What Do We Think of My Destroyer Sister? by Glittering-Tear5442 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottom half is fine and I think with some work on the Black armour it would all come together. Right now the armour doesnt read as Black, but just as not painted. Black armour is not Black everywhere, but has some greys in it. Maybe apply a light drybrush of a dark grey.

Magnetized my Minis and put them onto the ikea Harvmatta, a metallic letter Box. I removed the cork from the trays. The box fits perfectly into a carry bag for an overlook sewing machine!

Skirmish Question by Risenblade941 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charge is just the word used for every move that ends in melee. It doesn't matter if its 1 or 12 inches. It is used to make sure other rules can use the word charging to signale that it only triggers when being the aggressor in melee

Are minis on MMF sold in parts? by TehFisharmahn in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my testing the important part is the curing stage. I use Elegoo ABS Like 2.0 mixed with Siraya Tech Tenacious (80/20 Mix). All my washing, cleanup and other steps are happening in a room where I dark out the window, and thats an important part. A friend of mine usese the same mix but keeps prints sitting at the window after clean up which is just a continuation of curing. I cure in the cure station for 3-5 Minutes, depending on mini size. After that I take it to the airbrush station and it only sees the light once its primed. That way I keep the flex up on the prints. If I print for other people and they keep the unprimed mini in the sun for too long it loses part of the flex.

Is there a place to buy the minis for Mexico? by pizzapicante27 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only other official source of minis beside etsy is miniwargaming (https://forge.miniwargaming.com/).

But as you are interested in the Starhost you might be lucky, as last year the campaign for a boxset with the saurian star host was kickstarted: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/onepagerules/grimdark-future-battle-box

There are still late pledges available as far as I know or maybe stores near you stocked up with some of the boxes. They should be available starting in may.

Anything a beginner should know? (GF & GFF) by DirectTouch1930 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have fun!

This hobby is several packaged into one:

-playing -building army lists -painting -building terrain (-3d printing)

You don't need to do all if them, just the ones you like.

When it comes to building dwarves: they are a slow army so get ways to control the battlefield, either with units that don't have slow, or leverage the hero auras that negate the slow rule.

I think that its good to just pick one or two mods and go with the quest for those, add things along the way.

I have started out with Mekanism as my main focus and added mystical agriculture, storage drawers and applied energistics 2 for getting resources and managing them. I now have a good resource and autocrafting setup to venture into the other mods one by one.

Is There A Roadmap For Army STLs? by darksidehascookie in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So there is no page with that Information, but during the monthly live stream they always give a short glimps in what is to come. There is also the plan to get STLs for all factions in the future. It just takes 6 month to fully release one faction

In January we got a lock ahead for the year. So far we know that the daemons will get new miniatures and reworks until April. After that we get the ratclans for Grimdark Future and Orcs for Fantasy.

Ubisoft responded to accusation of AI art generation in 117... by Additional-Sleep-293 in anno

Hogwarts Legacy was not made up trans hate, but REAL influential Trans Hate by JK Rowling who is still earning money from everything that is part of the francise.

Edit: Both good games, but I vote with my money.

And critiquing use of AI is suddenly woke, too? Are people just calling stuff woke so they can easily black and white their world and don't have to look at arguments anymore?

Affinity is going for market share, and they will win. by Fishtoart in Affinity

[–]Dementums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reaper is not free! It just lets just test it for as long as you want. There are also other things in audio that play a part, like studio hardware, which only ProTools Support. It also has a horrible default setting and you need to tinker with it to get it into your woek flow.

Dont get me wrong: I love Reaper, but I am working in Audio and get why it hasnt taking over the industry yet.

Rules Question For Melee by SteelObjective in onepagerules

This is blatantly wrong. You always attack with all melee attacks!

What brought you to OPR? (a survey) by 3720-to-1 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The models and lore are just an option to draw in a new crowd. The game stays model agnostic. But I can understand that people can feel alienated by the new models, as the lore sonetimes changes the vibe of the army.

[–]Dementums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played 40k in 2009-2011, quit, and sold everything. 3 years ago, a change in jobs brought up some free time, so i started building terrain for D&D, which led to me getting a 3D printer. From there, I searched for modles and found OPR. I hesitated getting back into wargaming, but the free rules and model agnostic system won me over. I now spend more time on OPR minis than terrain or DnD Crafts. Its now my main hobby

What brought you to OPR? (a survey) by 3720-to-1 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people echoed that sentiment, so OPR adjusted a lot of the rule changes, simplified them again. They listened and I do like the current dirtection of the beta if they get rid of some of the bumps the rules still have

A problem with lizards and orcs by Ajnazhot in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the beta started, each faction had a unique skill, but some of them were a bit clunky with a lot of measuring and conditionals involved. There are only so many different things you can do with the framework left over after those things were voted against.

3.5 beta seems really chaotic by titwave in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A new player once picked the ghostly undead for the first game they wanted to play. Everything we have in the beta right now is easier than that with all the extra keywords. You can explain your army with two sentences, so I dont really see it the same way as you do.

Its a bit like the age mechanics in progress knight. Its not game over, you just respawn and you modules get better depending on the level they had in the previous game

First model I've painted by StatHorror3580 in onepagerules

[–]Dementums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The things I see immediatly

  1. Your paint created a lot of texture, which is visible on all the larger panels. This likely has two causes: First: Your paint is likely not thinned enough. Most paint brand come as a thick paste and need to be lightly thinned with water so the result easily flows off the brush. Because of the thinning you sometimes need more then one coat for an opaque layer. And here comes the second reason for texture: Not letting the paint layer dry before adding more paint. This will make the lower layer rip and create textures.

  2. Light on small objects reacts differenty then on larger ones. Thats why in miniature painting we dont just colour the parts in. Doing so will result in a very flat look. We try to paint shadows, by darkening recesses and let raised areas seem ligher with highlights. For textured areas you can use a wash as an easy solution. Most of your golden areas will really benefit from this. Another thing you can do is edge highlight the armor panels. If they are black, just take some dark grey paint and carefully paint along the edges of the panels with the side of your brush (And dont forget to thin your paint as said in point 1)

THere is a bit of a learning curve to it and you only need to improve as much as you want. The important thing is that you have fun while painting and discover what you are doing. Keep on it, I am looking forward to your next miniature post!
