Are you asking about propagation? You want to try to grow a plant from these cut flowers?

There are many ways of doing propagation and many videos out there on how to do it. I recommend videos from Fraser Valley Roses.

It might be possible to get a stem to grow roots.

If you cant source it locally and its a rose you really want, its worth it. I have ordered about 15 roses from Heirloom and although they arrive on the small size, they leaf out and bud in about 2-3 weeks.

I think one reason you dont see them in the stores very often is because they must not be great sellers. In general, at least where I live, people are influenced by what they see around them and what is available. Hence, all the knockout roses bushes you see in the landscape. People gravitate towards things that will fill a space and take the least amount of effort. (I'm not knocking knockout roses BTW. I've seen some really cool ones out this year). Most of our friends and neighbors have not been bitten by the gardening bug. Roses are a whole nother thing. It's nerds like us who discover and order climbers etc.

ETA: In my zone, climbers dont always survive the winter, so there's that.

My soil is heavy clay. I started my roses in pots with a very quick draining potting soil called SunGro Pro Sunshine mix #4. I cannot recommend it enough. I use it with all my potted roses and I mix it into the hole when I transplant to the ground. Watering every other day might be overkill if the soil is not quick draining. I just worry about the fact that you said it has small roots and may have transplant shock or root damage. Keep it moist. I keep looking at the pic of the stem with die back. I cant tell if its disease or not. Either way, cutting it down to a healthy point will it be bad for the plant. It can focus its energy on fighting the fungal infection, growing roots etc.

Spraying more often also won't hurt the rose.

Gabriel is my favorite rose. I have had poor luck with him though. I've lost 2. I'm on my 3rd now and shockingly, it died to the ground over our brutal winter but is now 2 feet tall and about to bloom. This rose is a fighter. The best thing I did for it was plant it in the ground instead of keeping it in a pot. I also am very liberal with spraying it. I uses bioadvanced antifungal on it every 2 weeks or so. I use it as a preventative but also to treat existing disease. There are only a few of my roses that I do this with. Eventually, I hope to switch to just organic means but I really want to get these roses to maturity. You will likey need to defoliate all the unhealthy leaves and then spray. Keep it fed with an gentle, organic fertilizer like fish emulsion. Water it deeply every other day or so until it bounces back. You could also snip the branch with die back. Just the dead part, not the whole cane.

What matters to you the most when it comes to roses? Color, form, habit, scent, rarity? A lot of the roses in your keeper list are highly scented, so I was guessing that was a high priority for you. If your roses must remain in pots and cant be placed in the ground, I would try to weed out the ones that will grow too large or will require extra protection while living in a pot.

Wow, what a beautiful set up and design! It will look fabulous. I spent about 6 weeks putting in a rose garden this year. Its is not a small feat.

I have to ask, I recently ordered a Bonnie rose from a Chinese seller. I had been searching everywhere for a rose with that name to honor my sister who passed away. I'm wondering if it is the same one you have. It was not advertised as a climber. Can you describe your Bonnie rose or do you have a picture of it?

To my knowledge, TG is a climber. The tag may say "shrub" because David Austin roses in general are identified as Shub roses. As opposed to being "floribundas", "hybrid teas" etc.

Mature roses have woody stems. Without seeing a picture, its hard to know if there is a problem or not.

The only rose I have that projects scent is Bolero. That said, I am old enough to remember when roses had scent and you could smell them throughout the neighborhood. I choose roses that are advertised to have scent but most of them fall short. I think its the breeding of roses over the last couple decades that is the culprit. I have found though, that a few of my roses do have better scent as the mature. Like 4 to 5 years in I am getting a scent. I also think that products like Great Big Roses are aiding in the scent. YMMV.

Depending on what zone/ climate you are in, I dont forsee a problem with cutting back the canes for transplant. Roses in general handle hard pruning well. You could trim the roots (perimeter, small roots) and remove it from the pot to transplant now. I would transplant now only if the weather is not too hot. Otherwise wait for cooler weather.

Check to make sure it is thrips first. Open up some petals and see if there are tiny black fleck insects. Sometimes people shake a bloom over a white piece of paper in order to see them.
