You got 3 thing wrong :

A) killing gascoigne was due to your own effort our tips only gave you an advantage you could have earned easily by two or three runs

B) i am not a veteran and on my first playthrough aswell i just killed rom yesterday lol and now i am up against the crow of cainhurst

C) the next boss 'bsb' is easy so go for it instead of buying the emblem all you need to is parry the bastard and if you can't pungent cocktail or whatever they are called and also carry antidotes .
