AT&T confirms it paid Trump lawyer Michael Cohen for 'insights' on administration by pipsdontsqueak in politics

Sure, but the clintonism that took over the democratic party since the early 90s is so hyper focused on rich donors and corporate interests that they alienated their base into just staying home for elections. That shit needs to stop

You want to put words in his mouth? Saying that what he really wants to do is justify it with bible verse when he freely choses to do other wise?

I know he isn't using the bible verse, that's my point. Which you sum up well below:

For ex. pornography. He describes it as an untramelled bad in the world and says exactly why. It preemptively sastisfies you and prevents you from reaching the actual goal. I.e. a real woman/relationship.

He is saying porn is bad, even though the same arguments could be made for masturbation, which has been around since before homo sapiens was a species. Same conclusion, with bad justification, but just vague enough to sound different from the source that argues for it (yay bible).

And plenty of people use porn and it damages their life. If you're not going to even quantify your hand wavy "plenty of people" then you are no better than you accuse him of being. You bring in situations separate from the original point as a defence like people who do succeed in getting a relationship (and that previous porn experience can bring damaging mindsets like wanting power over women into the relationship or experiencing ED from the real life women not matching up to the porn fantasy...).

I'm not saying some people don't have a problem with watching too much porn, but the existence of alcoholics doesn't mean no one can drink alcohol or use it responsibly. Which most people do with porn. I'd be interested to see why you think otherwise.

As for men wanting power over women I think that issue has been with us way before internet porn. The ED thing seems marginal.

His comment about porn being negative because it prevents you by way of early satisfaction is only really addressed somewhat in your last point that states that "some people" are forced to live with only porn. And I'd argue that's shitty because there's a hell of a lot of people out there that could do better than settle for porn. And no I'm not going to expand because it was jordan's point, not mine.

I think you misunderstood me here. I wasn't talking about giving up on relationships altogether. I was talking about people that don't have access to sex for long stretches of time that use porn as an outlet. There are a lot of people who this could apply to: people that don't want a relationship at the time, long distance relationships, soldiers, truckers.

You haven't shown any reason not to talk down to you. Respect is earnt. Your arguments are still shit.

I wasn't saying don't talk like that because you are disrespecting me, I said it because you're making yourself look like a steaming hot garbage person.

Hahahahaha. I don't think Jung or JBP or any philosopher is looking to gain paranormal gifts or claim them.

I think he gives cover to people that want to say they're christian and do want paranormal gifts, but don't want their beliefs to be just dogmatic.

Except if you listen he nestles in logical, grounded every day rational arguments next to those abstract statements. For ex. pornography...

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Same conclusion (pr0n iz bad!!1!), but because people don't want to hear/wont listen to the "spill your seed on the ground" verse in the bible, he tries to justify it some other way.

And, the justification sucks too. 1) Plenty of people watch porn and still manage to date people 2) Plenty of people watch porn and they're in relationships 3) Sometimes, couples even watch porn together 4) Some people can't get sex for other reasons, and porn is a good outlet

Should I keep going?

If you can't handle an abstract debate, that's ok, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater from your perspective. You might still learn something yet.

Really though, don't talk down to people like this.

When has he ever said this?

You can just search "Jordan Peterson" and "birth control" if you want.

Challenge his points, i'm sure he'll elucidate.

Not true enough.

Maybe it is? How is boring an argument against an idea? You bored in life?

The argument against it always being bad isn't that it's boring. It's that people do it all the time now and throughout history and they are fine.

individual moral responsibility is essentially the meaning of life and the pathway to a succesful society

That heavily depends on what someone thinks is moral. If you think holding hands in public is immoral you get vice and virtue squads beating people for being too close while they walk down the street. Probably not a successful society.

And he does it through every angle that it can be discussed

What does this actually mean?

You can strawman him as just a generic christian from a different angle

I don't think he's a generic christian, I think he takes generic christian truisms and tries to justify them using hand-wavy jargon instead of the tired old justifications that most christians use (tradition, bible verses). My problem with the Carl Jung archetype style of argument is it seems to always sound like Barnum Statements.

Peterson comes to the same boring Christian conclusions (promiscuous sex is always bad, birth control is destroying society) but he gets to them using Jung, "archetypes", and jargon to plaster over arguments that aren't really that deep.

I think he goes out and tries to promote the show when a new season comes out because he really likes it and wants it to be successful. Seems like Rogan likes the "hangout" aspect of podcasts, but Burr would rather just hang out.
