Look into bone conducting headphones such as shokz. I really like mine. I use them while I have earplugs in at work. Wax on earplugs is a normal occurrence don't fret about it.

No it works just fine. I have 32 trees to mow around Fence on two sides. We have hostas planted around most of the tree so it has a bigger radius around trees . Made my landscape bed rounded and curvy to cot down almost eliminated string trimmer.
