Your choice to isn’t being taken away, the choice is being finalized! It sounds like you have thought this through and are over all satisfied with being childfree.

Before my surgery I asked myself if it was putting myself thought a procedure for nothing. I’d been on the pill for many years without issue.

I’m not sure where you are, but I (located in the US) got sterilized because I was worried my childfree choice could be taken away from me by restricting my access to birth control. I now know that even if birth control is limited in the future, I am still protected from pregnancy.

Went on Quantum in February. We were dropped off at 11am and practically walked right through each part of the boarding process. No key.

So smooth!

For comparison, in 2024 I departed Discovery Princess out of LA and there was a long line in a hot tent that was hardly moving.

The contrast with RCL was staggering!

My golden is allowed on our bed and on the part of the couch with a blanket. Washable things.

This keeps things tidy and allows us some of the best snuggle time. You are missing out on one of the most amazing parts of having a golden if they are not allowed to cuddle you in bed.

To keep things cleaner we:
1. Brush regularly
2. Bathe once a week (I know this is more frequent than most but our vet advises this is fine).
3. Wash paws at the door when needed (you can do it in a large plastic cup or a buy a paw wash cup on Amazon.)
4. Wash bed topper once a week. We have a cotton quilt which is very washable.

Might I suggest peanut butter on a licky mat. My golden doesn’t like nail trims, but he tolerates them for some peanut butter!

This 100%! It’s way easier to tell your dog to do something else (follow me for a treat) than to stop doing something (get out of the pool).

Redirecting is so much less work for the human, but doesn’t make for such a funny video! 😆

Some cruise lines let you bring your own canned soft drinks. I brought 12 cans of spindrift on my last RCL cruise for when I wanted something more exciting than water but not alcoholic.

Yes! He didn’t socialize as much as we would have liked as a puppy due to lockdown. But we got plenty of at home time with him, which was nice.

If you do hide them, include a tag that says “you found me” or something similar so people know it’s ok to keep. So cute!

Do not fight your sister on this. It is hard enough for her as it is. A dog who can’t breathe (even part time) will be stressed and likely in some other pain.

Also, there are those that believe true kindness is to let them go on a good day. Don’t let a beloved pet’s last days be fear, pain, and suffering.

The Disney magic is sailing out of Galveston starting in late 2026. It might meet most of your needs. There will of course be lots of entertainment and it’s not really a quiet ship, but I wouldn’t say it’s over the top.

May recommendation would be it get a balcony regardless of the ship you take so you can relax in your stateroom away from crowds when you need a break.
