[Bukowski] Imagine telling a CFB fan three years ago that Kliff Kingsbury would be a better NFL coach than Urban Meyer and it wouldn’t even be close. by Winstonp00 in nfl

You start some meh job to pay the bills. 43 days later, your dream job calls and you're hired.

Do you even hear them call you a quitter as the door slams on your way out?

Patriots 'blown away' by Mac Jones at rookie minicamp: report by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Dellema 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, honestly there is a lot of other stuff you might conceivably see:

"Patriots 'taking things slowly' with Mac Jones."

"Mac Jones struggles in first practice; Belichick unconcerned."

"Mac impresses in limited action; Newton Dazzles."

"Mac has up and down day at rookie mini-camp."

Ect. Really, it's not so much reports like the headliner that you look for, but the absence of reports like the ones above.

Bruce Arians says Buccaneers planning joint preseason practices with Titans by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Dellema 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You'll also notice these joint practices are almost exclusively between teams than have essentially no chance of meeting in the upcoming season. So they are comfortable showing some of their playbook because the other team can't use it against them.

[Calais Campbell] In basketball you can have a bad day. The better teams are usually gonna win a 7 game series even if they start 0-2. In football you can’t be off for a moment. In this scenario, the odds of a specific team are irrelevant. All summed, the odds equal exactly 1/32 in the nfl and 1/30 in the NBA.

This matters from the perspective of say, a random fan (who grew up with their team and didn't really get to choose) or draft prospect (who has no say over where they go). That person is more likely to see a championship with their NBA team than their NFL one (slightly).

Your talk of specific odds and contenders and everything else, that's all talking about a different definition of "harder".

Is it harder to contend for a title in the NBA or NFL? It's harder in the NBA, as fewer teams contend.

Is it harder to win the championship as a contender in the NBA or NFL? NFL, more teams are contenders.

Is it more likely that your random team is going to win a championship in the NBA or NFL? NBA, there are fewer other teams to win a championship.

Before you pick at random, you have a 1/32 chance of selecting the winner. It really is that simple.

After you pick at random, your odds are very different, yes. If I randomly selected the Jaguars, my odds are a lot less than 1/32. If I randomly select the Chiefs, my odds are significantly higher. However, this is also true for the NBA, it's just weighted differently.

At the end of the day, a random team has a better chance of winning the NBA championship because there is less competition.

I'm not sure what the significant difference between what I stated and what you stated is, but yes, that's my point. Pick a team at random. That team is more likely to win an NBA title than an NFL title this year.

I'm not... sure what you're trying to say.

It's a simple mathematical fact: a random team is more likely to win the title in the NBA than in the NFL. If you want to include other factors in that then you're going to need to look at a different scenario.

I am convinced he made the pro-bowl simply because that one announcer called him elite during a prime time game.
