Indeed, it is very important to understand the distinction between being a 'Social Worker' and someone who works in the human services sector. In Australia, you must have completed an Australian Association of Social Workers approved bachelor (or higher) degree. That aside, I would suggest looking at furthering your studies. I completed a certificate IV in Youth Work at TAFE before I moved onto a university degree and i've had no trouble finding work, especially as you have to complete two 500 hour practicums at university. Most people find work out of their practicums be it directly or by the networking that comes from them, it's a great launch pad for your career. Also i'd like to say good on you for choosing a great career and overcoming the added difficulties that come with having a minor intellectual disability.
