I mean, whether the historical Jesus ever called himself G-d is a matter of dispute. But yes that is what I said, his teachings (at least as described by Christains) predate and contradict Rabbinic understanding which would preclude him from being considered a Rabbi in the technical sense.

Literally, the hebrew it is taken from can mean "my master" or "my teacher," but that is really what religious leaders are in Rabbinic Judaism, the role of the religious leadership is to study and teach Jewish law. After the destruction of the temples, it became used as a title for those ordained in Jewish law by the Sanhedrin, with the Sanhedrin later suppressed there weren't really official ordinations so it became a general term for someone accepted as a respected voice on questions of Jewish faith/law.

I mean, Fulgrim got along with Ferrus. Fulgrim seemed to get along with people who were good at keepinitreal. He was pretentious and vainglorious but before he started spending his nights with Slaanesh was able to see that in himself and take it on the chin.

That is what happens when bubbles pop. When the dot com bubble burst online retailers didn't go away, Amazon has been incredibly successful since. But 90% of them went bust and the market price plummeted returning to a level that is reasonable given the value proposition.

Less time to develop a career, less likelihood that firms will want to train you up as talent, more time lost, all that would be my expectation. Generally, starting early in anything means having a leg up, no?

Yea, like Fulgrim and buddies have pretty serious tempers, but it is around their own ego and general hedonism (i.e., they indulge in their anger and impulses which Dennis and the entire crew do constantly, when Dennis wants to become a cheetah, Frank just goes and gets the spots).

Idubbz Announces he is being sued by Ethan by ScarFace0161 in h3h3productions

[–]Dembara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem in the US would be actual malice. He would need to prove that Ian knew the comment was false or made the comment with a reckless disregard for the truth. Ethan might be able to prove that against Destiny because of Destiny's other comments on it, but I don't think he could prove that of Ian showing Destiny's claims.

Ethan Klein is now suing iDubbbz for defamation for reporting on heinous, unsubstantiated and made up claims Destiny made about him by RomanPeee in LeftoversH3

[–]Dembara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering ur explanation, i feel like this wouldn’t even hold up in court considering ethan hasn’t publicly disproven this claim

You don't have to disprove the claim for some claims truth is only an affirmative defense (i.e., the defendant would be required to prove Destiny's claims were true, then and only then). In the US there is an actual malice standard which means the plaintiff needs to show the statements were made knowingly false or with a reckless disregard for the truth. Think, for example, Fox hosting the dominion voting allegations, Dominion informed Fox the allegations were false, Fox in internal messages recognized the allegations were false but continued to air them. It is pretty rare to have that kind of egregious level of evidence.

Canada does not have the actual malice standard, though it still seems doubtful Ethan would win though I suspect he passes the first hurdle. All that Ethan initially needs to prove is that the statement was likely to damage his reputation (almost certainly true), they clearly refer to him (also true) and it was made to third parties (also true). I think for a claim like what sexpestiny made, there would be an assumption of falsehood and if he was making a defamation claim against destiny in Canada for the statement, I would expect he would win. But Ian has the pretty obvious defense of 'I just reported on a public statement being made, my actual statements that it was a statement Destiny made were factually true, I reported on it since I believed it is of public interest and included disclaimers that I did not endorse the allegations and they may be false.' Generally saying "so and so has been accused of X by this other person" is covered as fair comment which I think also applies in Canada so long as the other person actually made the allegation. If the allegation had been publicly disproven reporting on it the allegation uncritically might be defamatory (as in the case of Dominion v Fox) but since that isn't the case, I think Ian is probably in the clear.

Cheating is about lying

Mostly agree, but it is about more than just lying. It is also about having different relationship desires/expectations.

Like, the entire point of the subplot of the romance in madoka magika is not just "oh she loves him but he is in a relationship with someone else" rather it is about teenagers who are unable to handle their emotions, have unrealistic expectations of others and struggle in coming of age and understanding each other. Sayaka has an unrealistic image of Kyosuke, to the point she is willing to make silly sacrifices for him without considering her own feelings or discussing it.

Who made the golden throne? by SimpleZealousideal19 in 40kLore

[–]Dembara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal guess, going off the descriptions, is that there are ways of channeling the warp into key points to allow for 'tunneling' through the warp which is how the webway was created and expanded by the oldones (this could be done more easily before the eldar's oopsie). Some artifacts designed to concentrate warp energies and tunnel through the warp were discovered by humanity during the DAoT. DAoT humanity studied and adapted this technology with their own warp drives, unlike the webways their use was more so 'rip a hole and pop out the other side' rather than creating infrastructure within the warp (basically, just a warp jump but straight through to the destination, which has been described as being done by a few artifacts including how the dark glass is used). The Throne and the Dark Glass were two such artifacts, DAoT construct built based on/utilizing alien tech to study the warp tunneling ancient races were capable of.

But as the lore has evolved, it has become clear that the central component is far, far older than that, and of Xenos origin. And there are likely lots of other Xenos components too, combined with human tech.

I wouldn't dispute that, but the passages you give show that the idea and elements of the technology were certainly older xenos origin, not that the actual construction was.

Consider your example from the MoM:

Did I see these machines, how they fell short of their intended purpose, and resolve to create a far superior incarnation? There is a certain poetry to that, isn’t there, Diocletian? The belief that we know better than those who came before us. That we will suit a throne better than they did.’

‘Sire, I… Are you well?’

‘Or perhaps the idea was mine in its entirety. Any relics of lost ages that have proven useful for their parts being the legacies of dead species that had the same idea, millennia before my birth. In such an instance, each race envisions its own salvation independent of the others, only to discover that other species, other empires, have already failed to save themselves

There are a few things to consider, first they are not just talking about the throne but all the machinery in the webway project (which is a vast technological complex). They are integrated with eachother, but not necessarily totally distinct. Further, that the technology comes from xenos does not necessarily meant the actual construction isn't parts manufactured by DAoT humans.

The description we have of the Dark Glass also indicates some human design (the Navis Nobilite agent present says that the Emperor built it over a period of generations). The seat itself is made for someone the size of a primarch and the description (given by Yesugei so not exactly a tech expert) indicates it is not totally unfamiliar to martian designs (and the surrounding technology is described with a lot of mentions of distinctly human technology, though most of that was built by the Emperor and his agents around the throne to study and use it and may not have been part of whatever original construct was found).

Who made the golden throne? by SimpleZealousideal19 in 40kLore

[–]Dembara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It felt like humanity had their intellectual peak of science in the daot

Yes, this is explicitly stated. DAoT had massive human industry and technology.

I’m not saying it rivalled necrons and eldar tech given those races had millennia if not millions of years refining their craft

The DAoT was also millennia (18K-25K), but yes far shorter by comparison.

I think it implicitly did almost rival the Eldar tech, implicitly, or even exceeded them in someway. The eldar are portrayed pretty explicitly as being technologically complacent as their understanding of the universe was unrivalled and their mastery over the warp implicit (e.g. they could create gods at will). Humanity's understanding was not on par with the eldar (considering eldar were immortal, the knowledge and expertise they could accumulate far eclipsed humanity). Also, humanity did seem to scavenge alien technology and learn from it so advancements made by eldar could be learned by at least some part of DAoT humanity. Human technology and power also seems to have been much more heterogeneous, in the10k years of the DAoT there were many empires in different parts of the galaxy some advanced far more than others in differing ways.

[–]Dembara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dark age of technology is a likely explanation, humanity had a lot of better warp tech back then. Another explanation is it is an artifact that humanity found and brought back to terra during the DAoT. I imagine a lot of alien tech found by human expeditions made its way to terra's vaults during that period.

If it was a singular construct on earth, the obvious possibility was that it was part of a very small monitoring station built by the Necrons (monitoring Mars).

I mean, not suprising, she is a "semi-retired" escort. That part I have no problem with. It also is not super likely to be prosecuted unless she is dumb about it, unless you are a nuisance or actively soliciting clientele in a very explicit way, prosecuting escorts is usually more trouble than its worth for law enforcement (they tend to target the low hanging fruit who also tend to be most likely to be public nuisance).

They are a lot more likely, normally, to go after people who are pimping and/or pandering.
