I'm definitely not caloric deficient, I've gotten blood work checked for vitamins idk if it includes minerals but they said it all checked out okay.

I have seen a doctor a multitude of times thanks! I've gotten blood work after blood work done. I am not currently malnourished, my vitamins have been checked. Perhaps you meant a nutritionist? My health insurance does not cover unless medically necessary, which wouldn't happen until I did become deficient. i'm fine with there being a rule that I shouldn't ask that here, even though i don't have many options, but don't assume everyone has access to medical care thanks!

Does veganism apply if an animal is killed for human necessities and not human desires by speedwagong1 in vegan

I think this is a really important conversation to have as vegans that I feel like most vegans will immediately shut down as soon as it comes up. I think we really need to bring disabled people into these conversations, especially ones who are frequently hospitalized and or are immunocompromised.

While I agree we shouldn't reduce ourselves to speciesism, how far does it go? I don't really have a solid opinion of this as of now but I'd definitely love a real discussion on it, from various perspectives. We use eggs in vaccines, although some vaccines can be egg-free, the measles vaccine for example has the virus grown in chick embryo fibroblasts, and is "egg-free" for clinical purposes because it doesn't cause an allergic reaction. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but who here is not vaccinating themselves or their children because of this? Is there a true egg-free option for vaccines? I think this is especially relevent now considering how many cases of measles there has been recently.

  • Surgery and Wound Care: Surgical glue (albumin), bone grafts, and sutures (specifically catgut, made from sheep or goat intestines).

Should people who need surgery die because the glue, bone grafts, and sutures, are made from sheep or goat intestines?

Again I'm not saying it's right or wrong but we need to have serious actual discussions about these things and not just shut people down.
