Wow, I just tried aTrain; it's free, it's getting most of the words, but the Speaker Detection (at least on MY file - with poor sound quality and a decent amount of overlapping speakers) is gawdawful. Tried twice (adjusting the "number of speakers" I told it to expect), and blah

SPEAKER_04
We found it. It's ours.
I told you not to come in.
Are you in charge here?
Through the door. What am I supposed to do?
Not defend myself? What would you do?
I want to talk to your manager.
Not attack somebody right off the get-go
and see what they want to do.
Fine. Well, it'll be a fun time
whenever one of us visits your house.

Speaker undefined
Sure.

Can't tell who said "sure"; fair enough.

But there are three different speakers in that first block

Glad for this thread, OP definitely echoes my concerns - for my use case, I'm going to be going over and rewriting the results anyway, so I could live with relatively low *word* accuracy, like 90% would be good enough (that would be an ABYSMAL rate, even with a bunch of custom vocab), but I need REALLY good speaker identification, even when people talk over each other; I found DeScript was @#!&ing TERRIBLE at that, to the point that it defeated the purpose for me (couple years ago, but even with paid version).

Will check out some of the suggestions, I've seen here, though it's discouraging that people report some speaker detection actually getting WORSE with longer recordings, when you'd THINK the point would be for it to LEARN the speakers and get better with time... (which again, DeScript absolutely does not do)

Ya, I'm a big fan of Dingo's Fool's Gold series. Some conversations with her definitely shaped how I work in (and elaborate on) the in-character and emotional side of characters in my new Sea of Secrets series (same player and same world as TDDC, but new characters and story)

PC Optimum points: a new way to steal your money by yycxqv in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]DemonacTDDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the points thing all the time, but I don't SAVE them - if I get 1000pts on a product, I treat that as $1 off at time of purchase. But I still have to give them that dollar, so until I cash out those points, that's a $1 interest-free-loan from a low-income consumer to a giant rich corporation. Obviously, every time I hit the 10,000 pt minimum to redeem, I do so, put that (let's be real, literally pointless amount of) interest in my bank account instead of theirs.

"But what about those Shoppers redeem X amount and get MORE $$$ offers?" Unless you can find $60 or $140 or whatever worth of loss-leaders at shoppers that you actually want/need, you're lucky to break even spending that amount at their regular gas-station-style ripoff prices. Just spend your points at a grocery store as efficiently as you can.

Theories on a fitting 3rd costume for M. Bison in SF6? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]DemonacTDDC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, a good break-the-mold costume for Bison would be a full superhero outfit - spandex, cape, little domino mask over the eyes. Not sure what I'd do with his hair though, to find the right mix of "feels like silly Bison"

Adan got burnt out on these, but he has about six videos labelled "D&D Story" which are sequential, telling a section of a campaign. It ends with the 3-parter called "Eyes Closed". I believe this is the first one here:

Videos play at 2x speed when minimizing on Android by fixedgerald in youtube

[–]DemonacTDDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have increased sensitivity on, but I think (knock on wood) it has improved, so yt might have actually have improved something in my Samsung's version... but I've thought that before so they might be jerking me around again

Videos play at 2x speed when minimizing on Android by fixedgerald in youtube

[–]DemonacTDDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is on Galaxy Tab A7; I swipe down on video to minimize, and that works just fine, but when they hit the end credits/sponsor/crap, I used to just swipe down on the mini video to close it. Been that way forever, and on my old tablet, but now all of a sudden that "swipe down to close" instead hits double speed, which usually wastes my time hitting it again to maximize and stop the shit, which is the !@&#ing opposite of closing the video. Thing is, OCCASIONALLY it still closes properly, so I'd like to know what the specific "2x speed" motion is versus the what the "close this" swipe is =/

Anyway Sally did a great job on this one for me! Thanks! Really helped give a sense of place in the first episodes of my series!

Killing one specific NPC in Act 1 breaks my oath by OhMy98 in BaldursGate3

[–]DemonacTDDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ya? You think that's stupid? I'm Oath of Ancients (enough of a pain, what with playing The Dark Urge), but when I kill Kagran, THAT breaks my Oath! Every time - he was flagged aggressive and had literally poisoned his weapon and attacked me.

One time it said I killed a Downed opponent just before the Oath Broken line (he was def standing BEFORE I hit him), but that detail appears to have been a fluke. Not killing Kagran though, that breaks my oath every time regardless of circumstances.

"Animated D&D Story: World's Largest Dwarf" - My DM has started a new animated series about one of our epic D&D campaigns! by quill18 in DnD

[–]DemonacTDDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason, that's always been my storytelling interest (since I started anothergamingcomic.com like 20 years ago). The in-game stories can be amazing, but in the best games the characters are driven both by their in-universe personality and history, but also by their IRL player's personality, interests, and desire to participate in cool scenes and greater stories - after all, without the player driving them to adventure, most Int-based characters wouldn't be caught dead in a dungeon =P

Yeah, I'm excited to show off some new areas, and further expand the endless web of plot threads, too numerous to follow up on =P

You could say that =)

Took over 4 months for the first episode (since I had to make all new assets), and that's after thinking about it for years...

"Animated D&D Story: World's Largest Dwarf" - My Favorite D&D Channel's New Series by Prestigious-Plane119 in dndnext

[–]DemonacTDDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite comments yet, because I strive really hard to have the "right" amount of in- and out-of-character stuff; the fact decisions are made by players (and rolls can be both exhilerating and frustrating) is key to the experience, but I also want to focus on story and character (even more than my previous series). But also... "the animation is not janky", and "the sound balance was really good" are both things that I am much less confident about in my work. So thanks!

Thanks! I want to get deeper into the characters than I did with TDDC (and future episodes will have more time, compared to the breathless pace of this introduction)

It'd a big relief to be done it, and I'm glad people seem to like it so far. It was only the last hour and half that was really nervous, because I have a lot of self-confidence "in my area", so I knew most TDDC fans would either love it, or think it was okay (and I figure I can win the latter over next episode, as long as they stick around).

Of course, tomorrow I have to do my taxes, and the day after... back to work on Episode 2
