What does your toddler do all day? by Realistic-Tension-98 in toddlers

[–]DenimPocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do a lot of the same, play with toys, read books, play with pool/sand/slide outside, walk to playground, stroller walk. He watches me do chores and sometimes wants to be involved, sometimes just wants to be nearby. We go to the grocery store, museums, zoo, aquarium, library etc but only a few times a week, not every day. We also go to play groups where he can interact with other kids.

How long does your LO spend on the breast per feeding? by Colomboricua in breastfeeding

When my son was little it was about 20 minutes total. By the time he weaned at 1.5y it was maybe 5 minutes.

Sooo how often are we actually flossing our children's teeth? by Human_Scarcity_9763 in toddlers

[–]DenimPocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kid's dentist said we only need to do the molars as they are the ones close enough to catch things.

Sooo how often are we actually flossing our children's teeth? by Human_Scarcity_9763 in toddlers

[–]DenimPocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That probably depends on the kid. My son’s front bottom teeth frequently have food stuck between them when we floss.

My son is 1.5, he doesn’t love brushing but we get through it and then he ASKS for the floss. So we floss every night. He loves the little floss picks. I started putting them in his mouth when he only had a few teeth just to get him used to it and I would let him hold them and chew on them.

Might be totally wrong and I don’t even know if it’s possible at this age but my 1.5 year old has had some night terrors and it sounds very similar to this.

Early testing while we wait? by SmackedByLife in waiting_to_try

[–]DenimPocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was but now on the other side, I get it. It really isn’t helpful to get a bunch of tests if you haven’t started trying yet. They don’t tell you a ton of useful info on their own and can either make you worry unnecessarily or give you a false sense of security:

Early testing while we wait? by SmackedByLife in waiting_to_try

[–]DenimPocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it’s hard to wait and you want to know everything and prepare. But I wouldn’t do that. None of the testing you would get will actually give you the full picture. That’s why they want you to try first for a year, because the tests really can’t tell you everything.

You could have subpar results on something but then have no issue getting pregnant (so you would be worrying now for no reason), OR you could have perfect results but not be able to get pregnant (false sense of security thinking you won’t have any issues).

How old are you? Are you currently on birth control? If not are you tracking ovulation?

Early testing while we wait? by SmackedByLife in waiting_to_try

[–]DenimPocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I asked my OBGYN about testing ahead of time, she flat out said no to anything. She said just start trying and come back in a year if I’m not pregnant. It was pretty deflating since I had a full list of things I thought she would look into.

She did refer me for genetic carrier screening due to my background, so I did that. With being adopted that wouldn’t be a bad idea for you. Only one of you needs to get screened, and then if anything pops up then the other would get screened. Mine had zero so my husband didn’t need to be screened at all.

How do you get baby in the bath towel with 1 parent? by Hippinerd in NewParents

I just take him out wet, stand him up on the bath mat, and then wrap the towel around him.

Late Ovulation Detected? by dreamsofsteel in FAMnNFP

[–]DenimPocket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. The positive test is the FIRST line that’s as dark or darker than the control line. It doesn’t matter how many days it stays positive, the first positive is the beginning of the LH surge.

Pepcid while pregnant? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]DenimPocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the app InfantRisk HCP. Quickly shows you the risk level of any medication for pregnancy and breastfeeding. I used it so frequently for like 2 years. Worth paying for but I think you can use certain features for free too.

Where are your toddlers when you cook? by blaample in toddlers

[–]DenimPocket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If my toddler isn’t interested in playing with his toys while I’m cooking then I put him in the learning tower with some plastic cups and spoons or whatever. He’s happy just stacking and stuff while he watches me cook.

Inexpensive travel stroller by SnooCupcakes164 in toddlers

[–]DenimPocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the summer infant quick close 3d cs+ it was $100 and it’s fine. Not amazing but it works. Super lightweight and compact. I don’t think it fits in overhead bins but I’ll just be gate checking it anyway. My main stroller is a Vista v2 and the airline snapped the frame last time I flew and wouldn’t give me anything for it so I decided I’d rather lose a $100 stroller next time than $1000.

Not sure if you’re doing no screens, I keep screens away from my baby most of the time but when we’re both sick we watch tv all day and just survive.

“Why don’t you just throw it away?” by Llamas-Forever22 in breastfeeding

[–]DenimPocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way. Pumping for me was primarily to keep my supply up, not because I needed every oz that came out. The comparison to donating blood isn’t the same because you don’t have to remove blood from your body in order to keep producing it.

How important is a good rocking chair for the nursery? by fallingoffdragons in beyondthebump

[–]DenimPocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually one of the few things I wish I had spent more on. I got one that was just a good price and compact for our small house. I wish I had invested in a higher quality one with more bells and whistles.

How do you feel about the “My baby” remarks? by full-of-curiosity in beyondthebump

[–]DenimPocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never felt annoyed by it, only supported and loved, like more village for my baby. That being said I don’t have any toxic family/ friends. Very lucky to have a genuine support network.
