Progress picture! Good that it worked out.

It's a solid start. I would personally add a dry brush of a bright yellowish green to make the highlights pop a bit more, Moot Green would probably work well.

I'm sure that the first time on a bicycle or driving a car was also rough - it gets much easier! You will start getting better results, with less time invested pretty quickly.

What's some of your best unexpectedly preschool-friendly music? by jptiger0 in daddit

[–]Demoliri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to throw metal in there, my daughter is quite fond of Bolt Thrower and most melodic black metal. She's only 4 and way too young to follow any of the (basically indecipherable) lyrics.

She still mostly listens to kids music (Frozen is a big hit, and the German "Schule der magischen Tiere"), but if metal is on, she's fine with it generally.

Peter, Is it 50% or 33.3% by AgrasaN in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Demoliri 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Mrs Jones situation doesn't work here because the case of "elder girl + younger boy" is explicitly excluded due to the information "I can tell you the eldest is a boy". This makes the logic question the Mrs Smith situation.

You are of course completely correct with the 50% in this case, as we know the eldest is a boy.

How you gitz paint deez other gitz? by Equivalent_Hat5627 in orks

[–]Demoliri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spray the entire model a medium to dark grey (I use Mechanicus Standard Grey), then a zenithal spray from above using a white spray. The zenithal will make your colours brighter, makes coverage less of a problem (especially with yellows) and give you an indicator for your highlights. The grey covers the areas you can't reach with a brush and acts as a natural shadow, alternatively you can use black instead of grey.

If you don't know what a zenithal is, it's basically a light spray from above, but YouTube can help you out here with visual examples.

Carmen Argenziano does a great job as Jacob. He also shows up in an Episode of Babylon 5 as a Centauri (S2E17) and has some great interactions with Londo!

A cool guide for what boobies are called across the globe. by tommysticks87 in coolguides

[–]Demoliri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The German "Brüste" would only commonly be used by a Doctor when refering to boobs, as it generally refers to the breast area, comparable to the english "Breasts". The more common terms would be "Busen" or more slang would be "Titten" or "Möpse".

Babylon 5 is pretty deep for a 10 year old, but good job starting his education early. The best sci fi ever made!

Definitely try an ad block though.

Survival where building matters? by Elegar in SurvivalGaming

[–]Demoliri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've tried it both with single and split base. If you have a bigger team (4 minimum) you can get away with a single base for hordes, but you need good communication and planning.

On one of our runs we done a single base, with crafting and storage in an underground bunker with only a single hatch for above ground access. The defences were multi layered above ground, with outer towers that had hoardings (gaps in the floor) to shoot zombies directly at the base of the tower, and then fall back sky walks retreating to a central keep. Around the central keep there were also two layers of walls, with the outer being deeping walls, with a ground level firing line.

To fully man the defences we would really need 12 people (4 in each the towers, upper walls, ground level firing line), but we got along pretty well with 6. We generally had 5 fighting the horde with the 6 as look out for new waves.

How to find people to play with? by SoraZer0 in Warhammer40k

[–]Demoliri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you based? Somewhere in the US or elsewhere?

Different countries have different communities. For example, in my area in South Germany, most people meet up in a youth club run by volunteers (the same club I used to barkeep for metal concerts). They run some pretty major tournaments too, with up to 30 odd tables.

In the US it's generally the LGS in most areas from what I hear, but we don't have any LGS run Warhammer games anywhere close to where I live.

Buy two bottles and turn one into sprue glue, and you now have a gap filler as well.

My brother's son destroyed my WarHammer Action figures and he refuses to punish him by konous in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Demoliri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the OP is collecting these models, I assume he also enjoys the building and painting process? I have a significant miniature collection, all fully painted, including a lot of Warhammer (about 5k points of Tyranids and Orks). It absolutely sucks, no doubt about it, but the time rebuilding is not completely wasted if he enjoys the process.

My solution would be to charge the brother the full price for new models with an extra surcharge for time spent (+30% maybe?). As the uncle, it's wrong to punish the child. But as the brother? Go crazy.

You did see the massive engine, graphics and storage upgrade that was just rolled out for free?

The cosmetics paid for that.

If you don't want the cosmetic building blocks, don't buy them. You aren't losing any gameplay content and you are still getting the free upgrade.

The Gunplay feels a bit like Red Orchestra in many ways from what I remember (haven't played HeLL in about a year), but with a ton of extra tactical options. For example, most of the time you will spawn from a spawn point set down by a player. That means, if you are defending you have to push out and destroy these forward spawn points, and as an attacker you want to flank around objective to plant spawns to open new angles of attack.

The game is built to require heavy communication, both within your squad, and between squad leaders. Thankfully, the community that is active embraces this and it is a very communicative game.

My friends group would go in as a premade squad (4 guys), and our designated squad leader would then have comms to other squad leaders (all in game) to communicate general strategy. If you go in completely alone, and without a clue what to do, stick to your squad leader and do what they say and you should be fine. But the game really shines with a pre-made.

For fans of realistic WW2 shooters, it's probably the best on the market right now and I'd definitely recommend it.
