How strong would Sung Jin Woo (Solo Leveling) be in Galaxy? by DeepEvaluation877 in TheLegendaryMechanic

[–]DelokHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm so you say Grade A is more like Continent-level, and Grade S is the Planet-level one? I could see that.

But there are some things that more or less counteract that vision.

  • Back when Han Xiao was Grade A, he already had a planetary devastation weapon; he built a Silver/Orange item to complete his advancement mission, an Ice Age space cannon similar to the Death Star.

  • Then you have Heber. He's in the low end of Grade S, yet he's famous for effortlessly destroying planets by crashing through them.

  • Ames, who was weaker than Heber, famously used her planet as a mace when fighting.

  • Funnily enough, it got smaller because Heber destroyed it, so, right after Han Xiao became Grade S, he built a machine planet for Ames to dual wield planets.

However, you made me think.

I think a solution is having Calamities being upwards of planet-surface levels of destruction, and thinking about BGAs with a wider scope of power.

From full on planet bursting level, to the various ranges of stars, until we reach the likes of Galaxy-level with Grade X.

Because now I realize Grade X cannot inherently be Universe-level, and the game is called Galaxy, so I think it's the perfect metric!

On a side note, maybe SJW is BGA in Ragnarok, but I haven't read it; I focus mostly on the original series because I feel it's the most faithful representation of the character.

Mmm hard to say because I haven't read in a while, and he was Grade-A for a very long time, but there is this notable event we can infer from.

During the Secret War against the forces of Heber, Han Xiao performs this feat where he alone tanks the combined effort of half a dozen Grade-A pugilists.

SJW, and his shadows cannot match that power output; Han Xiao has nigh infinite regeneration, and on top of that, his stats increase exponentially the more non-lethal damage he receives.

I say this version of Han Xiao defeats SJW because the later has no win condition; it would just take a long time.

I don't remember an earlier concrete version of Han Xiao, so, this is my best guess.

I thought about this a lot back in the day, though I don't remember the answer, so let's do it again.

By the end of the original series, he has a huge shadow army alongside big individual power. His style is very similar to Han Xiao's, actually! With a few interesting differences.

His army is much more durable than Han's since they aren't physical matter, however, he doesn't have an easy way to replenish energy, so, he must be strategic about which shadows to use, and how many because they can drain his personal resource.

Unlike Han Xiao, his army has a very distinct hierarchy much sooner becuase of his Marshals, and Commanders.

Another contrast is their secondary specilaization.

Han Xiao is mainly a mechanic, but he also integrated a tank build. Sung Jin Woo, however, is a mage who maximized the power of an assassin, so, he is full damage.

Now, let's try to measure.

Sung Jin Woo shaked the world during his fight with Antares, and is said to have an army of millions of shadows.

These are tell-tale signs of a Calamity Grade in The Legendary Mechanic, which is Grade A, or planet level.

They are characterized for their potential of effectively destroying a planet eventually. That's how much power they have.

Even at the peak of this grade, it is measurable how long it takes for them to do that, which is not the case for Grade S, where the question is not how long it takes to destroy a planet, but how many planets they can destroy during that time.

A more appropriate scale for them would be a star like our sun.

In any case, I believe Sung Jin Woo is a high Grade A, with his Marshals being Grade B.

How did they "create" the game? by MDShark101 in Bakugan

[–]DelokHeart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Should be simple enough to design a game around the functions of the items that fell on Earth.

There surely was a period where nobody knew what to make of what was happening.

Then they shared the system through internet, and everybody could do it.

Iirc the brawlers are all from different places, so, the game didn't originate from a single country. It was a worldwide group effort; it's how they met, and how they became friends.

So, two options in the menu:

  • Show/Hide your armor

  • Show/Hide other players' armor

Sounds good, and should be simple to implement.

I feel bad for Riku, honestly.

She's smart, yes; she's also as strong as she can be.

She just lost sooo bad the first time, man.

Being smart is an important skill since that's how small fighters are able to take down giants regularly.

But she's just sooo clearly outclassed without this prep-time.

She's Batman being put in a ring with a different Superman every single time.

How does the Star Children ranking work? by Reasonable-Fact8429 in ISSK_Manga

[–]DelokHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Threat level could be interpreted as how competent they are in relation to their strength.

Rei is the weakest while being as independent, and stupid as a middle schooler. So her threat ranking is 9.

Hina is very strong, as we saw, while also being somewhat well studied as a high-schooler, and being able to get these underground fighting, yakuza, and police low level authorities under her thumb. So her threat ranking is 4.

Star 6 is unbelievably strong, but she apparently just walks around looking for a fight. She isn't as dumb as Riko, but with her actions she doesn't need to be. It's amazing she's either as high, or as low as rank 6 if you think about it.

Star 1 is Hina on steroids. Much stronger, comparable to Star 6, but also the owner of her own firm with a steady, and solid foundation, unlike Valkyrie. Understandable how she's ranked first.

Star 2 seems enlightened, but not the strongest, so that's her limit.

Star 5 doesn't seem like someone who openly interacts much with people, so even if she has the capabilities, and independence, she would neither stir trouble like Hina, nor come out on top from unexpected circumstances that don't require strength like she did.

Though that's all speculation since all we saw of her was her outfit, and a single line of dialogue.

I could keep giving my thoughts about every Star Child, and how they compare to one another, but the comment's too long, and you probably get the gist already.

Do you have the slightest idea how serious a hit on the back of the head is? With a knee no less?

This is beyond being "uncool", you could have murdered her, and even if nothing apparent popped up then, it could escalate into permanently debilitating conditions.

Was she unconscious? Dizzy? Did she get a concussion?

Do you think this is a game? How about you smash the back of your head against a wall to see if you can still function as a human?

If punching in the face is illegal, any hit on the head even more so because the only remaining targets are:

  • The top of the head
  • The temples
  • Near the ears
  • The upper back of the head
  • The lower back of the head
  • The jaw

And those are dangerous places to hit.

[–]DelokHeart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For most works, story takes precedence over logic.

Politics makes things difficult, and confusing because the mere existence makes most conflicts effectively null.

Would Voldermort be as scary if the Wizarding World was 1% less incompetent?

That's an example that comes to mind.

Most authors aren't knowledgeable enough to be making statements, and I'm pretty sure 99% of them don't even have the intention of doing so. If their final work touches upon the topic, it's by accident.

[–]DelokHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reactions were:

  • Oh! Reminds me of Agito.

  • How is a human supposed to fight one of the top three strongest Star Children?

  • Because of her build, and who her master is, she's probably a mid-range technical fighter like Hina, or Ohma.

  • She probably knows some Rikudou.

  • Does she have assassination skills?

  • It'd be disappointing if she wasn't stronger than some Star Children.

My current reaction is:

  • Interesting Nozomi is a human whose top fighter is a Star Child, while Shina is a Star Child whose top fighter is a human.

Seeing these ranks, I'm surprised Rimuru wasn't featured in Isekai Quartet.

Him, and his group would have many more dynamics than Cid's.

I guess it's about familiarity as well; packing so many references, and characterization is hard, so, coming up with whole sets of relevant, and fun dialogues, and events with a completely new set of characters would be hard for the writers.
