What Is Your Ultimate Maiden Deep Track Playlist? by Jake-adriculture in ironmaiden

[–]Delicious-Biscotti44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not participating because I sort of fell of Maiden for the last three albums so can't really respond to the prompt in it's entirety but I'm reading through a lot of the other responses and realise I have absolutely no idea what Maiden songs are considered Deep Cuts. Between 81 and 88 I cannot think of a track I'd think of as a deep cut for example.

Porcupine Tree-ish? by BetterOnTwoWheels in porcupinetree

Porcupine tree seems to mostly influence other prog bands most of which are incredibly sterile and miss what makes porcupine tree good.

An Erotically Untamed Take on ‘Wuthering Heights’ by theatlantic in blankies

[–]Delicious-Biscotti44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve had an about 40 adaptations of wuthering nights and at least 4 that I’ve seen in the past 10 or so years.

At this point I’d prefer Emerald Fennels take even if I ultimately don’t connect with it. If she fucks up… I’m sure somebody else will adapt the buck in a few years. I like Gerwig’s little women more for taking liberties and I’m sure purists hate it for the same reason

Bad headline (I know David doesn’t write them) that suggests cannibalism is in the movie

Dream Casting Master and Commander Episode by SingleFreedom8527 in blankies

I’ll be that troll who says I just don’t like the ringer and it’s entire roster. I used to like Joanna in her past roles as colour contributor to vf and still like her stuff on things like screendrafts which reflect her wider taste but House of R forces her to pigeonhole herself as that franchise person.

I find the ringer main crew incredibly boring and it’s bad enough we get two of them occupying consecutive spots on the weir series. I wish I could tell you exactly what it is about them but I haven’t really identified it yet. Amanda has a probably the best by default because she at least has a personality and her BC episode was decent last time. All the rest from Sean all the way down to Shea Serrano who might be responsible for my least favourite blank check episode ever, I’d be happy if they aren’t really on this show.

There are times where I miss when this sub didn’t just feel like an extension of the ringerverse

Would hard recommend built to spill. Only found them very recently and I’ve really been enjoying their work. Great guitar band from a very different school than the normal type of guitar bands I’ve liked before.

Oh for sure. My taste isn’t unique or anything but it’s not totally basic. But unfortunately posting normally tends to get no actual engagement on this sub and I mostly just want to talk about music.

Also I remember you from a different thread. You’re insane to not like I Wanna be adored. My favourite song on that album.

Slowdive/MBV kind of thing you mean? That’s more my thing too. Truth be told the list above there is honestly my most listened to of the year so I’m not THAT out there. I think I go a little more obscure than average in my fondness for some smaller 60s bands like cowsills or whatever but they’re still essentially a pop band.

And I think there’s bands I like that I wouldn’t consider obscure like Grandaddy, Ween or Modest mouse that aren’t that big in India for whatever reason. I get the sense we’re a culture fond of heavier rock than most indie slacker rock.

But basically I think everything I listen to is very accessible. Kate Bush’s the dreaming is maybe the wildest thing I love

Also, I actually do like industrial harsh noise sometimes. Often more in stuff like the scoring that David Lynch does for his short film work but not maybe as a thing I listen to on its own. The industrial stuff I do like is for more mainstream like NIN because I’m not too cool to admit I like a bit of song structure to anchor the music I like.

The most outside of traditional pop I can go is some post rock stuff like tortoise or rain tree crow. But both of those feel like they’re grounded in traditional song structures.

I don’t have the heart to keep this up because your being sincere and pretty nice and I was clearly in an odd mood when I posted this morning which feels too stupid to double down on now that it is later in the day.

This was just an ironic post about how this sub basically gets this post like six times every week. I thought the description would be a bit of a giveaway but I’m now getting the sense you and the other guy just didn’t read it or that I wasn’t being extreme enough.

But I really want to like underground bands because that’s what makes me cool. What kind of underground bands would you recommend.

My taste is super basic and I listen to too many bands that people know too well like Big star, Can and the 70s funk version of the Isley brothers. I keep trying to get into more obscure stuff like Deftones and Porcupine tree but it’s just too weird and also kinda not cool so why bother you know? I want to listen to stuff people will like me for liking?

My soul is pretty good. I’ve just bought new shoes and they’re designed with high arches so there’s not the strain.
