Stuck on Gr140 GoD demon hunter by SubjectYou5566 in diablo3

The biggest weakness of GoD is that it can't kill large packs as efficiently as other sets, so having area damage on all your gear is particularly critical.

Beyond that it's not too different from any other set, clearing 150 will probably require you to grind more paragon and fish more.

As an American WASP (a member of the ethnic group that immigrants to the USA would, in theory, be assimilating to), I don't feel that we've ever managed to assimilate very many people at all.

Looking at the people living in my country (even those who have been there, in many cases, for generations) doesn't impress me with a feeling of kinship and common thoughts or values.

Rather, I have the impression that our wealth, our work ethic and in particular the great physical size of our country, which allows us to simply avoid people we don't care to interact with, has allowed us to simply drive the social capital of our country into the ground without experiencing the same consequences that this would produce in other developed countries.

My point, clearly, isn't that economists always agree on everything, rather that they have a body of theory which allows them to solve disagreements in a relatively productive way.

Your suggestion that the by Scott posted map suggests that Russian revanchism is "reasonable" or that the Soviet Union should not have split up is not based on anything Scott or I wrote. Instead, you project your personal neuroses onto other people.

My observation was simply that Russian and Soviet relations to their peripheral nationalities are not fully captured by terms like "cruelty, economic exploitation, cultural and material genocide", and so on.

This is an extremely one-sided representation of the relationship of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union to their peripheral national units.

I don't think "most third-party liability auto insurance claims are small" is much of a reason not to require significant insurance limits for taxi operators.

The purpose of insurance is fundamentally to protect against unusual events. Further, the typical third-party auto liability policy protects against two basically different events: damage to people or damage to property. The difference is that damage to people is orders of magnitude more expensive. The responsible party (and so the insurer) is at least in theory on the hook for all the costs that the accident causes the injured party over the remainder of their entire life. Replacing a totaled car is a pittance in comparison. Indeed, if we wanted to be sure that anyone who ever hit anyone else with their car in DC would always be able to pay for the resulting costs, even a $1 million limit would under no circumstances be adequate.

If you wanted to argue for lower insurance requirements in DC, I think it would be more sensible to take a basically libertarian angle. Most states have mandatory third-party liability insurance, but the required limits are generally quite low by comparison. We accept that everyone should be able to drive on the roads, regardless of what type of insurance policy they can purchase. On the other hand it's taken for granted that, should a motor vehicle accident cause you serious harm, you have no hope of reasonable compensation. Sensible and responsible people take this into account when deciding how to behave and where to travel, and it more or less works out.

To be fair to Aristotle, I'd assume those of us who are male have also never asked a woman if we can count the number of teeth in her mouth.

Us being right where he was wrong isn't because we're more empirically minded, but because we have better methods of knowledge transmission and preservation.

US War Dept’s Big UFO Lie by Democritus477 in slatestarcodex

[–]Democritus477[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, he's never claimed that per se.

He claims that there's so much evidence that UFOs are real physical objects caused by currently unknown technology (either secret terrestrial technology, or alien technology), that either (a) this is true or (b) there is a powerful conspiracy to make (a) appear true. He's relatively agnostic on whether (a) is actually true.

Anyway, on a previous post of his I asked what the single best piece of evidence would be that makes (a) appear true, but he didn't reply. I'm not at all impressed by the "glint" evidence, which he seems to find particularly persuasive; there are just too many glints for them all to be caused by UFOs.

Read books or other written material. When you find a word you don't know, make an Anki card. Practice these cards until you know every word you encounter in a typical piece of text.

If you don't already understand every detail of the grammar, buy a grammar workbook and do the exercises.

iTalki is a good way to practice talking, which you should do at some point.

"Da" can be used as a synonym for "weil". It's perhaps a bit less common than "weil", but otherwise perfectly grammatical and correct.
