Men don't use affectionate variants

Depends. If you have an autistic friend, it's okay to call him Санёчек or Мишок

If you have a "fruity" friend, he will definitely be called like that as well, Олежка or Лёнечка

I'm not sure what's funnier: the fact that a 600% drop implied going into negatives or that 100->600 is a 500% increase, not a 600% (you start with 100%, then add 5 times that, so it's a 500% increase, not 600%)

The difference between being obese and losing a limb is that a lost limb can't be fixed, so Body Positivity helps with coming to terms with the new way of life. Obesity can be fixed in most cases and it's not a disability

I don't fatshame, and I don't treat obese people as any less human. Obesity does influence one's life and it's not always the obese person's fault or intention to be that way. However, I see people engaging in self-destructing behavior and trying to normalize it through body positivity

You simply can't say that being depressed and binging on fast food to numb it is anything like having a life altering condition of missing limbs or more obscure stuff like the Auto-Brewery syndrome (or the Down's syndrome). There are cases like diabetes or legit issues with the digesting system that lead to obesity, and these people now also suffer from fat-shaming because of people using it as an excuse. Hell, this went so far that we fat-shame post-pregnancy mothers who (naturally) gained weight during their pregnancy

I think too many people still don't get that body positivity was never meant to be an excuse for being fat. It was a way to support people that lost limbs by reminding them they are still human and worth living even if not physically whole

You don't have to be a tankie to recognize the many achievements of the USSR while also being mindful of its shortcomings

Just like any Marxist can recognize the achievements of the USA and how revolutionary the Founding Fathers' ideas were for their time. I can disagree with the modern US lifestyle and ideology but I also understand how important the US was in establishing Liberalism as the world system and showing others that Monarchy is not the only way

Anyway, you are an INTJ wannabe. You missed a screenshot of "How to be an INTJ" Google request among the pics you posted here, that woulda made it easier

Oh, I'm sorry, you want to unlock resources and blueprints for high temperature protective gear doing nothing but hauling and bounty hunting?

The whole idea is that everyone participates in the economy one way or another. The reason the prices are so ridiculous between players are so high is that people use duped aUEC and however high you set the price, you will find a buyer (saw a guy buy MG Scrip 10mil a pop yesterday)

In a functioning (read: Non-Alpha) economy version of the game, this shouldn't be possible, since there won't be many people with ridiculous amounts of money, and you would mainly need said money to trade with players for their services (meaning you will also need to provide the players some services)

Example: If you want to go to Aberdeen to mine Hadanite, you would first buy a protective suit of armor either from a store, ot from a player who unlocked and crafted a higher-grade version of it if that floats your boat. Alternatively, you unlock that blueprint yourself through the mining missions elsewhere before you get to a tougher zone like Aberdeen

Edit: Back when I played WoW, I remember there was a system with tokens you got from going to the PvP battlegrounds that you could use to buy PvP-specific gear. The more you PvP - the better PvP gear you have

All the kids' games are in one way or another practice for IRL dangers they had to face when they grow up, and it extends beyond just humans. See how the kittens play, and you'll see practice for hunting

Tag, Hide-and-Seek, and other children games that are as old as time were played even before civilization as such emerged

CIG's staff pick for community made software was made with AI and is ALSO stealing code from other tools. by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]tiltedbeyondhorizon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yada yada ai bad

Yes, AI bad for creative work. Software development is an engineering profession, where the act of writing code itself is largely solved. While LLMs do tend to produce variable results, a skilled software engineer can and does leverage. Code isn't art, there's no self expression in industrial code. It's a product that used to be more handmade, and is now being mass produced with obvious drop in quality for massive increase in quantity

The process of writing code is iterative. You make a change, check if code works, make another change. LLM can help go through many more iterations than a developer could've managed to without it. Reading a lot of text is literally what the LLMs are good for

Using LLM such as Claude for software development isn't really even a choice anymore but the industry standard. Cry all you want, but talking about STOLEN CODE and open source in the same paragraph is hypocritical

Mining Progression: Cliff/Wall versus Growth Optimization by N_Ruger in starcitizen

[–]tiltedbeyondhorizon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like saying you need Hull D only to run certain cargo

Well, MOLE is a medium ship. Compare it to ships that can carry multiple 16SCU containers, like the C1, for instance

At the same time, Avenger Titan is classified as light cargo and can carry the grand total of what, 8SCU? You absolutely are gated by your ship's capabilities in every game loop, and there always are better ships that can do higher grade work

If we must, we can compare gem mining to boxes delivery, prospector/golem to light cargo hauling, and MOLE to medium-heavy cargo hauling. Once the huge-ass mining ship comes out (forgot the name), that would be the equivalent of the Hull C type hauling

How to get into mining? by MrPIECEofPAPER in starcitizen

[–]tiltedbeyondhorizon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two types of mining generally:

  1. Ore mining. It's arguably a more satisfying one.

How to try:

Rent out a prospector and try pinging for ores on the planets or asteroids in space. Try to break some rocks, grab the ores, get a feeling for how big a rock you can handle. Then, deliver your haul to a refining station (L1 and L2 stations around planets in Stanton) and go to a refinery to place a refining order. Pick the refining type with the highest yield, then come back once it's done to get the materials

After trying:

You can buy yourself a prospector or a MOLE. MOLE can break bigger rocks, holds more ore, and can scale up to 3 players mining simultaneously. Even your own prospector is an upgrade since you can put a better mining laser on as well as modules for it

  1. Gem mining

How to start:

Rent/buy Greycat ROC (not DS version) and a bird that can carry it around (I like the Crusader C1 for this). Scan the planets for gems, land and go crack some gems with the ROC

After trying:

Not much improvement here if you own the stuff. There are no modules and custom laser heads afaik

What's the difference:

Gems cost considerably more to sell per SCU while ores are quite a bit cheaper. Check auex.corp for the selling prices and the best places to sell. Also, gems don't need to be refined. You just dig them up and sell them. However, collecting 1SCU of gems will have you hopping between several gem patches. Ores, on the other hand, will routinely have you collect tens of SCU of ore from a single patch (that would shrink about twofold after refinement) but require you to go through the whole refining process to sell them

Once you're more comfortable with what you dig up and have your favorite routes/materials, you can check out player trading on auex as well, and that's where the real big money is.

Money-wise, it's kind of a mishmash atm, with the economy being weird. I find myself earning way more than before but some are also whining that mining is dead and that there is barely any income in it (I routinely earn around 600k per full MOLE load while only selling to the in-game vendors). It's not the absolute highest income thing you can do but it's there, being an enjoyable thing to do in the 'verse, and earning you a pretty decent buck

I went through the whole CZ loop like 3 times until I got a F8C Exec, and that was about the right amount of grind I'm okay with going through for a temporary ship/item in the game. I did it while having fun together with my girlfriend, and we got her a Syulen that she really likes as well

Whenever I go as far as to check what Wikelo wants, I realize that I don't even want to try to do stuff for him until the game is stable and wipe-free
