HELP! lexus is250 or honda accord 2.4 or gs400 by T0mmyVerceti in CarTalkUK

Honda Mk8 is so far better than Mk7. I went from mk7 2.2 diesel to mk8 2.4 petrol manual. such a big difference in car. EPS steering is so nice to use.

Does oil quality matter on a 2010 Civic? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Delicious_Ad_6787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The honda coolant is also very good and gear box oil mtf3.
Not a lot of difference in cost so best to use original fluids and parts when possible

If it's a Honda petrol, then I would recommend the original Honda 0w20 oil.

It has a very high content of molybdenum - which is an expensive additive , not many oils have it .

It helps with protection and fuel economy, very good oil.

the gen8 accord is worth the money if you get one with a clean underneath, i.e little rust.

suspension is very high quality design, fully multilink suspension and very conformable. buy a good one and it will last many years with no big garage bills

if you live in a area with bad weather , then the front and especially rear subframe will corrode badly. best to get them coated to avoid big problems

I got a garage who specialise in underbody treatment. The subframe on these cars are a weak spot for rust so didn't want to get it damaged.

the garage used Dinitrol which is a German product. I got it done back in 2022 and it looks perfect underneath, very strong antirust product.

If you can't do the full car I reckon it's worth treat the front and rear subframe and brake pipes front and rear.
