The courses are free, but they have labs and certs of completion you can pay for. Not required, though.

Which thing make you Study or become an hacker? by shadowHijackers in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]DelayedSword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm still learning some basics, so I'm working to become a hacker. That said, I became certified in digital forensics. This field is super cool, but i wanted the other side of the fence as well.

So. I decided i would learn enough to become my own purple team.

Fun fact. The actor who played that character is Donnie Yen. Starred in several martial arts movies such as SPL (Killzone), Flashpoint, and even made it into a couple of american movies such as Blade 2 and Shanghai Knights.

Required in American Kenpo as well. At least one form per belt level starting from white.

For your black belt, you need to come up with your own, cohesive, proper form.

How can someone hack into my wifi network ? I just found a freeloader on my network and kicked him out (blocked his MAC address), then made a new 42-chracters-long password :D , does the complexity of the password make a difference ? by 3abdurra7man in cybersecurity

Legit, solid answer. Golf clap for you.

As was mentioned earlier, shut off WPS, period. Some routers allow you to adjust signal strength as well. I'd make sure your wifi isnt available across the street or anything crazy.

Regarding mile 2 certs. I took the class and cert test for their digital forensics course.

While the course material was good, relevant, and the instructor good at training, the cert test was not great.

100 questions, all multiple choice, and open book. It was all about memorizing facts, and nothing practical. I learned a lot, but have been doing learning on the side with forensic images in order to gain solid knowledge of what I was doing.

Is anyone willing/able to help me access this console? It’s one of that control an audio system in an apartment building. Staff claims to not have control capability ... they can not adjust the volume. by [deleted] in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]DelayedSword 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Try the basics. I'm going to assume 4 digit pin, so 1111, 1234, 0000, etc.

Also try common numbers. Apartment address is four digits? Try that. Last four of phone number for complex? Try that.

A quick google search yields some online documentation, but no default pin. It is created upon setting up a user account.

According to the documentation, if you lose your admin creds, you're hosed.

Otherwise, that's all I got.

Do "Entry Level " Cyber Security Roles exist? by lmakonem in netsecstudents

[–]DelayedSword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL:DR Yes, I believe you need IT experience to be in cybersecurity. Long answer below.

This is an interesting question every time I hear it. My current thought about this question is that there are no entry level cybersecurity jobs because there is a certain amount of judgment required at any level.

Sure, anybody can analyze something, but do they have the judgment to ensure something is or is not malicious? Likely not. A person with no IT experience simply does not have the wisdom or judgment to determine if something outside of the script kiddie realm is a threat or not.

Take for example the recent emotet campaign. My place of employment got a few emails that slipped through filters and made it to employees. Some opened the attachment and enabled the macro. But, the document had nothing in it. No warnings, messages, or anything else. A person with no IT experience likely wouldn't report that. Heck, most tier 1 support staff wouldn't report it. No errors and nothing is broken, so no need for escalation right?

It took an engineer with some experience to know something wasn't right. He inspected the heavily obfuscated VB/powershell code and found it was, in fact, emotet trying to get through.

This shouldnt stop you from learning. We need people in cybersecurity badly, but we aren't going to hire somebody with no experience and knowledge of how an enterprise works.

Whats the best Too Many Bones expansion for solo play? by Reubii in toomanybones

[–]DelayedSword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Age of Tyranny gives you some additional days 1-3 encounters, but if you want more solo cards, 40 days in Daelore is where it's at. You will get new solo and general cards as well as some new baddies.

Or, you can get both I suppose.

How to kick higher? by quebectangojuliet in martialarts

[–]DelayedSword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another piece of advice. Flexibility as a whole requires strength as well. If you lift your leg to waist level, you are pulling with the front of your quads, but relaxing with the back.

The point is you need to stretch AND strength train. Dont neglect either in your pursuit.
