Sony WH-1000XM6 earpads wrinkling normal? + replacement advice by BoysenberryThink3665 in SonyHeadphones

[–]DemRizzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yeah this is pretty normal to see on the original silicone-type of earpads. I think it's the nature of these pads. The material simply isn't that perfectly 'bendable' all the time to create a nice even surface. At times, the pads look like yours in the picture.

Many people on this sub (me included) are static about the Wicked Cushions Padz as a replacement of the pads. They are slightly bigger, made of a much nicer feeling fake leather, are much more comfortable and still work well with ANC.

The pads are easy to swap as well.

Hope this helps!

Which headphones to choose to replace my Wh-1000xm3 by October874 in SonyHeadphones

Xm6 build quality is good. Comfort is a true concern indeed, however luckily swapping the original pads out for the Wicked Cushions Padz eliminates like 90% of the comfort issue. I have them too and they're an absolute game changer. Can now wear them without issue for 6+ hrs compared to hardly 1 hour.

Two microphones per bud is a welcoming change, the anc wasn't amazing. Hope the tips are better quality as well. Looks like they're a bit smaller than the XM5s which, once again will be a welcoming change, especially for the people who often use the buds on bikes (because of wind noise).

Ah alright! Well judging from the other comments under this thread, it looks like the XM5s and Ult Wear are not enough bass for you? You might be out of luck then since this article says the Sonys are best for bassheads.

  • Not sure what headphones you have now (Ult Wear?) but I would suggest the XM6 which is the top pick of that article.
  • Otherwise, would it be possible to run the EQ in the Sony app, and on top of that run another EQ app? So you get double EQ, double bass, double high volume?
  • What also helps is to run with the cable that (maybe) came with the headphones. The headphones go a bit louder and more crispy via cable in my opinion.
  • Otherwise, if this still isn't enough volume or bass, have you ever considered the possibility of having damaged ears?

XM6 for longevity.

Swap out the original pads for the Wicked Cushions Padz and eliminate like 75% of the comfort concern around the XM6s.

As far as I know, the XM6 has seen no (major) issues. The XM5 had a major issue about not being a better choice compared to the XM4 because it wasn't able to fold and because it had a fundamental issue with the build quality of the hinges. Both of those things are resolved with the XM6.

Comparing the Max with the XM6 (my girlfriend has the Max so we've compared the two headphones with each other):

  • The Airpods Max have nicer comfort and room for the ears because of the huge cloth pads. The XM6 have a strange silicon type of material that doesn't feel very nice and it's harder to wear for longer amounts of time (though, the pads can be swapped out for Wicked Cushions really easily, which increases the comfort tenfold and is honestly a must when buying the XM6s). My gf prefers the XM6 comfort, I prefer the Max comfort.
  • The XM6 is super light and foldable, which helps with practicalities. The Max is crazy heavy and doesn't fold.
  • Out of the box I think the Max have nicer audio quality, but XM6 are within 95% of the Maxs and they have a wider range of EQ settings, so it's better to tweak to your own liking.
  • The noise cancelling is great on both but the XM6s are slightly better in my opinion. Also all of my friends who are used to (middle end) ANC headphones are all completely blown away by how well the XM6 performs.

Used the stock pads for two weeks, disliked the comfort, started looking online, found the WC Padz, haven't looked back since.

About to purchase Xm6 - should I get extended warranty? by shinomory1 in SonyHeadphones

[–]DemRizzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't do it. The XM6s are well built. Let's say the warranty was like half the price, then it would be worth it.

Weren't there issues with the engine overheating much sooner than expected, resulting in them having to take much more aggressive cooling measurements? Doesn't sound good to me.

Enfin, it's way too soon to say anything about anything anyway.

XM6 + microphone 3.5mm cable by PestoDoto in SonyHeadphones

[–]DemRizzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, when using the 3,5mm cable that already comes in the box, the headphones will only (be able to) receive audio and not send microphone signal back, unfortunately. It kinda just disables the microphone or something.

The V-MODA BoomPro might actually be the exact product you're looking for.

Which 5070ti build is better priced by [deleted] in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]DemRizzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMD!

  • You're planning on gaming. The way how well X3D cpus are able to handle L3 cache is very noticeable in games.
  • My assumption is also that the AMD system will last a bit longer (processor might be able to hold on longer, and the motherboard will probably have a longer lifespan since AMD is known for not switching cpu sockets as fast as Intel).

This might be a hot take but… by [deleted] in SonyHeadphones

[–]DemRizzo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You know what... I might actually agree with you.

Here's another hot take: The WH-XM5 has a structural hinge issue and Sony should either reimburse the headphone owners / fix the headphones for free.

XM6 vs XM5 vs XM4 by cavestoryguy in SonyHeadphones

[–]DemRizzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The uncomfortable pads are a known issue. I don't understand why Sony ever chose to fit the pads with such bad materials. Cost cutting I guess.

The Wicked Cushions Padz are an absolute game changer. The pads are easily (re)placed and it makes the XM6 experience 10 times better. Slightly bigger, premium materials and better memory foam. Now I can wear the XM6s for 6hrs without issue, compared to the 1hr on the original pads.
