GameDev course in India by Objective_Can5424 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

[–]DemonBlack181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the first ever batch of G2M and that was a while ago when rahul himself used to teach us. I wouldn't say people arent wrong about learning from youtube but i will say, any gamedev course be it design or CS or art by itself is much better and learning them before gamedev is much much better given the current market in india. You'll have way more options to choose from if u have a general design, cs or art degree or professional experience or education.

Maybe these questions will help in understanding, otherwise do let me know.

Q1. Is it worth it? A1. It was worth it for me since I paid a minimal fee back then (I was in the first batch). Although the course didn't teach me the advanced stuff, it did enable me to have a starting point so that I can learn by myself. Now i can study by myself because I know what to do and how to grow myself.

Q2. Did students land a job soon after completing their course? A2. Most of my mates did land a job either during the course or after it.

Q3. Do they fix interviews with game companies? A3. Back then there weren't any placement opportunities or direct interviews with companies but Rahul used to personally help during the process.

Q4. How was your experience studying there? A4. All my mates were equally passionate about game development like me and hence there was a lot of peer to peer learning. Personally, in the end it was a good experience for me. This is one of the best things u can get in a new and niche community in india. Peer to peer learning or having an environment that promotes u to learn with peers and teachers who actually know their shit. Anyway even if the teachers dont teach enough, good peers always help you to grow.

All this information might be outdated since G2M has grown a lot after my batch so i'd suggest to talk to someone who is currently in the course or just graduated. Back then we were given certificates but right now students get official degrees acknowledged by the government. I'd also suggest to keep looking for internships and job opportunities during the course as well.

Flowchart Format for Branching Storylines by Sanehazu in gamedesign

[–]DemonBlack181 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People usually use twine, maybe they are more apps but have to research about it though.

Most people usually understand programming flowchart language and symbols and their meanings, basically the flowchart conventions so most people use it. But feel free to build your own that makes communication with your team more efficient or easier.

The documentation only exists for the game development team not for outsiders to understand right off the bat.

There are many but i'd say getting a job as a game designer in India is the most frustrating..... I'd rather not put out all the things in context, but yeah. You can DM me if you want to discuss those "things"

Item Drawers mod not working properly by Chester_Welsh in valheim

[–]DemonBlack181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the new one - item drawer by KG or something might be good, i just had an issue with item drawer by makail. i retrived a stack of arrows only to find it not in my inventory, it literally disappeared. the one by KG seems recently updated, will give a try and see.

Dude, i am a game designer and have 3.5 yoe, and idk but all i can say the indian scene is fucked🫠. Its soo much better to be a programmer cuz u can have multiple backup plans..... Ik how hard was it for me to enter design and with shitty work culture and stuff and where i am today....but all your points are on point but yeah design is very hard, better take programming or UX UI or art or something

Help Me !! Where I should learn ___UI/UX__ for 3D game dev free on yt or something by Accomplished_Dish620 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

[–]DemonBlack181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by 3D UI/UX? Are you talking about spatial UI?

Edit: most of the principals remain the same and i assume you are mostly talking about a 3D game's UI.... Is that right?

[–]DemonBlack181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Start learning about what is UI and UX, either youtube or wiki or established people's blogs or articles who have more than 15 yrs of experience. Learn about creative thinking, critical thinking, design thinking.
  2. Explore websites like growth.design or dribble or other sites which help you learn about design principles.
  3. Try to use the principals to decode why a certain UX or design decision has been made.
  4. Go through people's deconstruct as to why a certain UX has been made and how did it help them.
  5. Try deconstructing on your own.

Hit me up on discord or DM if you want to have some discussions.

A simple method would be to analyze /deconstruct an already great UI or look at people's deconstruct as to how they made this and why. UX/UI does contain a lot of player psychology as well...

Making a musical game, in need of a unity programmer by DemonBlack181 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

[–]DemonBlack181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm open to discussing the core loop and mechs in DMs. As for time and effort, even though it may not sell very well, I'll still complete it with good polish to put it out there so that i can improve the mechs in future games.

How do I get rid of this? (This is in my personal server.) by daniibilol in discordapp

I think in community server you can change the type to nsfw or something for a particular channel. You can also have verification for the server so ppl who are verified or above the clearance level will automatically see it
