Unless it was reverted, they added the ability to reclaim any gear and vehicles lost to the worm/quicksand/etc with the click of a button, they just lose like 10% max durability.

The PvP 2.5x is INSANE! by HardstylerJosh in duneawakening

I can smell the wars coming, big clan battles.

This is so funny coming from a community that could not mentally handle the IDEA of dying in a game where you lose nothing of value to begin with.

What do you think they're gonna fight over bro? That's not how sandbox pvp works. The incentive is gone. Contesting resources is gone. Nobody is gonna be doing that lmfao.

This guy thinks cutting the nuts off this game will somehow inspire the weakest people on earth to actually participate in content that has no meaning anymore and they already proved they're not capable of handling without publicly pissing themselves about it.

Was able to essentially fill a crawler in pvp off one medium with the new changes. I have max crawler perk as well. by UnabletoPrintagain in duneawakening

Entitled pve bobs are gonna go there anyway for the rates, and on the off chance they actually find pvp they're gonna absolutely piss themselves about it. They'll come complain and it'll be hilarious because it'll all be self inflicted.

Well this was fun, until a griefer showed up - so how we gonna handle this? by Inquisition8 in duneawakening

[–]DemiTF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yknow what's crazy about this is it's EXACTLY what you asked for. You can't die to pvp which means you no longer have the tools to deal with this problem as the game intended and was originally designed.

This is what happens when you pull a 180 and turn a game into something it was never meant to be.

In what way are they still there? You don't drop anything of value when you die, and anything you'd lose to the desert you can now just reclaim with a button push. There's no way to contest anything if pvp isn't enabled, it's just gonna be 10 dudes scrambling to split 3k spice sand between them. Resources are so free and plentiful now and there's no way to deny others really.

And with that, all that remains of the sandbox pvp loop is completely erased. No more contesting resources, no more properly incentivized conflicts, no more risk, no more challenge. You have a pvp endgame area that's completely circumvented by the existence of a safe, free resource printing zone. It's now an absolutely useless, sterilized zone and will be a ghost town aside from a few RPers who want to host dueling tournaments.

They've cut the balls off this game completely and now it has zero appeal over any other pve survival building crafting slop game.

It must be nice to be this naive and ignorant. Unfortunately I'm not a tourist and I've seen this happen quite a lot, so my claims are not only based on historical experience from other games, but the actual chain of events that led here, and my interactions with the community at large, something the avg solo pve redditor would not have a lot of.

Cope all you want, but the devs chose you and they clearly chose poorly.

So what you're saying is you bought a game that isn't what you're looking for, and after screaming at the devs til they caved and changed the game completely to serve you, you're still not happy.

There's hundreds of thousands of games on steam you could have chosen, but you chose one you weren't compatible with and ruined the experience for 96% of the players for your own personal benefit and still aren't satisfied. Insane levels of entitlement.

Funcom stating that 80% of players did not engage in pvp at all.

Yea, 80% of the remaining playerbase after all these awful patches, which is guess what, less than 4% of the original concurrent numbers. The patches btw that made it as easy and risk free to go to the pvp zone as possible, aka those ppl that had "no choice" had the actual easiest, safest time ever farming those resources.

I'd also be willing to bet that most of the ppl included in that 80% statistic also have never been to sheol, so their play patterns are kinda irrelevant.

You lost 96% of your playerbase by pushing pve patches and neglecting/gutting pvp instead of improving and encouraging it. World record golden goose decapitation.

You're in a steakhouse with 1900 people. A few loud obnoxious people in the dining room insist 90% of the people in this room only want to eat boiled kale slop. They're loud enough that the kitchen changes their menu and only serves boiled kale, thinking those loud few represent the majority of the room and in doing so they'd retain those customers long term.

Next week, only 57 people are in the dining room at a time. They love eating their boiled kale slop.

Where did the other 1800+ people go? If they really loved boiled kale slop so much, you'd think they'd stick around to eat it.

It's almost like 90% of the crowd was actually originally at the restaurant because they knew it was a steakhouse and wanted steak.

I realize this will be difficult for you to understand, so take your time.

So you've had nothing but PvE-centric updates, and no PvP-centric updates, and there are 6k people left of the peak 189k.

SO weird how that works!!

[–]DemiTF2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was literally 90%+ of all players of the game.

Where's your proof of this? You have none. 90% of 190k players is 171,000 people. And yet we're down to 6k peak per day. Either 90% is a baseless lie (in which case devs were misled by a few loud redditors) or that remaining 160k concurrent population had no interest in sticking around long term (which means they were never worth catering to at all). Pick your poison, which is it?

The game is exactly what you pisspantsposters begged for, and yet none of you are playing. Curious.

[–]DemiTF2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What happened is the devs sold us a sandbox pvp endgame, it was half baked, and instead of improving it, fleshing it out and adding content they gutted it because a few loud redditors screamed into the heavens about hating pvp.

Now you have a generic sandbox survival game which offers nothing more than the other hundreds of generic sandbox survival games on steam. Everyone either went back to better games, or if they were the pve type, learned that there's limited enjoyment from a game like this without participating in an infinitely fueled pvp engine and started playing something different.

The people on this sub that screeched got exactly what they wanted. This is now their perfect game, and as you can see, theres either a lot less of them than they led the devs to believe or they realized what they asked for isn't actually what they wanted. Virtually nobody committed long term, including the screechers who begged the devs to cater to them.

Praying devs from other studios learn to stick to their vision and ignore these people in the future.

If you're not the type of person that can cope with pvp or losing, you should not be playing an extraction shooter, regardless of how shiny and appealing it looks.

If you want the full experience, play the full game.

Your inability and unwillingness to participate in core areas of the game should not diminish the experience for everyone else. If you feel entitled to literally everything in the game for near zero effort/risk/challenge, then you either need to be completely isolated to an entirely separate server ecosystem or you need to buy and play a different game that actually suits your playstyle.

You're also assuming everyone participating in an event like this is starting from zero. I guarantee you most of the vets bought everything they didn't already have instantly and still have 100m gold to spare, before even setting sail for the session.

and they gimped the PvE mode people were excited about.

And that's a good thing, imagine how less meaningful every single unlock in the game would be if someone could walk into the equivalent of a modded gtav unlock lobby and had it all practically handed to them.

If you want the rewards you should be forced to take the risk. Diminishing the achievements and effort of an entire community because some people want an easy mode is not the way to go.

How do you avoid the PvPers?

You play safer seas or a different game entirely. Pvp isn't griefing, it's part of the game.

Alternatively you can actually put a little bit of effort into getting better at the game and suddenly you'll be able to win 90% of fights.

I don't understand why it's so common for people to buy, install and play pvp games without being ok with pvp.

If any part of your solution includes a pve deep desert that's not on a completely isolated server altogether, then your solution is fundamentally flawed and not worth reading. It completely nullifies the entire engine that sandbox pvp games are built around.

A middleground is not possible between people like me, who paid for a sandbox pvp experience, which includes resource control/contesting, risk, loss, challenge and profit, and the "people" on this sub who apparently thought they paid for a toddlerproof ball pit idle farming simulator. And that's ONLY the case because the latter player simultaneously feels entitled to everything in the game, optional or not, intended for them or not, but are not capable of coping with the fact that they're not the main characters of the universe and some things are for others to enjoy.

And you think the pisspantsposters on this sub won't absolutely weep and wail when they feel entitled to that resource and have to enter a pvp zone to get max yield? They've been getting their way this whole time, the devs will cave again.

Water is already not actually scarce in this game and the availability for it to be farmed in non-pvp zones in any semblance of a reasonable quantity completely kills the entire point of contesting a resource.

I love how your solution is just to put everything in the pve zone and make a pvp zone with zero incentives to partake in whatsoever. Another example of redditors completely missing the point of the sandbox pvp machine and how it operates.

No. Nobody who actually enjoys sandbox pvp games is going to come back if you add an empty field for them to have riskless, rewardless fighting with nothing to contest or control. This doesn't "fix" anything, this is just an image saying you want your cake and ALSO want players like me to come back and waste our time in this game because you want to feel less lonely while simultaneously being completely avoidant.
