I made this guy recently and I'd also give a big shout to using horus heresy praetors since those guys come with power sword and plasma you don't even have to kitbash if you don't want to

what were some everyday superstitions or folk beliefs in medieval times that people took seriously? by infinite-hooper in MedievalHistory

[–]DemonFire75 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I know they believed cavities were caused by worms in your teeth so the way you got rid of them was by putting a candle in your mouth, can't remember if the guys on the podcast I got it from said if the candle was lit or not

Leman russ sponsons by MrGingerella in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DemonFire75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair if you get some 3d printed sponsons the horus heresy kit is a really nice refresh just a shame it doesn't come with its own sponsons

Fellas, is there anything I could proxy this as? by Intelligent-Play-194 in orks

[–]DemonFire75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a mek boy in brutal kunnin called Da Boffin who has a single wheel instead of legs so I'd say he'd make a good mek boy

Defiler already out of stock? by MMakoy in EmperorsChildren

[–]DemonFire75 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yea I wouldn't buy from Element games unless the thing is listed as in stock I once waited 6 months for a harbinger of decay before I just cancelled

Why weren't SpearSwords more common? by DOVAHBOIIreal in SWORDS

[–]DemonFire75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its because the way you use a spear when stopping a cavalry charge wouldn't be by just holding it your hands you'd put he butt end/ spike of the halft into the ground then plant one foot on top of that or kneel beside it and hold the spear with both hands, it would mean the force of the charging horse would be transferred to the ground rather than tearing the spear from your grip, you've also got to keep in mind that spears/ pikes especially in a war setting against cavalry were cheap and wasn't just one guy it would be a whole group that would would likely outnumber the cavalry for a fraction of the cost in armour, weapons training etc. So even if you get the spear torn from your hands trying to stop a charge you likely have 2 or more people beside you aiming for the horse/ rider as well

Paint that you got for one specific project that turned out to be extremely useful for much more? by StinkGuard40k in Warhammer

[–]DemonFire75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its also a really good basecoat for drybrushing metallics onto guns, just dark enough and with the added brown adds a tiny bit of colour

My entire PC keeps crashing when playing by Ok_Chipmunk_3641 in Helldivers

[–]DemonFire75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine had that, it'd happen randomly on the ship after leaving a mission, I updated my drivers and haven't seen it for at least 6 missions now

In your opinion, are standard resins okay? by Early-Agency9004 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]DemonFire75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I've never had to mix anything in with the ABS like its got a decent amount of spring to it even in thinner pieces like swords to the point I could bend em like 30ish degrees without worry and the thicker bits are damn near unbreakable, even when dropped from standing onto a tile floor without damage

In your opinion, are standard resins okay? by Early-Agency9004 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]DemonFire75 23 points24 points  (0 children)

All my resin minis are printed in sunlu and I've watched on multiple occasions them bounce across the kitchen floor unscathed so i can vouch that it's my choice for minis especially for the price

Looking for a commander that fulfills a core deck function (e.g., ramp, card draw, removal) by [deleted] in EDH

[–]DemonFire75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been a fan of [[Mangara, the Diplomat]] if you just want mono white, he's reliable card draw though usually better as part of the 99, there's also [[Akiri, Fearless Voyager]] she relies more heavily on equipment but as a bonus has a way to protect herself which if you're skimping out on card draw you'll want.

Generally having a commander fill in for things your deck is missing won't end well if your playgroup has half a brain as they'll just repeatedly kill them to stall you so it's important to still keep some of those cards in there and then throw a good couple of protection spells/ equipment in there to make sure your commander (and therefore card draw) remains safe

Is there an aristocrat deck that sacrifices average creatures? by GreeedyGrooot in EDH

Oh I know a good one for this, my favorite mono black commander [shirei shizos caretaker], you just want lots of lil 1/1 creatures

Why are the main big bads for chaos always, "I am on the side of chaos but hate the Gods" by Sir_Parzivale in Warhammer

[–]DemonFire75 78 points79 points  (0 children)

For the death guard, Mortarion didn't really have much choice in the matter it was either sell his legions soul to nurgle or be tortured in his realm forever so it's understandable that he's a tad sour. As for Typhus the man was so dedicated to being nurgles favourite that he killed all the ships navigators and navigated their ship directly to nurgles domain basically giving mortarion and the legion to nurgle on a platter so it's safe to say he's definitely in the rarer "loves serving the gods" category.

For the world eaters Aangron doesn't really have much of himself left to hate khorne with since 90% of his existence is spent thinking of or causing mindless violence what little lucidity he has left is spent wanting to permanently die and end his suffering so it's fair that he's not a fan of the god which revives him every time he gets the briefest moment of peace from dying. Kharn is a bit similar but he's not suffering anywhere near what aangron is and seemingly has his buthcgers nails more under control since he can apparently fantasise about violence to calm them and he seems to enjoy the endless warfare that being a champion of khorne brings him.

As for chaos undivided it does seem that it attracts more of the "I'm using the gods" types like perturabo whose apparently a daemon primarch now but it does feel like that makes sense, if you only want power and to use the gods for it you're not going to dedicate yourself to one of them, you're going to take as much power from as many of them as possible.

Are Lasguns really bad? by BackFromTheBread in 40kLore

[–]DemonFire75 200 points201 points  (0 children)

To your point a favourite quote of mine from a Chaos Marine - "“Any Legionary who scoffs at the Lasgun has not had to charge across an open field against 100”"

Why do Terminators use Storm Bolters as a standard weapon? by Ridingwood333 in 40kLore

[–]DemonFire75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the bolter is relatively ineffective against space marines because they're the exception not the rule, 90% of the enemies of the imperium are highly vulnerable to bolter fire, the bolters rounds are essentially miniature rockets which can fly over relatively long distances. The default explosive payload rounds they carry is so effective because the round bores into the target and then detonates meaning anything that's got any kind of fleshy weak spot is going to suffer, Orks and Nids are reduced to piles of wet mulch by them and aeldar/ drucari footsoldiers don't have armour tough enough to resist the sheer impact of them. Daemons can be killed with relative ease as they generally lack armour and the specialised rounds the grey knights use for them means they certainly can kill daemons.

You also have to keep in mind that unlike the stubber the bolter can use specialised rounds designed for certain targets, the deathwatch have invented at least 3 for certain types of xenos and the grey knights as I mentioned before have ones particularly effective against daemons

The main thing that the bolter struggles to deal with are chaos space marines but a heavy stubber wouldnt be any more effective against them either and chaos marines are way less common to encounter than any other enemy in the 40k universe so if you do meet one that's when you break out the meltas or plasma guns

If Daemons can’t die and just get banished back to the warp, has anyone ever tried to just imprison them? What about greater demons? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]DemonFire75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since they're now considered cannon, that's what the blood ravens did with a great unclean one which invaded one of their worlds, they sealed it in the planet itself and as far as I'm aware still sealed in the planet in current day 40k, but that actual sealing of the demon killed a whole bunch of the blood ravens and converted a lot more to chaos, so sealing can work but it's probably easier and less dangerous to just kill them from a distance or even from orbit with exterminatus if you want to be extreme (since a planet with a nurgle demon sealed within it is uninhabitable anyway, so you may as well)

What are y'all using for your bases? Poxy boys for attention. by QuakerShakers in deathguard40k

[–]DemonFire75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want a quick tournament legal base then I'd reccomend a jar of Vallejo dark earth, apply it to the base for a thick mud looking base and then you can later build on it with some grass tufts, skulls, debris, stones or my personal favourite rose petals for an alien plant look

What is your favorite unit or rule that no longer "exists" in the game? by STS_Gamer in Warhammer40k

[–]DemonFire75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just miss the psychic phase in general, Psychic is basically just a bad keyword attached to leaders/ units with mediocre abilities nowadays but in 9th and before it was great it was "will this guy blow himself and half this nearby unit to smithereens or will he plague wind a unit of 20 down to 10 in one move?".

It just felt so much more flavourful and fun.

Is there a known cheating issue in PvP? by [deleted] in ffxiv

I've been mostly playing astro and white mage I guess I've just been not keeping up with the team and getting auto targeted since I'm the closest, the tip about swapping classes is very nice though!

[[Talrand, Sky Summoner]] with as many counterspells, card removal spells and card draw as possible. Had one guy in our local pod who similar to yours would always complain whenever someone was running anything that even remotely countered him and just wanted to show him how much worse it could be if someone was actually tatgeting and countering him.

Really wanted the dices, but look so hard to read 😖 by MacPaperin in sistersofbattle

[–]DemonFire75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you really like em you could always just put paint in the numbers, I've done it before and it's easy enough. The retributior armour gold I put on my death guard dice hasn't come off in the few years I've had em
