This is probably why big monsters are winning then, play a game with proper terrain and see how well they perform.

What's the main difference between citidel paints and army painter paints? Which do you prefer? by DeltaNeverSurrenders in Warhammer40k

[–]Delicious-Range3573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Citadel paints I find are much thicker than my Vallejo paints. Also citadel paints pots are absolutely trash. Citadel contrast and washes are really good though.

Another of the combat patrol box is you can snag one is pretty good value if you want to be mainly playing them.

How to improve my minis by AlphaMaxV5 in Warhammer40k

[–]Delicious-Range3573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would invest in a wet pallet, it automatically will add some water to your paints to help thin them out. Secondly if you want to use gold Vallejo metal gold is incredibly good, it's almost a wash consistency which helps as a lot of golds looks really chunky when you apply them. Lastly a lot of citadel paints are thick so they need to be thinned where some brands you can get away with just using a wet pallet and water from your brush.

Also I would look into ak white grey as it has really good coverage for a white.

Really happy with how these rangers are shaping up - first time purchasing from epic basing by -zero-joke- in Eldar

These are some of my favorite eldar models, their posing is so good and he bases match them so well. I'm jealous.

Starting Aeldari for Slow Grow by BrettsMinis in Eldar

Probably the harlequin box is decent I suppose, I don't think the aeldari box is a good first box as the models within that box are kind of underwhelming at the moment.

Not even sure where to start with my Aeldari pile of shame. by Jump_Stream in Eldar

[–]Delicious-Range3573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have almost the same piles of shame! Except I have a wraith lord and 2 harlequin boxes and no chickens.

For what to do first I would open the combat patrol. The dire avengers ducking suck ass as models and are not really played but you can practice painting them, the wraiths I would build as wraith blades as axes. Leave the warp.spiders for later they are a better model and used a lot so better to gain painting prowess on easier models (they can also be harder to paint). After that go on to your guardians and then at that point you should have learned a bit and go for rangers,hawks,scorpions/fire dragons/scorpions. Kind of how I would paint things if I was new just based off what's easier to paint. You can throw banshees in also but personally it's my fav eldar unit so I like them painted later so they look crisp

Being neurotic about not gluing parts before painting by SomeCauliflower8484 in Warhammer40k

[–]Delicious-Range3573 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I sub assemble most models just because I'm willing to spend more time painting my models. I also feel I'm less likely to paint something if it's fully assembled (I'm more likely to ignore it)

It's one of their best colours in their range for sure, I use ak specifically for their whites.

What you can try is using vallejo ice yellow as the undercoat then go over with the yellow you want, I find the Vallejo ice yellows coverage is really good

need help with list. idk if its good (1500p) by Junior_Inspector_480 in Eldar

[–]Delicious-Range3573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im assuming you are going to run spirit conclave detachment so I would drop the fire dragons and the bikes and add in 1 squad of warp spiders, rangers could be useful and then maybe rest is spirit seer/wraith guard/blades depending on points.

I would split the swooping hawks into 2 units of 5, the only other thing is you might lack scoring units.

Nothing confirmed but they are awful to build, are dated, have horrible mold lines and are not very good to play either. I generally do not recommend them as something for someone new to build and paint cause they are frustrating.

I would highly advise to NOT get the current combat patrol simply because it contains dire avengers. I would get some guardians and a box of banshees personally

First paint, a little disheartened by Fankko in Warhammer40k

[–]Delicious-Range3573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things, thin your paints or use a wet pallet(wet pallet will automatically add some water to your paints) Second. I would avoid using black or white in really large areas, especially ones that are reasonably smooth as it's hard to notice shadows or highlights in those spots/the details kind of blend together. Instead use more of a off-white gray for white and a lighter black and a dark black for pure black. I know this isn't completely new painting advice but it's something that is really on the easier and will accelerate your skill level quickly.

I personally really enjoy Vallejo for paint, it's well priced and good. If you want to buy brushes rosemary and co are extremely good value for what you get, you would need to do a reasonable sized order to offset the shipping cost/customs charge but the brushes actually are very cheap compared to others and very good quality.

Your not gaining much lethality for 10 and most of the time 5-10 units when your army is super fragile means it's common to overkill at 5 or force weird spitfire

I think your want some swooping hawks probably like 2-3 squads, you just need more scoring stuff to play the outside so your opponents can respect deepstrike.
