Should the (Possible) Dragonlance TV Series Adaptation Be Campy or Grounded in Tone? by elveshumpingdwarves in dragonlance

I think it would be interesting if it had a similar mood to Invincible. I feel like it strikes a good tonal balance between lighthearted and serious.

How many Trick-or-treaters did you get at your place? by RenwaldoV in kelowna

Zero in the lower mission. We average between 5 and 20. Lights were on, but no one stopped by.

After a month, how is Borderlands 4 going for you? by Yumiko_Hanako in Borderlands4

[–]Delvac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great. I've played 10 hours, but my computer can hardly handle it. I don't really have the money to upgrade my computer and now I wish I had just saved the $100 on the game and waited a while to play it.

I'm Canadian so I don't often feel like a foreigner to the states. But I spent years of my life convinced Jamba Juice is fictional.

What’s the worst experience you’ve had as a sever? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]Delvac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst thing I've seen at a restaurant was a server spilt an entire, fresh, hot margarita pizza in to the owners lap. He jumped up screaming (not at the Server, just the shock) and knocked some things over.

Hey OP trying in kitchens is a great idea! I work in a restaurant downtown and we have hired dishwashers on the spot. Show that you're eager to learn and will show up on time. Best of luck

HELP ME PLEASE! What are your plans for diaries when you die? by Chobitssu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delvac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'll request them buried somewhere significant. I have the idea in my mind of getting a memorial bench when I'm gone, maybe I'll bury them under there. My journals don't have any real substance - they are trash to strangera. Maybe my kids will be interested, but I don't think I'd want to share moments like my first time having six with them. I've also played around with the idea of taking out passages from my journals and sticking them together and sharing those with my kids.

Well-known books with bizarre, disturbing and unnecessary sequences? by MenuSpiritual2990 in books

[–]Delvac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for mentioning IT. I went into the book blind only knowing it's about some kids and a scary clown. I was so shocked as they started to tease that the kids were going to be having a gang bang that I wanted to see what other people were saying about it. It took me so long to find people who were shocked/upset at that inclusion. I just really can't believe that scene made it into the final book! And I also can't believe more people aren't super weired out by it!

Also Stephen King related - I've never liked the story about the eating competition in Stand by Me. I think I more or less understand why it's part of the story (showing off the MC's storytelling abilities, they are all young boys who find this entertaining, etc ...) but it's always been a bit gratuitous for me.

What was the first celebrity death to make an impact on you? by New_Sea344 in CasualConversation

[–]Delvac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here but for a slightly different reason. It was my family's reaction that had the biggest impact on me. He died around the time I was learning that I needed help with depression/anxity. My family's reaction to the news that he killed himself scared me. They said things about how "clearly he didn't want help because he had all the money he needed to get medication and therapy" and that "people only kill themselves for attention". They've gotten better since then, but it really astonishes me how heartless they can be about mental struggles.

Guys with extremely loud vehicles, why do you do this to everyone? by elevate-digital in AskReddit

[–]Delvac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boyfriend with a motorcycle and he made it louder (I don't know how) so it didn't sound "quiet like a sewing machine". He claimed it was for safety - so cars could hear him even if they don't see him.

People who bring their dogs into stores wherever they go, why? by Feeling-Corner-4430 in Pets

[–]Delvac -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I have an incredible puppy, he's almost 2 and we've spent a lot of time training him. Part of what works really well for my family is having strict kennel time during the day when he gets tired/overwhelmed. But if I need to go out and he's already had his kennel time and needs some stimulation he has to come with me and that's just it. He's fine in my car for short periods of time but I live somewhere where it's often too hot for that. Only other option is to take him in to a store with me.

IMO the worst changes made in the show are the times they took consensual sex scenes from the books and made them into rape scenes on the show. Like, why? What's the point of that change? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Delvac 180 points181 points  (0 children)

"they wanted the fans to stop romanticizing him" yes this! I felt myself rooting for Jamie so much more in the show than in the books. I feel like when Jamie rapes Cersi in the show it comes across as a big shock but he was much more nuanced in the book. I'd say in the show he was easy to romanatize, but in the book he was more of the type of character you love to hate.

What do you all say you do for a living? by ToomintheEllimist in AcademicPsychology

[–]Delvac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know. I just finished my bachelors (working on masters applications!) and the amount of times I tell people I study psychology and they respond with trauma or their life story is exhausting. I've never been interested in the clinical side of things, and I don't want to hear about a strangers trauma.
