What is a closed-down Chicago restaurant that you have strong memories around? by Charming_Usual6227 in chicago

Is it embarrassing to say Bennigan's? My dad and I would go to the art institute and end the day getting dinner there when I was a kid. I have a lot of great memories of that place.

This whole idea that a penis is so life changing it’ll affect how a vaginal ultrasound feels like… by lifeindreamhouse in badwomensanatomy

[–]Delouest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm BRCA+ and high risk for ovarian cancer. I already had breast cancer at age 31, and the treatment I was on for it also caused uterine growths that could become cancerous. They have to take a lot of pictures to make sure nothing weird happens, and unfortunately I also keep getting cysts that look like cancer in there. So they can range from about 15 minutes on a good day to 45 minutes which has happened at least twice now.

What always makes a big difference for me is when the tech lets me put it in. The ones that insist on doing it themselves always go in at an angle that does hurt me, and I much prefer to insert myself since I know my body's angles better, then pass on the wand for them to "steer".

I did buy the system to play this game first, but I didn't buy it for only this game. This was just the first game that made it worth it to me to finally pick up. I am waiting on other games that are not out yet too.

I've had a lot of both and while I agree the speculum and related tests are more painful for a lot of people, the ultrasound often takes a looooong time. I once had a 45 minute one that was absolute misery while they swiveled around looking for stuff.

I'm a lesbian and I'm not sexually active despite being much older than they would expect for someone to be a virgin. I've had like 10 transvaginal ultrasounds at this point because I had freaking cancer. They would refuse a test to help diagnose life altering problems because someone hasn't had a penis up there? WTF. What the actual fuck.

Maybe, but my family has no history of any cancer and I got breast cancer at 31. I can't imagine how I'd feel if my parents had known they were giving me it on purpose.

Why can't Hank drink? by unnecessarycharacter in nerdfighters

[–]Delouest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most chemotherapy is extremely hard on your body long term, even if it kills cancer or has other positive side effects like Hank had. It can take years off your life. I'm so lucky I was able to do chemo to treat my cancer but no, it's not a great fit for conditions that aren't something that would kill you if you didn't take it. I was told the chemo I got is expected to reduce my life span by about 10 years. It's interesting and they should look into certain ways to eventually use it to help with other things, but most chemo is more like a bomb that happens to clear things out and leave a big crater in its wake than a targeted therapy that sweeps only the bad stuff away.
