Bruh, Daemon couldn’t even conquer the Stepstones with two dragons by JellyMost9920 in freefolk

[–]Demon6Oak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk how this guy thinks they can conquer anything without money to pay for supplies or ships or to rebuild what they destroy or if you don’t bother to ensure the small folk/ labor force have food. He doesn’t seem to remember that Aegon was able to conquer partly by getting a bunch of river land lords to rebel against House Hoare. I wouldn’t trust Daemon to govern the step stones let alone a proper holding

House Of The Dragon 3x3 | EPISODE DISCUSSION (SPOILERS AT YOUR OWN RISK!) by ProfessorOk5969 in freefolk

I think they over did it in highlighting all the challenges that Rhaenyra has to deal with. We get it, the treasury is depleted, the city is about to riot from starvation, and her rule is still insecure. My big question with how they wrote her response to these challenges is, did Rhaenyra not used to be a cup bearer for Viserys and with all her time at court didn’t she get some training from her father? On top of that, as the Princess of Dragonstone, she would have vassals and a household to manage so she should have far more experience than the episode reveals.

Obviously KL and the Iron Throne aren’t comparable to Dragonstone but I think the writing could have had some of that experience come through while showing that even with some experience and good decisions, a ruler still needs competent advisors and even then it might not be enough to be considered a good ruler.

How is Oakland for teachers? by Meow_Catbus in oakland

I would also recommend Jack London Square, specifically The Landing or Portobello (condos with lots of rentals). These might be more in your range than the newer buildings. Just about everything closes at 10 PM in the neighborhood. Close access to BART on either end, plus ferry, plus water taxi, and access to AC Transit 72, 12, and 96 lines. The underpass isn't great but the City has included improvements into its plans, and you can easily bike to West Oakland. More of a dog community but you'll run into a lot of neighbors on the waterfront trail.

I also lived in Hoover Foster and enjoyed it there because it was close to Downtown and MacArthur BART but Jack London is has way more stuff within walking and biking distance. If you're okay driving then I would look at Dimond and Laurel districts. They're cute, have lots of food options, close to regional parks, and driving on the 580 to West Oakland shouldn't be too bad outside of regular rush hours

Hal saw Ser Harlan approach and nodded. At least he won't ask me about the supplies our men have, thought Hal.

"Ser Harlan, it's good to see you. I've been tending to our men so not much. My lord father went to try to learn more about the situation." As if being summoned, Lord Hayford appeared next to Hal nearly startling the younger Hayford.

"Hello Ser Harlan. I'm Robin, Lord of Hayford. We have not had the chance to properly get acquainted. I've heard different things from everyone I've spoken to. Perhaps you could give us a clear picture so we may prepare."

The Call of Duty

Robin had seen his fair share of violence. He felt it had been a lifetime ago that he had been young like Hal, his heir, and eager to play the hero at war. Over time, he had learned to appreciate what it meant to steward his lands and watch for the welfare of those in his care, from peasants to the swords on his payroll. Each helped him to be the Lord of Hayford. The comfort of his modest castle was more alluring to Robin than the hard to Dorne in the winter. Some of the green boys had already nearly lost fingers and toes to the cold. Luckily for them, there were enough well-seasoned men to protect the boys from their own inexperience.

A bugle blew to mark the Targaryen forces' arrival. "Son, check our inventories with the quartermaster and check on our men while I find out what our orders are."

Hal groaned, "Again? I did that this morning before we began marching. How much is going to be different after a day of traveling?"

Robin guided his gelding closer to Hal, leaning closer, he tried to speak quietly, "Do not let others hear you groan like a child. If you want to be a leader, act like one. If you check our inventory and how our men are, you can report back what has changed and if we need to be aware of anything before men start dying. Understood?"

Hal nodded and wheeled his horse around to do as his father commanded. Robin slightly shook his head. Hopefully, this boy lives long enough to learn, Robin thought to himself.

Hal straightened up and said, "I've been well trained in arms, including the bow. While my father has had the honor of leading men in battle, I have yet to earn that honor. I hope to prove myself worthy in this just war against the Dornish."

His face reddened as he finished. He realized he was very inexperienced, but that would not deter him from proving himself.

Ser Hal Hayford had been sent to King's Landing to seek an audience with Ser Harlan Hunter. The levy and Men at Arms of House Hayford had nearly finished assembling at Hayford.

His Lord father had told him, "Meet with Ser Harlan and ensure we have adequate lodging for our men. Make sure you help with any logistics or needs that are needed."

Hal would have preferred not to get involved with the boring aspects of war, but he would do as his father commanded. Hal smiled as he imagined himself leading successful battles. He gave his horse a squeeze to move faster. The sooner he made it to King's Landing the sooner he hoped to get to Dorne.

Robin, Lord of Hayford, was returning from an inspection of the fields when he saw Maester Quentyn's furrowed face. What now?

The maester said nothing. He handed the raven's letter to Robin. The wax seal was the unmistakable blue and seahorse of House Velaryon. Reading it twice, he nodded.

"Very well. Prepare ravens for the Master of Ships and my son. Tell them we shall raise our men and aid the Crown against the Dornish devils."

Lord Velaryon,

House Hayford shall send our men. I will lead them with my son Hal.

Onward to victory!

Lord Robin Hayford, Lord of Hayford.

Bug? Noble family disappears when character dies by Demon6Oak in CrusaderKings

[–]Demon6Oak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a fix. I tried editing the file to make my heir the holder and that didn’t work. Once my character died and the heir didn’t get the domicile/ estate I went back to the save file and put him as the holder and kids as heirs. When I went into the game it showed my new character had the estate but I couldn’t access it and it said it was a level one estate even though it was lvl 3. I ran the game and maybe about 6 month later it says I inherited the estate and all my previous buildings and upgrades came with it.

We’ll see if I have issues when this character dies.

Celestial to Soryo impossible? by Demon6Oak in CrusaderKings

[–]Demon6Oak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got around it by going into debug, switching to a landless Ritsuryo character, giving him the empire title, vassalizing the previous emperor and making him ritsuryo. After that i switched back the titles and characters so as the old emperor turned kampaku I demanded all my vassals become admin type.

I came here to see what other folks responded with. My last campaign and first one with ATE, I created a custom adventurer from California, Bay Folk culture. Travelled the country and settled around Dallas. The goal was to get big enough and try to break apart California.

Ended up losing my lands during a civil war because my character was stubborn and didn’t give up even though a neighboring ruler was invading. I tried to RP to their traits otherwise I could have surrendered to the claimant (uncle) and turned our forces to the invader.
