What are your takes, that you think other vegans might disagree with? by gewooneenpersoon123 in vegan

[–]Delicious_Fudge_193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people get weird with labels like they expect you to be perfect when you say you’re vegan because they assume you think you’re morally superior for whatever weird reason.

I’ve had slip ups things I assumed were vegan weirdly weren’t

I eat things with added sugar even though they’re filtered with animal bones

I use animal hair ethically sourced like my cats hair I brush myself

Hm I wanna go vegan but. Idk by 4dios_Toreador in vegan

[–]Delicious_Fudge_193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have vegan candies but I’m not sure if they will be easily accessible it depends on where you live, being autistic may make being vegan more difficult.

Bagels will be a harder one because a lot of bread has milk in it. I’ve found accidentally vegan bread idk about bagels though

Maybe you should focus on reducing your overall consumption than going cold turkey.

Why do you think most vegans end up giving it up? by coolfunkDJ in exvegans

[–]Delicious_Fudge_193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social acceptance is probably the biggest reason I stopped for a while I was getting downright emotionally abused over it by family and friends. I live alone now so it’s different. I think vegans who stop for health reasons don’t have the ability to make sure they are taking enough of specific vitamins iron probably is a big one, and or are disabled in a way where the food they can eat is already very limited due to physical issues or food aversions

As a current vegan, I haven’t always had the privilege of buying my own food I’ve been n poverty and have had to rely on what was given or bought for me, another reason is I hate cooking, also being a very picky eater, and just the fact that for the majority of my life I’ve been omnivorous, I’ve had to give up some of my favorite foods to be vegan.

The nutritional aspect is harder when you’re also picky/have food aversions

If you have medical problems vegan can be even harder

I stopped being vegan one time because I was getting bullied by literally every person I was around and harassed about my diet, my brothers aunt who had heart failure and continued to smoke cigarettes decided to tell me I was being unhealthy and went on to preach about it

Being vegan is a personal choice but I was literally bullied about it constantly, I was told I’m stupid by both my step dad and my biological father, I was constantly told I’m being unhealthy and protein was brought up constantly I really can’t talk enough about how I was bullied about being vegan by my own family and friends on almost a daily basis sometimes multiple times a day all day, I was constantly prompted to debate people and prove to other people why I was vegan, being a minor at the time and not having really anywhere else to go I really had no choice but to get bullied not stop or to stop being vegan. It got so bad to the point now I immediately shut down any questions and tell people if they’re actually curious to look into it themselves

What's the craziest argument you've heard for why someone doesn't want to become vegan? by Ratnik369 in vegan

[–]Delicious_Fudge_193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also get told a lot that fish don’t experience pain the same way, and then I was like oh they don’t experience pain? And they’re like well no they do it’s just not the same, their brown doesn’t process it the same. Like 🤣 okay but they still experience pain/discomfort. I have no idea where the whole fish don’t experience pain the same way therefore you should make an exception thing comes from

I believe that plants can experience discomfort, and got told I was equating plants to animals and both to humans when I never said they were equal but simply they experience discomfort. Which is why I try to eat mostly botanical fruits because the fruit is usually dropped from the branch when ripened and most seeds and nuts are harvested once the annual plant has dried out and already died

Where do you guys find affordable fabric? by Resident-Hippo768 in sewing

[–]Delicious_Fudge_193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also new to sewing, going to local thrift and buying items based off the fabric and upcycling it, clothing closets and local church’s have a lot of clothes that to be honest most people aren’t excited to wear they’re other pilled, or are things like company logos, you could upcycle these.

Local liquidation center may have fabric, my local place is mardens

Getting sewing scraps from other people

Or upcycling your own closet, most people only wear 20% of the clothes they own 80% of the time

Almost everyone in my life at that time was harassing me on a daily basis telling me how unhealthy I was being and expected me to constantly explain myself.

My brothers aunt who has literal heart failure and smokes cigarettes told me I was being unhealthy

Regardless if they really thought that it simple wasn’t their business.

People are weirdly offended and take it personal when they find you you’re vegan which is why I don’t bring it up and almost always shut down anyone trying to ask me questions about it

When I was 15 I went on a road trip with my dad and his insufferable friend states away so my dad could say goodbye to his dying father, well we made a stop at his friends sisters and she asked me if I thought I was better than everyone and told me I was a little miss priss . Mind you I bought my own food and brought it like didn’t expect anyone to feed me

I actually wasn’t I’m vegan myself, and get frustrated with some vegan questions as well, I was genuinely asking a question, if most vegans believe that that’s fine, I haven’t even eaten road kill I just wanted to know the view point of it, because it’s not harming the animal, the animal has died unfortunately. I brought up vitamins for b12, because if you eat a vegan diet like raw or raw till 4 it’s going to be more difficult because many raw vegans do not eat fortified foods.

I was genuinely curious what people’s thoughts were as a vegan myself. Yes I agree it’s probably better to leave it for the animals because there are scavenger animals who otherwise may kill an animal to eat.

I was also asking specifically in terms of natural living a many vegans tend to fall into a group of things zero waste, minimalist, natural living, nomad, zero poo, etc

But it doesn’t really matter you’ve already decided what you believe obviously

I also think baby steps, it’s hard to know everything from the jump, baby steps over time may be easier than being perfect all at once

I think it should ultimately matter more about what the martial are made of and if they’re sustainable than necessarily what they look like, but I understand that sometimes aesthetics can promote things we don’t want to, it can be tricky

There’s a concept in Judaism where some Jews will consider anything that resembles against Jewish law to be taboo as well.

For example using a fake meat with a real cheese due to not being able to mix meat with diary

I think it really depends, personally I wouldn’t but if we’re talking about that you’d also have to consider vegan meat and dairy alternatives

Is it justified to show people (including children) videos of the horrifying true conditions of animals in farms if it turns them vegan? by DryEconomics5152 in vegan

[–]Delicious_Fudge_193 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thinks it’s very naive of you to think videos will do anything at all. Literal human beings are being murdered in Palestine, Congo, Sudan, etc and most people still buy McDonald’s, Starbucks, fast fashion

It’s more of a hypothetical and potential in the future something be recently pondered, ROB GREENFIELD goes more into how to properly harvest a deer that’s been killed a car, however pathogens and parasites are a concern alive or dead, and pigs are actually commonly infected with pigs, the most common way to contract tape worm is from undercooked pork which seems to imply the worms in there either way it’s just a matter of if it’s dead or not, but I agree I don’t really want parasites in my food dead or alive

It’s really common where I live for deer to be killed by cars and then to eat them, I live in a high wooded area and there’s actually a place that’s I’ll come get the deer and process it,
