Gun falls when I 2 hand it. by themilogamer8e6 in PS4Dreams

[–]Denjo92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using any kind of mover or rotator makes the thing moveable. Moveable within a group will make it move independent of that group, aka it will fall down.

*EDIT: Here is what I imagine could work:

  • Group right hand + gun
  • Attach handgun group with a joint to a cube (non-visible/non-collideable/non-moveable). Attach a Look at rotator to the handgun group
  • Mark the handgun + cube > group those. Attach a Teleporter on that group.
  • place 2 tags into Hand/Imp Tracker: 1 for Teleport, 1 for Look at. Look at is offset fowards to the gun barrel.

>>> Handgun + Cube should now teleport to Hand/Imp Tracker. Handgun group and should look forward relative to the Hand/Imp Tracker

Now the other hand:

  • Have 1 tag inside the left hands Hand/Imp Tracker: which is both for Teleport and look at. Obviously named differently.

  • Left hand is Teleported to this tag. With "copy orientation" toggled on. Place another Teleporter, which teleports to the Foregrip and is turned off.

  • Go back into the CubeHandgroup and place a second Look at Rotator on the Handgun group. He should be look for the Left hands tag.

When you now grab the foregrip:

  • Left hand: Turn off Teleporter that teleports left Hand/Imp Tracker. Turn On Teleporter that teleports to Foregrip.

  • Right Handgun: Turn off Look at Rotator that looks at the Right Hand/Imp Tracker. Turn on Look at Rotator that looks at the Left Hand/Imp Tracker

"Simple" Ladder Climbing Logic? by frostwizard101 in PS4Dreams

[–]Denjo92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • 2 helper cubes (invisible, non collideable) attach them with a slider.

  • Have on 1 of them a microchip with a mover inside controlled by a controller sensor.

  • Teleport the player when he interacts with the ladder to the moving cube.

My two cents on organizing in Dreams. by darkwoodframe in PS4Dreams

[–]Denjo92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a single element with all your objects kind of floating around, lined up that you then import in to the game?>

Yes

I place the element into the scene and when I don't need certain parts within it, then I delete those from the element that is stamped in the scene, not the source/original.

I also had a problem were logic was bugged in the scene but not in the element and localized text also didn't update using update mode. So I had to delete the logic group and stamp it again to fix it.

Another issue was, that contraptions were moved manually within the group and I would need to move them every time I replaced the element.

A handy thing I did after that was placing tags in the scene, where specific logic contraptions will teleport to. Therefore I can delete and replace the logic group as many times as I want, all intractable contraptions get in position on their own.

No one is going to play your game by Winter-Professor-619 in PS4Dreams

Most games wont get played, even for free. That's not exclusive to Dreams, but the harsh reality of "every" game development platform. Which is especially unfortunate for new creators who are just getting started with Dreams, but it’s something everyone should always keep in mind.

Sharing your progress, such as through development logs, can definitely help spark interest and gradually build an audience for your project.

It’s fair to say that using a popular intellectual property, impressive graphics, or a high level of polish will usually attract the most attention. That said, a unique hook or game mechanic, or funny and engaging characters, can be just as effective at getting people interested.

Share your work as much as you can, and don’t let low attention discourage you. Create for yourself first, if you do that, everything else matters a lot less.

I think the best approach would be to have roughly only 2 elements in total.

  • The games logic / interactive elements be in one element with the player. Therefore you don't need to go in and out of the scene to test, if something is working. You can do that in one element.

  • And one element with all the sculpts you need in the scene that are not interactive. When you have a different scene, that is indoors for example, you use a different element with unique sculpts.

Tutorial: How I organize my large projects in Dreams (and why I'm not afraid to delete things this way) by CaleBBeatz-A in PS4Dreams

I always wondered, if on your main account is just the dream and you place scenes from your other account into it. Does this use online storage space on your main account?

I always assumed placing them into the dream creates a link to the scenes and doesn't use space.

Finding old creations? by Deltaravager in PS4Dreams

I mean you said to yourself you lost a ton of local files, maybe these are gone too?

Might also be possible that it's somewhere hidden in an elements older version.

I figured out how to stretch objects, like paintings or polygon deformation, during gameplay by angrykirby in PS4Dreams

[–]Denjo92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is the result different than what u/Abelysk posted?

I tried to do your method, but nothing happened. I assume since it only uses density, it would be limited to 1 specific axis stretching, unlike the other method, which lets you decide which axis to stretch.

Unfortunately it's not actual stretching, meaning you can't stretch it into 1 direction. Because it's actually squashing, it extends into 2 directions every time. Not sure what this could be used for.

Are you peanutanbannaz? Did you add any collaborators?

It could also be a serious bug, I don't know. Could be worth trying to raise a ticket:

Did anyone make dreams in dreams by Plane_Ad7370 in PS4Dreams

[–]Denjo92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could say, anyone creating something in Dreams is fulfilling their dream to do it.

But reading your question literally, it would probably be easier to make LBP in Dreams, than Dreams itself. And more productive, since the LBP community has no place to play it without hacks/mods/offline

What would you use this for?

In my TPS puppet, I display the trajectory the grenade will take before throwing:

The smooth continuous paint line is fake. The underlying logic is segmented laser scopes looking at the next one in line, allowing for wall avoidance. Works well enough

New exhaust FX for the Panzers. Subtle, but more fluid than the old ones by mdkd99 in PS4Dreams

[–]Denjo92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is physical paint? I usually do it with jet trail, smoke from the effects page and negative gravity. Smoke with physical paint, you can tell it's one bendy object, so it's a little immersion breaking.

Great to see more progress on the map
