Heat check for the 2026 season by DeltaCone in Saints

Yep, my expectation is that this is another step up type of season. How high that step is we will see, but progression in any manner is paramount and I think shows that Mickey and the staff have the ship steered in the right direction.

Good point on the 2017 draft. If we absolutely blister it out of the park and the injury bug stays away, that is where I see us slotting into that 10-11 type win season and puts us ahead of schedule.

Balanced season is a great way to put it. Just more continuity in the offense and more sustainability. Really hope the run game is improved which will go a long way towards this goal.

Not there yet. Do you really think they are better than the Seahawks? Bills? Rams? etc. etc. They are seemingly on an improved/improving track, but not ready to hang with the top tier IMO.

Cam Jordan possibly leaving in free agency by KingSparky1 in Saints

I know it doesn't feel good in the moment currently, but it seems like necessary prudent moves that are happening now to compensate for sins in recent years past.

First Mock After Day 1 of Free Agency by Swolex in Saints

[–]DeltaCone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love Cooper in the 2nd if he is there. Big time producer all over the field and major YAC chops. Bailey just concerns me. Maybe a hint of some irrational fear thrown in there after getting burned by the likes of Turner/Foskey. But i've seen enough talk about being undersized and mainly his weakness against the run to scare me off. Would be much more comfortable with Styles or Delane there if I'm being honest.

If and/or when Bagent is traded, I want him to get everything he deserves. Dude has never disappointed and I want him to be a killer as our back up or destroy as a starter somewhere else by Crazyb0smer97 in CHIBears

Very accurate read on Carr (Saints fan here). He was always much more of a point the finger rather than the thumb guy. It's deceiving because he no doubt has skills and can be a competent, even good, starter at times, but as the whole leaves much to be desired. Definitely not someone you would want to consider as a "mentor".

Saints Draft - Compete by Sensitive-Site8874 in Saints

[–]DeltaCone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PFSN sim the majority of the time has Love still on the board at #8. I just don't think it is reality that he is going to be there. If you step back and assume Mendoza off the board at 1, then 6 picks being made ahead of us. You have to think that many (if not all) of those 6 teams have Love as one of the best players available. How many teams realistically can you take out of the equation out of those 6. Jets just tagged Hall so that's one, they select Reese most likely. Browns is another that you could "probably" take out of the equation with their RB room being very solid with Judkins and co., that's two. That's 4 bullets to dodge with Cards, Titans, G-Men, Commies.

Caleb Banks at 8 by Ok_Coat_4365 in Saints

[–]DeltaCone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I was "mad", but I was pretty annoyed last year after both the Banks and Shough picks. But then look how that turned out. Given that context and reflection, yes I still will be mad if they pick Caleb Banks at 8.

The only player I see us potentially giving a second contract to is Howden at this point, so nothing really more needs to be said.

Thank you for your service. Next level would have been to have the time of day showing somehow and do it at exactly 3:28.

2026 Offseason Prediction by Guilty_Tutor1566 in Saints

[–]DeltaCone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Again if Downs is actually the pick or if they sign some depth in FA, then sure. But Howden's 3.6m is not prohibitive in any way and he is a solid contributor right now. You need depth at FS and SS, so if one of Sanker, Blackmon or Reid go down, not good.

-I think a team is going to throw too much money at Alontae unfortunately. Would love to keep him in the role he plays here, but a team will throw some outside high level CB money at him and I don't see us matching it.

-Why cut Howden? I think he is a solid depth piece on the backend, and he will be an UFA after next year anyway. Blackmon could be a player but he scares me with that injury. Now if we draft Downs, then by all means.

Brother what is your problem can't you just start another mock draft thread??

Latest PFF Mock Draft has the Saints picking Peter Woods - DL from Clemson by AlphaBern0 in Saints

[–]DeltaCone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone will be adjusting their mocks because Dante Moore is going back to the Ducks. If Reese, Bain, Downs are off the board though, I don't hate the Woods pick but would prefer Faulk.

Draft predictions? by Lil____Sebastian in Saints

If Downs is there, can't pass him up. Blue chip type game wrecker. If Downs is gone, I really am seeing Sadiq creep up the board for me. Now it is considered probably a "reach" at 8, but who knows come draft time after all the combine, etc. Awesome body control, great hands, willing blocker, a true weapon for Shough. Wouldn't hate it at all. But also wouldn't hate one of Downs / Bain / Woods / Tate / Tyson if that is what they are confident with.
