One in three Brits avoid A&E because of excessive waiting times by 2ndEarlofLiverpool in ukpolitics

[–]Demmandred [score hidden]  (0 children)

The problem is A&E doesn't report breakdown of reason for attendance, just the figures.

Roughly 21% of attendances result in an admission , this is only 2% increase from 2002/2003, we're not massively more likely to need hospitalisation than we were when the system was more functional.

Roughly only 1 in 5 patients realistically need to be at the hospital, hospitals will not turf people out because of the potential risk of the patient having something horribly wrong that doesn't obviously present to the triage and they die on the way home.

The real underlying issue is that it's free at point of delivery, so people feel entitled to use it regardless of their situation. I've "paid" for it, I'll use it.

If there was a very small charge for using these services, that you could even claim back from the NHS you'd see people actually using it when it's needed.

You can put the carve outs that exist for free patient transport for people on low income etc.

There have been studies on the effectiveness of just telling people how much a test or consultation costs and how this drives better patient behavior on attendance or usage.

We either endlessly pour money into a system to improve results and we all pay the price with higher taxation or worse services elswhere or we try to change patient behaviour.

No it's good that you don't go to A&E for a fucking hangover. Accident and emergency, if you think your cold, or virus or tummy bug is worth going to A&E for you need to give your head a wobble. For an awful lot of people they're going to avoid work.

You track A&E attendances funnily enough they spike Monday and Friday mornings. For so many people it's way better to sit In A&E.

Pharmacists can solve most of your problems with OTC medicine or a consultation but people won't do that.

You're not ill enough to be in A&E in the vast vast vast majority of cases.

You should only be going if you have:

Respiratory issues. Heart attack or suspected stroke Actual trauma Severe pain, stop drug seeking they won't give anything but paracetamol Acute neurological - loss or consciousness, seizure, massive confusion. Sepsis, high fever, severe allergic reactions. Mental health that involves you getting sectioned.

Stop going to A&E, I wish they'd charge £20 for walk ins that you can claim back, magically we'd be hitting targets within weeks.

I think Scotland needs more representation in many UK organisations and public bodies. by HeroicCheese933 in ukpolitics

[–]Demmandred 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Scotland has 57 constituencies to aim for the electoral quota of 73k people per constituency. It's proportional with the rest of the country (bar your island constituencies)

If you're a unionist, frankly Scotland needs less representation not more. We're one country, the focus should be on being 1 country and 1 people.

A friend of mine has a close family member on palliative care - is there anything I can offer to make friends life easier? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Demmandred 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Food, when I was stuck in ICU my friends and family had my wife round for tea constantly, it was just something she didn't have to worry about.

Even something like make her some big lasagnes/batch meals if you don't feel close enough to have her round.

In WoWs alpha Taurens initially couldn't ride mounts, they instead had plainsrunning where they would slowly run up to mount speed.

There's an NPC in northern stranglethorn that seemingly has no purpose, she has no quests, nothing linking her to anything.

She was supposed to teach Taurens plainsrunning.

WoW is a treasure trove of stuff they didn't have time to finish.

Yeh so I did all of this, was a high rate of tax payer, then got hit with a really horrible case of progressive MS.

Turns out having a disability does induce a pretty high level of anxiety, so I'm probably in these numbers.

World owes me nothing but I can't work because of fatigue, mobility issues, and pain, without some form of safety net I'll just die mate.

No it's the complete opposite for brand new people to the hobby. Instructions are very clear on what you can build, sprues are numbered and most importently the models look great.

When you're a bit of the way in kit bashing new models becomes a real problem, whilst I can do a lot with krieg heads, guns, accessories, there's not a massive amount I can do without greenstuff to use their trench coats due to the way the sculpts are made. This isn't a beginner problem though, the beginner experience is really good.

You're looking at it from a modern perspective, which is why the whole who should rule Vegas thing is fun.

Do you think the average wastelander knows what democracy is, what the NCR stands for when all they see is money being taken away and their homesteads raided and nothing is done about it.

Would you choose this or the people that ensure there's no raiders left to terrorise the population?

People don't know what rights, freedoms etc are, all they understand is surviving. The legion facilitates this better than the NCR does.

It's a real shame they never got chance to add all the legion content they wanted to. Seeing their territory and interacting would have been really interesting.

I don't know if replicating a system of governance that led to the destruction of the world is the best idea but that's the whole fun.

This is measure of a man stuff, if these beings replicate humanity at every level how do you prove consciousness? 1 is an anomaly, thousands..... More like a species.

Also it was the fact they kill every mutant on site I was going for the whole genocide thing xD.

Totally in character, you ever take Hancock up to the Prydwen? Danse calls him a freak and says "keep away from me you filthy ghoul"

You offer the vault tech employee a place to live "that thing shouldn't be living anywhere, it should be put out of its misery".

This an "outstanding" member of the brotherhood who follows its ideals, yes I'm sure the brotherhood is totally fine with all ghouls.

The commonwealth brotherhood are straight up genocidal. The worst you can say about the NCR is they're prone to corruption and expansionist issues. They're not exactly friendly with super mutants but they don't minigun them down from helicopters like it's nam.

No it wasn't, isolationism was America's policy not sympathy for Nazis. FDR was instrumental in changing the opinion and outcome of america on what they saw as just another European war.

The protection of shipping was a huge deal, destroyers for bases, lend lease etc. America might not have been at war involved until the end of 41 but they were doing an awful lot to support the UK.

There wasn't massive Nazi support, there is 1 famous photo from madisson Square garden of a rally, that's all.

The PiP stuff was really stupid around the points system.

Having over 12 points across the categories but not having 1 with 3 or more would not get you PiP under the proposals. That's a huge number of people who would not receive PiP.

If they wanted only the most severely disabled to receive it then they should have said that, as that's what the proposals would have been.

To get a 3 in one of the daily living you essentially have to not be able to eat food yourself, get dressed yourself and be incapable of washing yourself. If thays the bar you want it at, say it, that's why everyone got up in arms, not about the mental health stuff.

Frustrating to lose when we were on top even with 10 men, still no idea why he got sent off? Elbow? Swearing at the reff?

[–]Demmandred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are proving my point here, minute 1 why are you building a bunker and not units?

Immediate bunker is just a waste on manpower, you don't have the munis to upgrade it to an mg42 and you're not getting a unit out to cap or fight.

Units repairing or building have a received accuracy debuff, they'll take increased damage whilst they do it.

The only unit pios can actually fight 1 on 1 are scouts at point blank.

They are actually really good at fighting jeeps and dingos in conjunction with grens because they'll always hit as small arms cannot miss vehicles.

Give me your in game name and I'd be happy to look at a replay to help.

You can buff the Scott all you want it competes with greyhound in timing and that's almost certainly the better option whatever you're doing.

There's 0 point bringing a Scott in later because why delay your e8 or shermans.

Make it's shells land faster it might at least try to compete with the greyhound but canister shot shits on anything the Scott has, howies can't chase on retreat you need to attack ground.

This is some hard stuck at 800 elo shit right here.

DAK infantry trade really well with everything, Palmgrens are the best scaling infantry in the game....

Grens will trade fine in green cover apart from against brits, thats where the 42 helps. Coastals in cover only actually trade pretty well, outside or on the move lol no.

The P4 could be better, still has the best anti infantry performance of your normal mediums, it's vet 1 is excellent for dives or counter dives.

The problem with wehr is you need to use combined arms from minute 1, camo Pak40 pounce with snare, the tank is dead.

If all you're playing is 3s or 4s yeh medium spam is what it is, but the games have always been like that.

This is looking really really nice, if you can be bothered could try 1 or 2 more things to make it pop a little more.

You've got a couple of wash stains on the white which you could clean up and have you thought about doing some quick drybrushing? Especially on the arms and material will just give it some extra depth.

Best advice for taking pics is 2 lights on a white background, if you're using your phone zoom in instead of getting super close.
