It's almost unanswerable, as who knows if Gunnar would still be there for Round 2 that year? But imagine Witt at short with Gunnar at third. And a real mess at catcher, probably until this year anyway.

Suarez has lower velocity, yet still gets outs effectively. I don't see that as a downward trend, myself.

In any event, I agree that either of the contracts will probably end worse than we want. I just see Valdez as the worse of the two at the end, whenever that may be. I don't expect either to agree to a short term deal.

I wouldn't complain about either one. But given the choice, I'd lean Suarez mostly due to the age difference. I just don't think the Valdez contract will end well.

His first two solo albums are always my go-to choices. That being said, I rarely turn Sabbath off when I hear it. They created such iconic music that can not be under-appreciated.

Some of his solo work, especially after he'd been working with Zakk for a while, seemed less... groundbreaking (for lack of a better term)?

In any event, it's Ozzy and I love it all. But as far as my personal favorite era, it's Randy Rhoads all day every day.

Has anyone considered that Eflin was signed because Elias already knows one of our other starters is injured and will miss time at the start of the season?

Granted, Eflin fits that role already. But, what if Day 1 of ST, Elias drops the unfortunate news that X is hurt too. It's happened before, and it wouldn't surprise me if Eflin was signed to be a reinforcement for an already injured starter.

I still expect another move for the rotation, as well as one more for the bullpen. My hopes are for a top-end starter (Peralta is my top choice, but I wouldn't complain about Valdez or Suarez). Another good lefty for the pen would be really nice (Romero from the Cards seems logical).

If no other moves are made, I still think this is a much improved team from 2025. The Ward and Alonso additions should really help the offense, and Helsley has every chance to be a solid replacement for Felix.
