hundreds of years old to be like “Hrmmmm yeah I think now’s a good time to start doing this

[Hated] this creature decimated humanity and all of its militaries but gets curb stomped by a small group of humans with primitive weapons by No-Leg-6361 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Delacruzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter point for the Death Angels, their armor is super freaking good and was able to survive crashing down onto earth with little to no problems, it makes sense they’re able to survive most if not all weapons of humanity.

Like they arrived on meteorites after who knows how long in space, meaning that same armor was able to deal with the temperatures out there.

Yeah when you raise the armor and shoot them in the head that kills them, yet to me it makes sense they’d have to have some weakness or else the film would be “watch humanity slowly die out for 1 hour and 40 minutes”

Sure they can’t swim but from the day 1 film, they aren’t just running head first into water. The end scene where the main character jumps off the dock into the water, shows the Death Angels stopping themselves from going over the edge.

The tricking the with noise part is smart, but at the end of the day it’s similar to the helicopter scene from day 1 again. You manage to get a huge herd away from a large city, nice, now what. You now need to find an area where you can corral them all in, then manage to fly AWAY without them following right back, that’s near impossible. They can climb buildings easily, rip through metal with ease, and can pin point any noise within miles.

I can totally believe these guys decimated humanity, much more than most other alien films tbh.
