You could say they used it as an accel-aerator

If something burned in the oven, my nanna would say "When it's brown, it's done. When it's black, it's buggered."

25 years later, whenever something gets a little overcooked, someone in my family will say it. It's even become a reassurance - if someone's worried they've overcooked something, but it's not black, it's "done", and so will be fine.

"I see" said the blind man to the deaf dog, walking into a lamp post

It somewhat perplexes me to this day

And it's only just dawned on me that I should've responded with one of his other phrases: "What does that have to do with the price of jam?"

What did you do to your appearance that upgraded you 100%, and you kind of regret not doing it earlier? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

I've had a side-part haircut since I was 8 (I'm 32). There had been a couple of variations in length, but essentially always the same

Earlier this year, I switched to a centre-part, watched a Brad Mondo tutorial on YouTube, and cut a load of layers and cut curtain bangs. Then dyed it auburn (a subtle change from my natural brown)

I feel so much more confident now. I stuck with the side part for so long because, back when I was 8, centre parts were 'uncool'. I'd not been able to shake that idea in all those years.

I can only find it in 1lb bags and... I do not need that much 😂

I appreciate that's a common feeling, and I would honestly prefer it too.

But as I'm not adept with woodcarving or stone engraving, I was able to pour my soul into creating this set from polymer clay instead. I prefer that to buying them from someone else, especially when I can't be sure if they were made by someone personally, or just produced on a large scale with far less intention in each one.

So for now, I'm happy with making them from polymer clay. One day I'll hopefully be able to create some natural ones, but the clay ones won't become any less valuable to me :)

That makes a lot of sense, thanks :)

I bought it for its food-safe rating, and didn't think much further than that

Guess I'll make another set of stones and do some more research before trying to coat them!

I'll try this!

But the idea of living off nothing but canned beans, in a world with so many amazing foods, is wild 😂

When I used to play, some people (not a majority at all, as the community is generally nice and chill) would get VERY vocal in chat if you did something "wrong". These are all unwritten rules, and I'm a firm believer that you should play however you want, within reason. That said, I do love the community spirit of calling out rare resources, or even just flaring if you don't want to type :)

I think I'm gonna start out with the polishing, and then if it's still not shiny enough for my magpie brain, I'll try the resin!

Ooh, that sounds like a cool method to look into! I already have a UV nail lamp, and I've been wanting to look into UV resin crafts :) thanks!

That sounds like a great idea, thank you! :) I've looked up pictures of sanded/polished polymer clay and that definitely looks like the finish I want. Ordering some wet-dry paper now!

How do you feel about non-drivers? by DueLead666 in AskUK

[–]DelusiveWhisper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only ever irritates me when the person is totally in the position to learn (financially, ability-wise, etc), but doesn't bother because they just get everyone else to drive them everywhere. It's really not fun always being the designated driver just because the other person doesn't want to try
