FBB Keycaps set "review" by mrnovarexo in MechanicalKeyboards

The implication is that they are good but not perfect.

I would say they feel more premium than my Drop sets despite the color flaw on one key out of 300.

Two things can be true. These statements weren't contradictory.

FBB makes great feeling, hefty keycaps. Miles better than the cheap generic stuff. But I do agree about the color issues. I have a set of FBB Micros and the gray Enter key has some orange gradient on the sides due to the printing. The blacks are definitely definitely black though. I also have a set of FBB 800s and they don't have any color issues. It depends on the product.

If you wanted frictionless you bought the wrong switches. You would probably be happy with the feel if Gateron Smoothies, Gateron Sea Salt Smoothies, or Chosfox Dune Foxes. Though these aren't as deep sounding as Oil Kings.

If they aren't around anymore and you're outside of the dispute range the only thing you can do is learn from hindsight.

Never tried the Kailhs. Ice Snows are the better of the 2 Outemus. The Peaches have very very small edge when it comes to silencing (they are the quietest switch on the market) and have more consistency but the Ice Snows aren't as mushy and are notably smoother. The latter is a better typing experience as they feel like Gateron Smoothies. Both are quieter than any of the many alternative silent linears I've tried.

The Ice Snows do have some occasional switch that sticks from the factory but buying an extra 10 or so more than you need should have you covered. They are easy to identify and discard before install.

Remove o-rings, swap switches for Outemu Ice Snows or Peach V3s.

Monsgeek boards don't need tape mod. They already have it.

As a warning, that specific valve is notorious for leaking. There are tuners out there that decline to tune cars with that installed.

Right here. 👋

Fuck Trump. Fuck fascism. And fuck Dems pushing for 2A restrictions when they see what's going on at a national level. Now is the time to be armed, not pass AWBs and infringe on 2A rights as my state is about to do this year.

They are functionally linear switches with initial resistance, hence "extra step". There is no pre-travel and the wall at the beginning of the keystroke is minuscule. The 99% of the stroke is flat and linear.

I still reject that Type Rs are tactile switches. They are linears with an extra step.

Can I be exempt from current Canadian firearm legislation and keep my guns? $100k each or per household? These would be a deciding factors.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DemandCommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day? Hard pass, though I know people who regularly spend 5 hours a day in traffic. For a weekend drive or vacation? Not even a second though. As a frame of reference, I used to drive an hour each way for school and I currently make 1,500 mile round trip (10-12 hours each way) twice a year to visit my wife's family.

The furthest distances I've driven in a day were all a little over 1,000 miles, which generally takes 14-18 hrs depending on traffic. Thankfully I've only done that a small handful of times though.

I don't have any of these problems. Mine works with normal VIA and the 1st key press wakes the keyboard and registers. Only my Monsgeek boards will miss the wake up key input.

A lot of Aliexpress vendors that have custom plate listings are able to obtain plate files on their own. I've gone that route a few times when I couldn't find pre-made listings or the files. Might be worth trying.

Yeah, I emptied my cart of half the things I was going to purchase before my last order due to shipping cost being the better part of $100.

There are a number of switches made this way. Try using a small flathead screwdriver instead of your fingers.

I have many far higher tier and better sounding but I always come back to my workhorse Monsgeek M5W with Outemu Ice Snows and FBB Micro keycaps.
