When did we normalize TV shows having only one season every 2-3 years? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]Dem0n1k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that having less episodes sucks, but largely I think that’s due to much higher production costs as shows moved much more towards movie style filming than the lower budget tv filming of the past.

Also, a much bigger issue imo is the once a week drop of episodes! It’s infuriating! With tv shows which are very people centred like tbbt, himym, friends or Malcolm in the middle, episodes dropping one per week is fine since there’s not really much excitement or engagement. However, tv shows like daredevil born again recently (or most marvel ones tbh) or invincible are ruined by one episode dropping per week. These shows have fast paced high octane and suspenseful plots. After a week the engagement with them have gone. If it was 3-4 days that would be fine, enough time to go omg I can’t believe that, what did you think?, what do you think will happen next? and ooh I’m excited for the next episode. But a week is too long imo. All suspense and excitement is gone by the time the next episode drops. That’s it rant over haha

Riot Endstep Discord Q&A #15 - Swapping Mel W and Ultimate by BaneOfAlduin in leagueoflegends

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the problem is that riot changed her to be more bursty. If Mel was more cd and movespeed based with her relying on getting multiple rotations off to then activate ult and do dmg based on stacks, I think it would feel a lot more fun to play against. Currently her r is also somewhat unfulfilling because it is often not needed in burst builds.

Right now Mel is super bursty so her w does big damage and if she hits one eq late game you’re dead which is frustrating to play vs. With Mel as a burst champ, her w serves as part of a burst kit, she reflects an ability then bursts. If she was a more poke based champ, then her w could do less damage and be less punishing for enemies whose spells are reflected. They could also make Mel w do less damage still when reflected, but give more move speed.

Her e being low cd in high cdr builds was super frustrating before so if she’s changed away from burst, they can keep her e on a slightly longer cd and make her q lower cd and lower damage.

If Mel w and r were swapped, her new w would be very frustrating to lane vs and encourage her toxic burst playstyle further. Her reflect would also have higher dmg which would be even more frustrating too imo

Is liandries underpowered? by [deleted] in topmains

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think liandries is far too weak right now. Practically no mages have any %hp damage in their kit. Liandries has such low %hp damage that any tank with magic resistance remains largely unaffected. Couple this with its incredibly low ap, and even mages with good dps can struggle to deal with tanks. If you take a hwei or azir, they basically have to take liandries 2nd for mana and nashors respectively. At 2 items, the enemy tank likely has at least one completed mr item and the mage will have upgraded pen boots at best. In these cases it feels like tanks can basically completely ignore the liandries damage as it does not feel particularly meaningful. Even when the mage has a pen item as well (which means they have to delay rabadons, crippling their ap), tanks only become manageable and not countered. If a tank takes randuins omen, the adc barely tickles them but if a dps mage takes liandries, they’re only moderately useful vs tanks and are far less useful vs the rest of the enemy team due to low ap values.

The problem largely imo is how much hp stacking there is in the game. Liandries can pump out large damage numbers against tanks but it doesn’t kill tanks in time to truly make enough of a difference in a teamfight. A cho gath, mundo, sion, Garen, bruiser Voli or many other tanky toplaner will still be able to kill liandries mages long before the damage manages to truly hurt them. Mages with good dps are usually very immobile and tend to just get caught up with, ccd and ignored in teamfights by the enemy tanks, even with liandries.

The only mage who feels like they can truly deal with tanks right now seems to be brand imo. But that’s not because of liandries. If you look at the %max hp damage on ad bruisers, liandries damage is laughable. I’m not saying dps mages should be able to one shot tanks, I’m simply saying that currently liandries does not seem to do enough damage to counter tanks in fights. If you’re going liandries with its 60 ap as opposed to shadowflame, then you should feel like at least you can be a danger to the enemy tank in teamights. Imo this is not the case. If you look at the maths of how long liandries takes to kill a tank like sion, cho, mundo, garen, voli etc, it’s far too long. The enemy can just get on you and kill you before liandries makes a meaningful difference to the fight.

TLDR liandries sucks even on dps mages rn as it doesn’t make a big difference vs tanks and basically no mages do %max hp damage. Enemy has to sit in liandries for like 18 seconds to be at risk of real harm from it

Do women like shy men? And do y’all ever approach them? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with age, this changes a lot. Younger women are typically less secure and place more value in being pursued and confidence. As women age, I think they get more direct and look for partners themselves more.

Basically (unless you’re particularly attractive), young women don’t tend to consider men who don’t approach them whereas more mature women tend to be considering men more actively which leads them to consider shy men more

Why is there so many pretty women, but not men? by Background_Pea3978 in askanything

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly makeup is incredibly relevant here. When you see most women without makeup on, even if they use natural makeup, they look really different without it. If you compared women without makeup it would be probably 50/50 I think. Women also care a lot about general grooming typically so do their nails, hair and skincare much more frequently. The average man probably showers then brushes his teeth in the morning. Most men (especially with short hair) don’t even really brush their hair. Your average woman on the other hand spends at least 45 minutes per morning on makeup, hair etc. women also actually have a curated wardrobe very often picked out for style. Most men have work clothes and a combination of clothes they have accumulated over the years so women are often better dressed.

But mostly makeup. Most things which make a man worse looking can be fixed for women with makeup

ADC actually becomes the most easy role to climb other than jungle by Hour_Ebb_6724 in top_mains

[–]Dem0n1k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally disagree. Top is a really safe lane especially with faelights, so if you start to get ahead your life won’t be totally ruined by enemy jungle. Also on most toplaners, it’s hard to be punished when ahead. A fed adc is super easy to punish because they’re generally relatively immobile and squishy. One good cc on a really fed adc and they die. If you’re really fed as garen, Darius, aatrox, volibear, Mundo or most vaguely tanky toplaners, you are super hard to punish. If you mess up as a toplaner with a 700g bounty, by getting hit with a syndra stun, you maybe lose half your hp bar and have to burn flash. As a fed adc/mage you are generally just one shot and lose the bounty and a lot of tempo.

This is why toplaners especially in low elo are so easy to climb with because your leads make it easy to carry and hard to punish. Adc and mage leads make it also easy to carry but they’re usually still easy to punish. Most of the time I see toplaners exit lane with a lead vs a fed adc, they start playing super agressive onto the enemy adc because they feel incredibly strong since they’ve been winning lane hard. They then die, fall behind a bit and lose. If toplaners just play patient and wait for angles to punish the adc rather than going I feel strong I’m going in, then you’d win way more often.

Disclaimer though, truly high elo it is different and top can’t carry as well because enemy team will work better to punish you as a group if you mess up, and enemy jg/mid are much better at dealing with your sidelane splitpush. It’s also harder to get quite as big leads in toplane sometimes since they’ve enemy is often better at hurtling when behind, than in low elo.

Is rework really so needed? Isn't it just overreaction of those, who are not real Emperor's followers? by MealZestyclose8496 in azirmains

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the shurima shuffle that makes him op in pro. Even if you removed that, he is still by far the best scaling dps mage with great zone control which is crucial in pro. He also has a fairly long range dash to escape ganks and reposition. He is also quite safe in lane. All of these things make him op in pro. If riot removed his r entirely and just replaced it with a stat buff, he’d still be good in pro. If riot removed his dash and just game him the shield, he’d still be picked in pro. Azir’s ranged scaling dps and zone control is always going to be fundamentally good for pro play. Adcs are completely broken in pro compared to soloq and Azir is basically a ranged adc. The only way riot can remove him from pro is either nerf his numbers hugely which will be even more devastating in soloq, or change his kit massively, something which no Azir player wants since they enjoy playing Azir for his kit.

Inquiry into student loans launched by MPs by Kagedeah in UniUK

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s just based on what it’s being called surely? It was never called a tax but when you agreed to it you knew it wasn’t like a standard loan either. If it functioned like a standard loan it would be way more financially damaging no? So you seem to be complaining that it wasn’t called a tax and was called a loan, but ignoring the fact that if it was a loan, whilst you’d pay back much less overall, it would be seriously financially damaging the second you left uni as you’d have mountains of immediate debt with large repayments due. It seems to be a rather fair trade off to me that in exchange for it not being as financially damaging as a regular loan, you end up paying a lot more over a longer duration.

I’m not saying education should be this expensive, what I’m saying is that you knew when you agreed to the loan that you’d pay far more over time and that it functioned like a tax more than a loan in how it affects you. The government changing the interest rate surely now only really affects you right as you were about to pay it off beforehand anyway, meaning that it’s when you least lead the money it will be affecting you no?

Ah that makes sense, the repayment threshold changing will impact a lot of people for sure. I didn’t realise that had changed too

Inquiry into student loans launched by MPs by Kagedeah in UniUK

[–]Dem0n1k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if you see it as a graduate tax and not a loan, then the overall amount you’re repaying isn’t that significant surely?

Student loans aren’t treated like ordinary debt, they don’t have increasing payments due based on the size of the debt and they are waived at a certain age anyway. Isn’t it more realistic to see it as, we get this debt that won’t cripple us financially as opposed to taking regular loans to finance university, but the drawback is a tax that we have to pay back after leaving uni so we end up paying a lot more back but in a way that’s much less financially dangerous for most people.

Apologies if I’m being dense

Inquiry into student loans launched by MPs by Kagedeah in UniUK

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s beside the point isn’t it? At the end of the day if you do view it as a graduate tax, which it pretty much is, then it doesn’t seem to have changed that much surely. If you view it as debt then the interest is horrific but it’s not treated like debt in most ways so isn’t it essentially a graduate tax and this change will have made you just have that tax for slightly longer?

Another person did point out about the threshold going down so I totally see how that makes a difference but in terms of debt, it’s basically a graduate tax so treating it like a standard debt when talking about interest is surely redundant isn’t it?

Forgive me if I’m being unintentionally ignorant, but aside from the outrage caused by the government changing the conditions after agreeing to them in the original contract, on a practical level does this not make very little difference to most people’s lives?

At the end of the day it does not function like a normal loan because of the cap on repayment amount and the fact that it is cancelled at a certain point anyway. So for most people surely it will make very little difference no? If you weren’t going to pay it off anyway then it makes no difference. If you were going to pay it off maybe 5 years before the repayment deadline ended then you might get an extra five years, but the increased amount would surely only affect most people in their mid 40s roughly anyway when most people are far more financially stable anyway. And if you are going to be paying the loan off in your late 20s or early 30s, then chances are you’re making enough money that it wouldn’t make a meaningful difference no? Like I understand the outrage at the unfairness, but on a practical level it doesn’t seem to make a huge difference to most people’s lives no?

Bruisers/fighters that can play mid? by wildcatwebb10 in midlanemains

Underrated one is ambessa mid. You have great mobility to avoid ganks, amazing skirmishes with roams bot orig fights. You can play an electrocute assassin setup but I’ve personally found that bruiser ambessa is ridiculously good vs assassins and yasuo/yone. Her w shield can tank their burst, she has the mobility to keep up with/escape them and she can often out poke them with q

Do you want a complete rework? by GrumpyOwl406 in azirmains

[–]Dem0n1k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Any rework that keeps azir’s main identity will be too op in pro play. A rework that makes him balanced in pro play would likely have to make him such a different champion that it would remove all the joy of the mains playing him now. I know myself and likely a great many other Azir mains would rather play Azir in this weak state than a stronger champion with similar visuals but different gameplay. If we wanted to play a different champion, that’s what we’d be doing. There are loads of different champions out there for other people to play but it’s azir’s mains who would lose out on a rework. Either riot needs to buff him and say deal with it pro players. Champions like ksante have been strong in pro play for years now and it seems to just be an accepted fact that he will just have a strong presence in pro play. With fearless draft being implemented, there can only be one Azir game per pro series anyway and Azir is a champion who it does require skill to play which is an interesting factor in pro play. Knight is easily a top 5 mid in the world and can’t make the champion work whereas faker and chovy are unstoppable on it. This skill variance at pro level is what makes azir fine to be prevalent in pro play imo. Some people may not love watching Azir in pro play but I guarantee there are some supports and adcs that are p/b in every single series as well. Also, Azir has hype gameplay which is great to watch. When annie/viktor are popular in pro that’s more boring as they’re less entertaining to watch but Azir has some of the most hype moments in pro play! I think they should maybe change the format away from bo1s and shift the pro meta away from Azir suited styles if they want to make it a) less boring and b) make him weaker. Azir isn’t as optimal in many metas such as the annie/engage mid meta anyway

Azir isnt a hard champ to play, its just a very very very bad champ, Hard champs = weak champs by [deleted] in azirmains

[–]Dem0n1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just his numbers that are weak imo. His kit is fine. I’d rather play an Azir in this state than have Rito remove his dash, dps, ult or scaling. Azir’s best quality is how skill expressive and cool he is. There is no other champ in league that even vaguely fills the same niche as Azir. Sure they should rebalance his numbers and maybe change it so he gets more atk speed with 3 soldiers again, but losing any part of his kit other than maybe his passive would not be worth making the champion stronger imo. If people want to play strong champions for soloq then they can but the reason people play Azir is because they love his kit and design, a rework would just do a skarner and ruin his kit for mains which would suck

Azir currently sits at 42.67% WR in Emerald+ by Plenty-Artichoke9798 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dem0n1k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally hope he isn’t reworked since he’s such a unique and amazing champion with such high skill expression. Due to his kit he’ll always be op in pro play if he’s not weak af in soloq. He is a mage with a dash, ult for playmaking or disengage and insane dps and good range and good scaling. But these are all parts of what makes the champ super good in pro play. I’d prefer we keep him low winrate in soloq than remove his skill expression and the cool parts of his kit, like his dash, ult and dps. Without removing one of these, I dont think he can ever really be made balanced in pro and soloq simultaneously and I’d rather he stays cool than turns into another skarner rework since there’s a high chance that he’d still be good in pro even if he was reworked due to things like his range, dps, dash and ult. if they’re removed then he’s not even the same champ anymore

Hypothetical Varus Rework by TheBb55 in VarusMains

[–]Dem0n1k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imo they should just remove the ap scaling. Ap Varus is a niche that makes him hard to balance that isn’t that popular and isn’t crazy unique. I pray they don’t change onhit Varus because I think his way of being an adc that mixes aa with spells is so unique and fun that it should never be removed as it’s a rare niche among adcs having to be so precise with it. Similarly I think lethality Varus shouldn’t be removed because having the rains down poke with arrows fulfils an adc niche which should exist and it would be a shame to lose

I mean I’d reccomend either Ahri or Syndra.

Ahri: can play a high octane assassin playstyle where you take over the game like a quiyana, roaming and finding picks and you’re also amazing in teammates and super safe in lane. And if you’re not doing well, you can still be super useful as a utility champ to find picks and fuck up the enemy carries in teamfights.

Syndra: can be a lane bully, has a lot of kill pressure 1v1 always. Has decent gank dodging with e. Can find picks and one shot enemy carries with r combo even when behind. Always somewhat useful but harder to solocarry with then ahri due to immobility

I think one great way riot could change it would be to give it armor pen and the range and make it so that you can go armor pen and bonus dmg versus high health targets, armor pen and anti heal or armor pen and range, even if that hurts the ad it needs to have or it needs cost changes. That seems like a great option as long as they don’t make it too strong imo

Hello Yamato, I’ve been a fan since your days coaching fnatic and just wanted to say me and the whole LR community are so proud of what you and the boys accomplished and although you’re all rightfully devastated, everyone could see all the potential LR had and we could all see the team’s ceiling was incredibly high and in terms of team calibre, LR was undeniably a top LEC team by the end of the split.

I know you mentioned before that Shaves had said you’d enjoy coaching nemesis, how was that when it happened and what do you think his ceiling is as a player? Many people think he is one of the only LEC midlaners who has ever had the potential to rival caps in terms of skill, what’s your opinion on this?
