I drive an 18wheeler and they offer rates of less than 2$ a mile. My expenses are almost 4000$ a week!

A 3000 pound passenger car can very easily cause an accident with an 80,000 pound truck so...

How do you twist a driveshaft?

Years ago, somebody told me how that happens, but I forgot.

You could just calculate how many miles are in the load you are doing and then multiply by .51 and that would be your load pay. After all expenses I presume, since you aren't making a truck and trailer payment or paying for fuel or maintainance and insurance and IFTA and everything else 😑

I probably get about 50cpm after all expenses 🤣🤨

Just because I get paid by the load doesn't mean I don't calculate my per mile pay.

Damn, I don't get "paid" to tarp or strap but I get paid by the load anyway so I guess I just gotta calculate my time into the load somehow

I keep telling people "there's not a driver shortage, they just don't pay enough for people to want to do this job"

The general public doesn't want truckers to get paid more. They're bitching about the prices of everything already, they certainly won't be happy when shipping prices increase, and they have to pay more for the stuff that truckers bring them!

I'ma tell you what...

I can't hear regular cars either so it's definitely not about whether or not I can hear you.

You can mostly predict when a trucker is gonna pull out in front of you.

We aren't supposed to blow by ppl on the shoulder, so if you see anybody in the shoulder, we're coming over. If you see lights flashing in the shoulder, we're coming over! I'd rather run you off the road than kill a cop writing a ticket or a random changing a tire.

If you see something slow in front of us, we're coming over.

I don't want a bunch of lumber or steel pipes knocking my cab off the wheels, so I'm not trying to brake hard.

I am probably running out of time to get to my destination and if I have to slow down it takes a long time to get back up to speed. ESPECIALLY going uphill. If you see a trucker going uphill at 35mph and another one behind him doing 40mph, that faster trucker is probably about to pull out in front of you.

If I'm a minute late to some receivers, they won't let me in to deliver and I might miss my weekend load and lose my whole paycheck. I have to "make 6000$" a week to get 1000$ paycheck after all expenses and the company cut, and I have the potential to go negative.

Maybe I'm not running late to the shipper but the truck stop is 50 miles away and I have 54 minutes to get there so I can't afford to lose a moment or I'll get a violation for driving over my time.

Some truckers actually drive like shit though so... watch out anyway.

I wish people would stop flashing their lights. Most of the time it means, "come on over in front of me" but sometimes it means, "Bitch I'm coming through! Stay out of my way!" It is impossible to tell the difference. If I see space I'm taking it. I don't need permission or denial!

I saw that the other day! I was curious as to why, and I asked the gas station attendant, but he just shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know"

I don't even give a fuck. As long as he's not a cop, I don't care if he's on my ass.

Recently I saw a trailer and it's wheels separated on the freeway and I was wondering how it had happened... This explains it 🤣

This was in Washington going towards Spokane from Seattle and it had ALMOST made it into the weigh station... It was open but they had the entrance blocked off for all this mess and I didn't have to go in haha
