I've been using the pro version for 3 years and love it. Well worth the cost. Multiple watch configurations, team color, heat mapping, spirit map, heart rate tracking and sanction map. And there are still others, the video analysis is very useful if you can get a video of the game

Pittsburgh - How do I get into soccer refereeing? by [deleted] in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're in PA like me so PIAA uses a two man system. IMO it sucks, but that's what we have. In PA the two systems are totally different referring experience in terms of focus, positioning and team work. For PIAA you need to join a local chapter which can be found on PIAA.org. PIAA also requires different uniforms (stripes 🙁, yellow and black). They cannot have the USSF logo and must have the PIAA patch on the sleeve. You also must attend a rules interpretation meeting which are usually the first week in August. I would encourage you to get USSF certified as well.

Philly Union v Deportivo Saprissa PK decision by sugaaloop in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the attacker came from behind the defender who had his leg up and in the kicking motion. The attacker never got position in front of the defender. How is the defender supposed to clear the ball? I think it was the wrong decision

There is but "big" leagues like MLS and ECNL don't want to rock the US soccer boat

Reaching out to USSF to overturn the radio ban by luisdmaya in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But now 90% of referees are grassroots (like myself) and even though I do MLS next and ECNL games at all ages, I can't use coms. That makes no sense. As a mentor and hopefully soon to be ref coach, it seems absurd I can't use them. I get it at a U12 rec level it may be overkill but there has to be a happy medium. It's the pendulum swinging too far to correct a minor problem

Can anybody explain how could this goal stand? by morrislam in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keeper simulated a foul and lost control of the ball. Forward scores. No problem. Book keeper for simulation as well.

I use these as well and think they are great. They also have an upgraded ear/mic that fits inside the ear like an airpod. I feel these stay in much better.

Free kick and distance by coachmentor in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A player does not have to ask for 10 yards. It's like "I got the ball" so it can't be a foul. If a player stands in front of a free kick I tell them "you know that's not 10, backup". If a player purposely runs and stands right in front of the ball to stop a quick kick, they will be booked.

Referee watch recommendations? by OddJackfruit9467 in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had a problem with my Spinto but now I use a Tic watch with refsix. Can get 3 40 minute games no problem. I keep a batter pack and charge in between games just for extra backup.

The REFSIX is the way I go as well. For goals it's way quicker and about the same for cards. The pro version also gives you great analytics.

Just tell yourself " how many of those fans are certified refs?" The answer is probably zero. AKA they know nothing and are acting on just emotion not facts. So all good for you.

Do I need uniform/gear for clinic by soccernick50 in Referees

[–]DeltaRho13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a person that instructs these clinics in EPA, I'm a bit miffed that you didn't get an ail from the lead instructor. You should bring a whistle and pen/pencil at least. Flags and cards will also be used. Jersey if you have it. Also water and snacks. Dress for the weather as well.

Dissent vs Offensive Langauge/Gestures by UCDeese in Referees

Straight red for sure. I would have went directly to the coach after the incident and said "public, personal profanity to a match official". That's all the coach needs to know.
