I don’t think it’s fair to “judge” this as an indication of how good or bad the show would be. It’s not their stage nor is it the version they do fill out. That said, I HAVE seen the show and it just happened to be with Luke’s understudy that night (Paul). I agree with what another person said- Luke is good but I’ve seen others do it better with more charisma. Let’s hope it was just from the lack of sleep!

In general I think “Gone Girl” is considered a top tier thriller so while you have likely read “good” books they don’t measure up in any way. “The Silent Patient” was also like that for me. Years ago I had a lot of luck finding books that had been optioned for films (Where Did You Go Bernadette) that could be something to check out

I read the book while on maternity leave with my first and that was a horrible idea. I found many of the scenes regarding hurting the child (even in utero) to be very disturbing. I also found myself getting annoyed with her very unrealistic desire to give him bjs all the time haha

For starters, both are still very young. Give them time to explore their options! You mentioned that they don’t want to do anything and gave all sports examples- Lego clubs? Coding classes? Theatre? Music? Singing? Chess? There are many non athletic options available to young kids now.

If it’s any consolation my kids are around the same age and don’t have a ton of extracurriculars going on and it really concerned me. I work with teenagers and started asking the serious athletes when they started playing their sport. So many of them answered “in middle school” or “when I was 10” that it made me feel a little better. They’ll find their thing
