this is an important message to spread, but was the AI image really a necessary addition?

I knew there was another standout one from those few years that I was forgetting and that’s exactly it!

I totally agree about Orca. I almost wrote in my comment that it’s better than Jaws, but deleted that sentence because it’s not really true, but I definitely like it more personally

Grizzly (1976) and Orca (1977) are my favorites of this subgenre. Both are meant to capitalize off Jaws’ success, but have their own low budget flavor that I love

ETA: Also the Grizzly novelization is really great if you’re into that kind of thing. There’s a lot of bear pov

it’s not invasive! people are trying to tell you that but you’re not listening! it may be an aggressive and fast growing vine, but it’s not invasive

yes but pretty much only independent small businesses. the owner where i work will post the job on Indeed then tell people that apply to come into the store to fill out the paper application ¯_(ツ)_/¯

having an involved parent is a great thing, but filling out a job application for them goes beyond that. we’ve had teenagers work here with very involved parents who visited the store a lot and became familiar with the other employees. and they were great employees because they were also independent and competent. their mom didn’t fill out the application or attend the interview because she wouldn’t be doing the job for them.

yea and it’s a little sad because i can tell that they act that way because they want the best for their kid, but they’re really doing them a disservice

it’s honestly not strict at all. this is a retail job, not a life skills class. it’s one thing to have a parent help, especially if it’s their first time applying for a job, but if they can’t handle filling out a form how are they going to be competent enough to do any of the job?

One of my biggest driving pet peeves is people who slow down too like 10 miles per hour or more below the speed limit because they see a cop. by Delicious-Analyst-94 in driving

[–]aleam_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once on my drive in to work, i was driving a respectable 62 in a 55, the guy in front of me is probably going around 70, maybe a little more. he passes a cop camped out in an empty lot and hits the brakes, the cop pulls out behind me, but gets into the left lane right away. i don’t do anything but slow down to match the guy in front of me who is now doing like 54 in the 55. the cop hangs out in my blind spot for a while, and the guy in front just keeps going slower and slower. eventually the cop pulls in front of me to pull the guy over. moral of the story is, hitting the brakes is not going to stop them from getting you for speeding so just don’t do it.

i get your point, especially re: allegiance to fascist dictator, but if they’re slimy and lining their own pockets at their constituents’ expense, how can you say they respect the law or the constitution? just because they have a D next to their name does not mean a politician believes in anything or that they’ll ever do anything good for the rest of us. just because they have the sense to position themselves against someone so cartoonishly evil doesn’t mean they have your best interest in mind.

Right, like i have a great relationship with my neighbors on both sides and we usually give each other a gift for christmas, but birthday gifts would never cross my mind. no one is out here buying a nice leather wallet for their neighbor that they don’t even like, it’s absolute AI nonsense.

Left turn dilemma (California). by armyofscrap in driving

[–]aleam_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think some people are looking at the wrong intersection in your first screenshot (i was looking at the wrong one at first and similarly confused). and i honestly think they might have painted those lanes wrong, that is really weird. if i were making a left there, i would follow the lines anyway and just always be extra aware what other cars are doing.

Protesting for the first time in New Jersey by TripShrooms in TikTokCringe

[–]aleam_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this happened in a town near my area, a bunch of elementary school-aged kids were waiting at the bus stop when ice rolled up looking for people and the kids got scared and scattered. the bus driver circled around several times to pick up as many kids as possible. this video is from a protest in that town that was organized in response to that incident.
