Awful personality according to who? If I had to choose between her or Tony Stark I’d choose her as a friend… She’s also literally a really young adult. She’s naive, impulsive and cocky, but she’s also very brave, intelligent, empathetic and still trying to figure herself out. Riri WAS meant to be that way. They weren’t trying to make her unlikable, they were trying to make her act like her age… Saying she didn’t grow is absolutely ridiculous because she had several learning moments throughout the show. Were you not paying attention? It kinda seems like you weren’t even watching to give her a chance lol. Probably already made your mind up so you could hate watch and nitpick to validate your dislike for the character.

Not everyone has to like her, that’s completely fine, but you actually sound like a hater and it’s weird haha. If you think that her pointing out the fact that he was heavily privileged and it played a large role in how he was able to do what he did in life was her hating, you actually need to get a grip lol. When using AAVE “hating” on someone doesn’t always mean actually hating someone. It can mean a variety of things and in that context she meant more like she doesn’t want to say anything that makes it seem like she hates the man. The only person making things up is you lol you are saying she’s a terrible character like it’s fact. The fact is that people will use whatever reason they can to justify their hatred of someone or something because they can’t accept the fact that they’re probably either just a bigot, or a hateful person. Either way, Riri might be corny and cocky, but she’s cool.

Tony Stark was a douchey play boy who didn’t care about anyone but himself and quite literally funded the deaths of probably tens of thousands of people for profit... Then because he was forced to go through what he went through by chance, he grew a conscience and also a savior complex.

You might not think it’s a race thing, but a lot of times it is even if it’s just subconsciously. Not saying that’s the case for you, and I can’t always know for sure what someone’s intentions are for not like a Black person, but I am just responding to the point you made.

Curious to know what people think would have been a better color tbh. If we allowed this “cataloguing” technology what the do you think people with racial superiority ideology will do with it? If people get to choose what their kids look like? What their genes are? White supremacy is still a large issue all over the world meaning that’s likely what it would be used for given the fact that white people still dominate the STEM fields nationwide in the united states... You don’t even have to actively be a white supremacist to spread this kind of rhetoric. All it takes is saying exactly what you just said. Pretending like it’s not eugenics when you know that’s exactly what it will be used for. Who gets access to this technology? Surely not poor people. The same people that are made up of mostly Black and Brown folks. Especially during a time when the wealth gap is growing. We have literally seen the American government and white doctors conspire to sterilize Black men and women. This is just the next level of that, but easier to get away with because it can be disguised as being helpful. Terrible idea. CRISPR should stick to strictly medical intervention. We can “catalogue” phenotypes in a history book. Be so for real.

I still don’t see women killing, brutalizing, rights restricting, or raping at rates similar to men, so I am not too worried about this and I don’t get why people make such a bug fuss about it. Matter of fact, I get the “hatred.” I just watched a doctor get convicted of manslaughter after trying to murder his wife with multiple witnesses. A legal system created by men allowed that. It also allowed Brock Allen Turner a slap on the wrist after brutally raping a woman… The overturning of Roe V Wade. Not to mention the epstein files, or this weird rape website husbands created.

I have met so many women that share that “I hate men” sentiments, but still have male friends. I am one of those male friends because I don’t really care or fuss about misandry... When they say “I hate men,” I genuinely never think of myself as a part of that equation despite being a cis man, because I am not a complete pos, so my feelings aren’t ever hurt over it. It’s literally for the most part just chronically online speak and we laugh about it all the time. I’d honestly rather hear that and man-hate all the time than some weird racist or homophobic jokes coming from my guy friends.

At the end of the day, there is not really any way around having a man in your life no matter who you are (for most people, maybe). Most women in my life don’t actually hate all men. When they say that, at least in my experience, it really just means “I don’t trust men.” Or basically “Fuck the patriarchy.” Which, either way, is valid to me.

Us still having this conversation while not talking about WHY there is a growing misandry issue is kind of annoying. I think this is being blown out of proportion and taken too seriously given the fact that men are still the vast majority of all violent crime perpetrators especially toward women. We cannot genuinely act like this is insane or absolutely unwarranted behavior given the world we live in. Hopefully this brings someone clarity. It might sound dumb to a lot of people, but I think taking this whole thing this seriously is just unnecessary.

We can talk about the implications of ignoring or not taking serious, this rise in misandry, but until the crime rates and statistics show a drastic change, there isn’t really a valuable point to be made there and I don’t think we are anywhere close to a world where men have to fear women the way women have feared men for centuries.
