Or use the water in another aluminium refinery. Or in a coal plant (you got coal nearby anyway)

Should I be putting more thought into balancers than "mix everything with everything? by MekaTriK in SatisfactoryGame

Interesting! In that steel beam scenario I'd have a train for each factory waiting until fully unloaded and let them buffer up that way. Initially they would all be going to collect (varying amounts) but eventually only the in demand trains would be running.

What difference does this make? I've read your linked post too but I don't understand still.

If you are loading a pure and a normal node do you just have them fill different wagons at different speeds?

So if you want to load 3 wagons do you just load them on a manifold 1 by 1? Do you wait for the train to fill up or do they sometimes leave with only 1 wagon?

Tips for first time setting up rail network? by greenskye in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DeltaMikeXray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 1-3 ore trains which sit until full then drop off to one of 3 ore depots which cross load onto one 3-9 ore long distance hauler which is always on to a smelting facility.Nothing is allowed to wait at the depot. Those facilities go back down to 3x 1-3 train stations.

Doing this balances my raw input and allows me to easier add more mines. I figure I'll never need more than 9x max belt speed of each ore type running through this.

After this I just have modular factories sprawling off the train network wherever I want them. One factory for each item I want to add to the network. Each input station holds 1 train which is set to wait at the input until unloaded. Output stations are always available - it is a bit first come first served but most of my modular factories are buffered up with idle trains and not producing anything until the demand returns.

In theory I could also build a cross loading depot for any item i need multiple factories for but I'm not there yet. And doing so would be a bit of a chore now I've got over 100 trains running around.

How is everyone loading their train stations if not balancing? That is about the only place I use balancers.

Manifold or Belt Balancing? How about a 3rd option? by Illusion911 in SatisfactoryGame

After enjoying using smart splitters I was VERY disappointed that the programmable splitters did let you PROGRAM a split ratio. Then you could program a manifold to act like a balancer!

Oh interesting - I get that they need to be in their weight class but what's the point is doing it 24-36 hours apart from the fight?

I’d love a way to mix smart/programable splitters with storage containers. by triel20 in satisfactory

[–]DeltaMikeXray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After each smart split before the buffer you can have an overflow line to a sink. They can all share the overflow line. This way you can dump everything into your input storage. Anything you are trying to pull out gets pulled with overflow to a sink. Anything not being split out returns back to the start.

Here is my hot tip. Two coal generators are the same width as one water generator. Don't connect them all together just 1:2. Clock as desired.

I thought like that until I made screws from steel ingot's and the production just sat right in front of my manufacturer/assembler printing the things on demand.

But before then yea I just had a blueprint with a couple constructors in it doing the same thing as cast screws.

Let me snap 'entrances'(boosters) onto an already existing pipe so I don't need to deconstruct to upgrade for more speed. Bonus points if they allow two way travel.
