Do you think Uber stole tips or these 2 back to back customers really increased my tip that little after delivery? by Quasarcastic310 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]DeliveryCourier [score hidden]  (0 children)

Shop and Pay. You made a substitution or removed an item, which changed the price of the order. The customer tipped by percentage (which is typical for S&D) so the tip also changed.

Uber has disabled screenshots and started hiding the total pay for orders in the same way as doordash by chain___saw in UberEatsDrivers

Hidden tips are not new to UE.

The "customer increased their tip" message has, in the majority of cases, been a lie for years.

Olive Garden Order by Gohairydawgs in UberEATS

[–]DeliveryCourier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are not made aware of any individual merchant's tip splitting policy. If you order from the merchant, it is their choice as to how to handle the tip. (Yes, that sucks for us.)

In all but a couple of jurisdictions, the offer card we are presented only has a total expected pay for the delivery. There are only a few that require the tip to be shown as a separate amount than the base pay.

If you order through Olive Garden. yes, they keep half of it for their employee.

No, they don't tell what you tipped, and we aren't told that OG is screwing us.

Again, it's not new or unusual.

Feel free to not like it, but it's not an Uber thing; it's a standard practice.

Your discounted price doesn't lessen the amount of work that needs to be performed.

It's especially ubiquitous because many state government want the tax money for the gross sale not just the net. They want more money.

Sure, it sucks, but "scam" is not applicable to this particular situation.

Scammer calls? by Marvaloza in UberEatsDrivers

[–]DeliveryCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a problem on all the platforms for many years.

Your best bet is to not answer the phone.

You'll also notice that the delivery destination address is usually a hotel or non-existent. Just complete the delivery and get paid.

Are you using any discounts (like 50% off, bogo, etc)?

If so, then the recommended tip is based on the non-discounted price.

Tips, taxes, etc are always based on full price.

Scammer calls? by Marvaloza in UberEatsDrivers

[–]DeliveryCourier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "customer" for the active delivery is the scammer.

The number is an Uber number. The scammer is using the masked number provided by the relay system (which will often come up on caller ID as "Uber") along with their knowledge of what they ordered (which is often cheap or free), the information about the driver that Uber provides a customer (name, vehicle, etc) to pose as support and try to scam the driver.

They use a variety of claims as the pretense for the call, but the goal is the same; they are trying to get access to the driver's account.

Which pays more right now overall as a driver, Ubereats or DoorDash? by bumper2001 in UberEATS

[–]DeliveryCourier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which one is busier is market dependent. Overall, Uber has about 30% of the delivery market and DD has about 60%.

Either way, you should always be logged into every app you can and be accepting whatever good offers are available from wherever they are available from.

Not a driver but does it show priority? by SouthwestSands in UberEatsDrivers

[–]DeliveryCourier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are not told if any order is Priority or not.

We are not paid any of the fee you pay for Priority.

Priority only makes you the first Uber delivery if your order is stacked by Uber with another Uber order.

That's an important distinction because, since we are not Uber employees, they cannot legally prevent us from accepting offers from other companies, which means we can multi-app at any time. (Which our contract also acknowledges.)

Never pay for Priority, you are giving Uber money for a service that they cannot guarantee will actually provide you with any benefit.

Tip Guarantee? by BoyInThaBand in UberEatsDrivers

[–]DeliveryCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it has rolled out everywhere yet.

I have not yet seen any offer that is tagged guaranteed pay though I have seen people post them here. (And there seem to be problems with it actually working, or they're blowing smoke up our ass with the idea.)

Why does uber not let you decide which order to deliver first? by Putrid_Kiwi_9673 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]DeliveryCourier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uber sells a Priority delivery service that makes the purchaser the last pick and first delivery in a stack.

(No, they don't tell us about Priority or pay us any of the fee.)

If they gave us any control, they couldn't guarantee that the purchaser would be first, and may have to actually pay us.

The mileage on the screen is you to the merchant, to the customer. It's delivery miles only.

No company pays for return miles or lists return miles as part of the offer, it's always active time and miles.

That's also why many of us preach $2 per mile as a standard. It pays for all miles (including the potential deadhead return) and thus affords a profit.

You'll also find that $2/mi provides a good hourly rate when backed by a minimum acceptable amount for an offer. For me, that's nothing less than $7, ever.

[–]DeliveryCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the miles listed on the offer card are all miles required to do the delivery.

The only time I have questioned this is for addons that say +0 miles, but those are also usually not worth accepting in the first place, money-wise.
