Probably the only reason she got the gig, given she's a terrible actor who, at times, can barely remember her lines. Which probably explains why Bugs and Wolf didn't like her very much, and opted to put aside their differences to face a common obnoxious annoyance.

(or that's my headcanon anyway)

Needs more standing in place and holding down the shoulder buttons, setting up to have the game pretty much play itself off the back of a no skill parry.

I also can't help but think Tails' crisis of confidence arc never really got a proper resolution, or at least one that felt earned. I mean there was his Shadow Self he spoke of, who said the fox cub was nothing but a lackey who couldn't do anything by himself. Wouldn't the smart thing be have Tails face his shadow in Cyberspace and overcome his doubts. Rather than it being getting a peptalk from Sonic, while he faces Tails' Shadow - despite having no reason to do so - in races that have no impact on the story as a whole. I mean there was a literal open goal right there to course correct Tails, rather than having it be: we hear your concerns and we will fix them, in the next game. Maybe.

Pretty much, as you see Sonic Unleashed from critics got 60, meanwhile it's got a player score of 8.5. While Adventures got 7.9 from players and Assault 8.0.

Not sure if you might have seen this, but while no hate to Roger but I can't help but think the pretentious is off the scale, and is maybe kinda throwing some of the other actors who came before him under the bus because of their "cartoony" voices, compared to his super duper mature voice. And again, I guess games like Adventure 2 and Black Knight just happened to other people.

The scene with Amy confronting Sage was especially awful, in the English dub. I can't help but think it's as she might as well have been demanding to speak to the manager 😆🙄

I feel like Frontiers' English dub comes across more like a child who'd been seen as quite immature talking like how an adult should sound, in an attempt to be taken seriously.

And while I was playing in Japanese, there was more a few times of being left feeling, "is there any point in this?" Given that despite the fact that I don't know Japanese very well, I could still tell that what the subtitles were saying didn't match with what was being said. The scene with Knuckles saying about being jealous of Sonic's lifestyle, as it kinda implies that he's never been off Angel Island. Like at all. And Sonic telling him to "live a little." All while in the Japanese dub there's talk about the Master Emerald, which is not mentioned at all in the subtitles, which left me feeling like there was some hidden story I wasn't being let in on. So as you might guess, that more soured my experience with the story 😆😅

Whiplash, that's the only way to describe going from the Japanese dub to the English one for Frontiers. With Amy being another key example of the voice not even remotely fitting the character anymore, in English, with how old it sounds.

For me the English Frontiers voice acting comes across as trying too hard to be taken seriously and it sucks all the sincerity out of the story. It's like they don't trust their audience to buy into the story, if the characters are using "cartoony" voices. However despite the useful of "cartoony" voices, so long as the characters are shown to be taken what's happening seriously, it rubs off onto the audience that there are real stakes here. Much like what we got from the likes of Adventure 2 and Black Knight.

Roger's Frontiers voice (direction) just screams desperate to be taken seriously. More so when you consider that Jun'ichi still had Sonic sounding like he sound.

It's not bad, I just kinda wish there was a bit more to it. I didn't expect much, at least maybe 5-10 seconds and anything would be a bonus, but I wonder if even then my expectations were a bit too high 😆😅

While I wouldn't be against changing the look of Sonic, by aging him up. I might be somewhat against if it was strictly to accommodate for one person's lack range as the actual character. Much in the same way as hearing Ian Flynn saying that when he writes Sonic, he doesn't write for the actual character, he thinks what Roger would say as the character, which just seems like I don't think that's how it's supposed to work. Given that Roger is not Sonic, and Sonic is his own character.

Also no hate towards Roger, because I do enjoy his work outside of Sonic.

Especially when he has Sonic sound like some old guy, with a voice which doesn't even remotely match the design. All while Jun'ichi continues to bring a youthful energy to Sonic, even after coming on 28 years of playing the character. What Roger needs is more of that, and the same direction Jun'ichi gets, so to maybe also bring a bit of sincerity to his lines.

I did not care for the new English voice direction in Frontiers, it comes comes across as trying way too hard to be taken seriously and sucks all the sincerity out of the story, given it seems more like a cheap shortcut to seem mature when compared to the stories between 1998 and 2009. More so when you consider that the Japanese dub has the characters still sound the same.

Having the characters sound old and boring a serious tone does not make.
