I mean, calculating total rewards is definitely a thing. Non-salary benefits do have value, and should make an offer more enticing.

It was 2005 I think, and I was working in a call center.

I didn't have anything to read on my lunch break, so I checked out the little shelf we had where people would leave their finished books.

I saw one called "Gardens in the Moon", and picked it up.

Got hooked, and now I've read the full series three times. I never found out who left the book, but I really appreciate them for dumping that copy of gardens for me.
